Chapter 23 - Books!

'With constant revising of the Chinese language every day and the cheat technique called『Ascendance』, my comprehension of the traditional Chinese language has really grown with leaps and bounds... If I had this technique in my past life I could've swallowed a lot more knowledge than I currently have.

Sigh. At least I have a foundation to start with. All I have to do is just rediscover and map out the mysteries of the universe. For Science! Hahaha. Ha.

On a side note,『Ascendance』actually does improve my perception as well, which is really good stuff. Normally I would say nerf pls, but now, since I'm the using it, I would rather say buff pls. Understanding the complicated Chinese language has really never been easier.

Though, there are some... things that I don't like about this language. Perhaps, after I went around the world learning more about the different languages, I could create a much better one without the disadvantages of many other languages. With a solid logic to the language, learning it would be much quicker.

It always has been one of the things on my bucket list, to create a language to my satisfaction in ease of use, learning, understanding, flexibility, and compactness.

I must say, the beauty and meaning of the Chinese language is satisfying enough. One character can mean a lot, making the naming experience of anything much easier. The degree of difficulty in learning the language, as well as the lack of logic in pronunciation, are harsh demerits in the ranking of languages in my book...' I mused, ruminating about my experiences of the past week.

Done with my retrospection, I turned to mom, who is currently meditating in a lotus position with me sitting on top of her legs.

Curious about my current flexibility, I mimicked her posture in an attempt to do the complete lotus position.

'In my last life, I could do the lotus position, but it wasn't very comfortable. After about 15 minutes, My legs would go numb like pinpricks of needles, and I could only use 1% or 100% of my leg strength, control is rather hard with numbness in the muscles...' I thought offhandedly while pulling my legs over to the crease at my thighs.

My legs easily when into the lotus position like it was nothing difficult.

'Sigh. A baby's body is really fresh, malleable, and super flexible. Truly, the best time to train the physical aspects of a body...

Damn this makes me feel old, even if I was only 20+ when I died. Middle-age would make me feel ancient.' I lamented.

With mom currently occupied with meditation, probably some kind of preparation for her soon to be breakthrough, I decided to observe her much more closely as much as I could. After all,『Acceleration』currently isn't usable at all after I unwittingly broke through a certain threshold.

'This threshold is really a good thing to be passed at this stage. I don't even need to do anything and my current rate of production far outstrips my previous Qi production rate that it looks like a joke. After all, I could only use『Acceleration』when I'm conscious.

But this threshold that I've passed is permanent, so the actual rate compared to previously, totaled up, could be over 20x faster. Even the newly made『Yin-Yang Cycles』are almost reaching the limit capacity of the organs they're situated in.

Ugh, I got sidetracked again.'

『Truth Seeker』+『Ascendance』, 100% Activate!

With the activation of these 2 abilities of mine, the copious amounts Neutral Qi that has accumulated in my body thanks to the perpetual activation of『Acceleration』started flowing to my eyes and brain.

Thanks to『Ascendance』, my senses and perception are amplified by a large margin, and the flow of time I perceive slowed down massively. Not to mention, My vision has been doubly amplified by both my abilities.

The flow of Qi of Heaven and Earth that was overwhelming to my vision became clearer and much easier to pick out, as if the logic behind the seemingly chaotic movements are just within my grasp. The quality of my vision now has gone beyond just seeing at 9kUHD9kfps.

'Whew. Now I really can take advantage of the capabilities that『Truth Seeker』granted to me, previously I could barely take advantage of the perceiving Qi quality by only focusing on smaller areas. The view of the Qi in the whole Heaven and Earth is really spectacular.' I smilingly thought at the event of my improvement, finally turning my eyes to mom.

Her raven black hair cascadingly flowed down her shoulders, with her beautiful face tinted with a serene expression. Her elegant, yet enchanting collarbone leads done to a captivating soft chest, perkily standing away from her body proudly. making it truly difficult to pry one's eyes away. The alluring curves that adorn her body belies the fact that she actually gave birth to me only a year ago. Her body and limbs are adequately meaty, slim, but not to the point of being bony. Her fingers look very smooth, as if she had never done a single hard work in her life, which is not true.

'Mhm. A high-quality beauty. An easy 9/10, a 9 because there's probably space for improvement.' I appraised.

The flow of her Qi is somewhat winding, following a certain path within her body, starting at the dantian, making a full circulation around the body, and ending at the dantian.

'This pathway... Is it mom's meridians? Why is it winding here and there though? Aren't meridians supposed to be some kind of highway for Qi...? Is it because of impurities? It would make sense, that impurities would inhibit or at the very least, slow down the flow of Qi.' I proposed a possible theory.

'It seems that I too would require to clear my meridians as preparation to set a solid and stable foundation. At any rate, clearing my meridians beforehand would only bring me benefits. In fact, why just stop at meridians when I can do my whole body?

A possible idea is to borrow the power of the『Yin-Yang Cycles』to remove the impurities within my body, although I have no idea how. The『Yin-Yang Cycle』is able to purify the normal Yin and Yang Qi of a cultivator into something purer, closer to the original『Yin-Yang Cycle』. Rather than purifying, it's more accurate to say that it is returning into its original form.

