I awoke to the sound of familiar voices talking quietly. I slowly opened my eyes to find myself in a dark cave. I turned my head in the direction of the voices.
"Fuck so now angels are going to come after us, too?" Asmodeus spat and slammed his hand on the ground beside him.
"You could just leave her and let her fend for herself, or you could use her just like everyone else wants to do." Almos said softly.
It was silent for a moment as the two just stared at each other. Almos then began to nod his head, "I see, you Sin compliments your desires."
Asmodeus didn't respond. What did Almos mean? I sat up from my spot on the ground behind the two men, to which they turned around.
"Are you okay, lazy ass?" Asmodeus chuckled, "I think you just didn't want to run!"
I looked at him a bit confused, then began to recall what happened before I had passed out. My parents aren't my real parents. They killed my real ones. I'm half demon and half angel.
"She's looking pale, brother." Almos spoke.
"I'm fine." I smiled weakly.
"No you're not, but we also can't just let you sit here and keep hiding you. You need to learn what abilities you have and how to use them. Your brother was right about the angels coming to find you soon. If they find you, they'll try to purify you since you're part demon. It'll be the most painful death you could imagine." Almos said as we made eye contact. His tone was cold and his eyes held no expression.
My throat felt dry and I began to feel anxious. So the angels want to 'purify' me, i.e. kill me, because I have demon in me, and the demons want to use me for their own gain? Either way, I seem to be wanted dead.
"We can't help you with the angel side of things. You'd have to figure that out yourself. But we can help to develop your demon side." Asmodeus spoke. He walked over to me and held his hand out, "Get up."
I grabbed his hand and did as he asked. He then handed me my sword. "You're going to spar with Almos."
I took my sword. "But what if I hurt him?" I asked. Better yet, what if he hurt me?
"He'll be fine. Demons heal fast. Besides, doubt you could land a hit anyways." Asmodeus shrugged then walked away. What an ass.
We began sparring with our weapons. I used my sword while Almos used two smaller ones. He was fast and his attacks were relentless. I felt like I could never land a hit on him and I was getting exhausted.
Almos came at me for another attack. I blocked one of his weapons with my sword and the other with my forearm guard. Big mistake, I left myself wide open and Almos took advantage of it. He kneed me in the stomach hard and I went flying backward into the cave wall. It winded me and I sat there gasping for air. My back stung and I felt weak.
I looked over as Asmodeus and he looked disappointed. "Stop messing around and fight like you usually do." His voice boomed from across the cave.
"What do you-" I was cut off by Almos kicking my body across the cave while I was distracted. I felt even worse, as if I could barely move. My muscles fatigued, my ribs hurt from where Almos kicked me, and my back hurt from slamming into the cave walls twice. Despite my condition, Almos showed no mercy. He kept kicking me, picking me up and throwing me, and if I did attempt to block him he would land several attacks and leave several cuts on my body.
"You're weak." Almos said as I lay on the ground unmoving.
"Pathetic." I still didn't move. I could smell the strong, metallic stench of blood as I watched a pool of it form under my left arm, which rested in front of my face. I heard footsteps come toward me.
I was suddenly lurched upwards and my head burned. Almos had grabbed me by my hair and was holding me out in front of him like I was a fish he had just caught for a river. I glared into his eyes, and he seemed to be just as angry, if not more. "I think we're done here. I've seen enough of this weak whore."
The smell of my blood and the deep, challenging tone in Almos's voice had stirred something inside of me. My anger had continued to grow as I hung there until I snapped.
I began to smile and giggle, "Oh honey," I drawled, "You haven't seen anything yet. I promise." In the blink of an eye, I sent my knee into his chin then used a roundhouse kick on his exposed ribs. This time he was the one to be sent flying into the cave wall.
My pain was gone. I felt good, maybe even great. I felt excited, alive. I stood in place with a huge smile on my face as Almos stood up.
"I'm going to kill you." I screeched in joy and rushed at him. We fought again, but this time he was on the defensive constantly while I remained on the offensive. Although he still had his weapon and I didn't, I had the upper hand.
I want his blood to spill.
No, I can't!
But I want to.
Almos managed to retreated a few meters away from me and we both stood on place to catch our breath. I felt satisfied, he looked significantly more exhausted and had a couple of scrapes. Then, the sound of slow clapping rang from the other side of the cave. I still didn't take my eyes off of Almos.
"Bravo! Finally, we got what we wanted." I shifted my eyes over to look at Asmodeus who looked quite happy. I felt the urge to growl at him, at both of them. I wanted to torture them and splatter their blood across the cave walls.
Don't do that! They're helping you!
But I want to watch them suffer.
I ran my tongue along my lips, hungry for blood, when I noticed something odd. My canines felt longer, significantly longer. I looked down at my hands and my nails had grown to resemble claws. A puddle lay next to me on the ground and, upon peering inside it, I noticed my eyes were no longer green. The iris of my right eye was red while the iris of my left eye was so blue that it almost looked white. My hair was different too. The right side had turned black while the left side had turned silver.
Is this what Asmodeus wanted?
I looked back at the two brothers who were stood together and looked quite impressed.
"Looks like we not only managed to pull out the demon, but the angel too."
