The Reincarnated Demon of Time

In the past, gods and demons made an agreement: they would share their roles, so that gods could balance the havoc demons brought upon the world, and that demons could balance the miracles that the gods were doing upon these lands. After thousands of years, this truce was broken, due to the demons' boredom, and then, a disastrous war began. As for Gulan, the demon of time, he said that it was just a matter of time until the gods claimed victory. Nobody cared about what he said, and all demon lords fell in consequence of their ignorance. Gulan was the last one to fall, but he had a backup plan. By manipulating time itself, he brought himself back to life, willing to do anything to recover his honor, and to exterminate every god that exist. ------------------------------------------- Schedule: 2 chapters/week. New Dawn

The Sun rising on the horizon dazed me, while strongly glowing upon my eyes. Demons aren't really adapted into harnessing the sunlight. Unlike Imps, which are vulnerable to it, pure blooded and Minus can bask upon it safely. However, we're mostly used to dark environments, so that's why it was harmful for my eyes.

As I had some time before this house's owners woke up, I decided to watch the dawn for a while, rather than go back inside. Probably the best strategy was to go back inside, and pretend to be sleeping, but I disregarded. For the first time, I could watch the Sun's rising, and I was not wasting this opportunity.

Knowing that I had some room to breath, I started to think about what would I have to do from now on. Firstly, having only weak techniques would be an issue, since only little to zero potential could be extracted from them. To put it simple, I needed stronger spells.

Secondly, most of my equipment is unavailable, as a consequence of having sacrificed a large amount of mana and vitality. Besides, I couldn't feel their presence, so the possibility of having lost their access, was the most appropriate idea.

And not being able to manipulate time squares, nor having greater spells, all this while my gear was also out of reach, left me only with the option to fight physically, without relying on spells or sophisticated equipment. So, because of this factor, I'd have to adquire a sword, as knives wouldn't be that good for fighting.

In the end, my gazing was interrupted when I felt the house owners' scents, as they entered the bedroom. Although I was distracted, I could say clearly that they came here to wake me up first thing in the morning, since by feeling their scent, was already enough to know that they didn't go out of their bedroom before.

''Young one, where are you?'', a friendly and receptive tone called me shortly after they got into the room

Carefully, I jumped inside, in front of them. The same way I acted last night, I forced myself to look saddened, as if I was a traumatized child. My breath was strained and short,

''Good morning...'', by talking lowly, I intensified my acting, while I answered them, ''Sorry, I just thought I should watch the sun rising...''

Both of them approached me, with gentle steps with smiles on their faces. Knowing that abusing a child's countenance would make them help me at all costs, I would keep both of them close.

''It's okay, sweetie'', the woman patted me as an attempt of reassuring me, ''Now, would you like to eat something? It will be good if you have a meal, first thing in the morning''

Before I could confirm, the both of them took a step back, waiting for my response, as they watched me cautiously. No word was pronounced in my response, just a slight nod, while looking down. Fortunately, that answer was already enough, so they just went out of my bedroom.

Their scent went downstairs, probably to prepare breakfast. At any rate, I couldn't afford to stay put now. I needed to understand why these humans helped me so carelessly. Understanding their reasons would be vital, since, as a consequence, I would know if their reliable or not.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to hear the whole conversation from the bedroom. There would be a possibility of finding useful information, about their reasons for helping me, and also about this people.

Slowly and carefully, I made my way downstairs. As I progressed, I kept track of their scent, as not to end up facing them in my way there. Luckily, they were far away from my position, so I could go down without hesitation.

At the same moment I reached the lower floor, I could already hear a bit of whatever they were talking about. Of course, peeking like this would become an habit, knowing that, it is hardly possible that I get the information I want to straight away.

''You look happy'', the man's voice moved away a little, probably due to his approach towards the woman, ''What is warming that little heart of yours after so long?''

''After all of our prayers, our dream was finally materialized!'', her her tone showed great emphasis as she answered her husband, ''Although he is already a bit grown up for now, having our own child was our biggest dream, remember?''

To be honest, I didn't expect to acknowledge this so soon. At any rate, knowing their reasons was just the beginning. From their perspective, I was a child put into their regular daily life through prayer miracles. If I wanted to keep them around, I had to follow these expectations.

They began to prepare breakfast right after their affectionate moment, and as for me, I had to silently back off a little. Believing so strongly in their own hopes clearly makes them naive, but raising suspicions was undesirable.

It wouldn't be bad if I was found walking around the place, to get properly acquainted with the whole environment. However, peeking on their conversation would receive a certain frequency as a matter of seeking more knowledge.

As soon as I got to the second floor, I could feel their approach. Immediately, I went towards my room, just to maximize my chances of not alerting them.

Perfectly timed, they got inside as soon as I took a seat on the bed. The man was as happy as before, but as for the woman, she was genuinely happier now. Obviously, this was caused by the conversation from earlier, in which she revealed her prayers to her husband.

''Breakfast is ready, honey'', the woman said that as she approached me, with a smooth aura, and slow steps, ''Would you like to eat it now, or to wait a little longer?''

This time, I decided not to act as saddened as I already had. Of course, it was probably not a good idea, but, perhaps, that could be used as an excuse, so as to show gratitude for everything they've done for me since last night.

''I'd love to eat it now!'', I had a smile of my own, and also, an expression of contentment

After approaching them, I could notice how surprised they were, but they dismissed. Perhaps, having their child smiling so brightly, all of sudden, after a lot of silence and discomfort, relieved them a little

One way or another, I had to behave properly, so I could stay with them, for a while. Until my powers are recovered, I can't risk going on a rampage through the human's world. Hopefully, they won't find out my disguise.

Hey, hey! Glad to be back! Anyway, I am truly sorry for this long delay between chapters. On the past few days, I am having a lot of college tests and projects, so I couldn't find time to write. Luckily, the exams will be finished by next week. Stay tuned, because the release rate might increase on the next few days!