However, the original form... A baby is born inherently with impurities. After all, the building blocks used to make one come from mortals, who live in a mortal world, filed with all sorts of impurities. It's not like we mortals are lotuses growing in the mud and yet coming out beautifully from the mud. Though I guess that's an idea of the process of cultivating...

The purest form... would be to abandon everything but the most necessary of the things required to live. Cells. Cells have 4 requirements.

Waste Removal.

A suitable environment, of course, needs little attention. Unless I could somehow improve on the conditions the human body already provides to its cells, there's not much I can do there.

Energy source. Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Lipids. These require to be processed using oxygen to gain energy currencies, which contributes to the advancement of other processes

Catalyst. A.K.A. oxygen. Required for the process known as respiration, the process of gaining energy from the 3 possible materials.

Waste Removal. It's the removal of unnecessary parts after gaining energy from the 3 main sources.

Technically speaking, if an alternate energy source that is more direct in usage could be found, the last 3 processes are unnecessary. I guess that is what Qi serves as.

But why is Qi able to extend the life span of an organism...? I remember that the life span of a cell is unrelated to the life span of a human. Not even telomeres, have any actual effect on life span. After all, lab rats have far longer telomeres than our own stem cells. Yet they still die way faster than us. This is very confusing, complicated, mysterious, and yet utterly captivating! I'm just so damned bloody curio-'

"Pfft hahahaha~ Yan Yan? You're so cuuuuuute~ Did you like how mommy looked so you decided to copy my body's position?" A peal of clear, melodious and mellow laughter rang out from above me, distracting me from my deep contemplations.

"Muuu~ I was just curious! And I was thinking!" I pouted, speaking in a somewhat slurry but very cute baby voice.

"Is that so? What were you thinking about, Yan Yan?" Mom curiously asked.

"Unnn... About what is mommy doing?" I said in a questioning tone while looking to the upper right, tapping my chin with a finger.

"Oh? Well, mommy is meditating." Mom answered.

"Me-meditat-meditathing?" I leaned my head to the right.

"Fufufu~ No, it's me-di-ta-ting. To collect and refine Qi from the Heavens above and the Earths below. That is cultivation." Mom patiently explained.

"Cultibashion?"

"Uhuhuhu~ Cul-ti-va-tion. Repeat after me."

"Me-di-ta-ting. Cul-ti-va-tion."

"You got it right, Yan Yan! You see, cultivation is about getting stronger, so you can protect yourself from bad guys, and also to live a longer life." Mom praised while patting my head.

"lon..ger life?" I pretended to ask.

"Yes. In this world, there are many different races. We are part of a race called humans."

"Hoomans?" Trying hard not to laugh or give off any sign of holding in my laughter and just put on the best curious expression as well as curious eyes as I can.

'Go-Heavens, this is unbearable. It's utterly humiliating for me to act like a curious baby, but it's necessary to keep up the facade. I swear, it's humiliating to the point that I can't help but laugh when I think back to what I did...'

"Fufufu, yes. Humans. We, Humans, are one of the races with a most average lifespan. We can live up to a 100 years if we do not cultivate. There are other races out there who have much shorter, or much longer lives if they do not cultivate.

Usually, the larger the organism, the longer the life, though this isn't an absolute thing.

All life wants to survive longer and to ensure the continuance of their species, and as such, learned from the Primordial Beings on how to cultivate."

*raises an eyebrow inwardly*

'Now that's a keyword. Anything that has to do with Primordial Times definitely has to be something supremely awesome.'

"Pri-pri...mordial Be..ings?" I questioned.

"Um hm." Mom nodded. "Primordial Beings. Primordial Immortals, Primordial Demons, Primordial Devils, Primordial Gods. These 4 are part of the Primordial Beings that were born after the 3 were formed from the 1."

"3 formed from 1?" I genuinely asked this time.

"Yes. The One."

'Lul The One. Pffft. Lord Esca- Ooooops. Will I get copyright-striked? Bah. They can't reach me here, try and demonetize me now, Hah!' I amusedly thought to myself.

"The One is nothing. From nothing, The Dao was born. Then The Dao gave birth to Two, existence, to counter-balance non-existence. With Existence and Non-existence, then came the Three, Qi. With the Three, all things in existence, and non-existence, came into being.

So The One gave birth to The Dao, The Dao gave birth to Two, The Two gave birth to Three, and The Three gave birth to all things." Mom esoterically explained.

"Huh?" I put on a confused expression.

'The Dao, Eh? I expected it, but its really difficult stuff huh.'

"Ufufu. It's okay, Yan Yan. You don't need to understand now. You will remember later on if you enter Qi Cultivation phase and experience the baptism of the Qi of Heaven and Earth." Mom sadly comforted.

'If?'

"...uhn."

"Mommy, can I go and read books?" I pleaded with upturned puppy eyes as I held onto mom's dress with my hands.

'Yasssss. The ultimate technique used by mom before to get away with any seemingly unreasonable requests.'

"...Uuuuuuuu~ Yan Yan is too cute~! Of course you can! Mommy will take all the language books that we have and let you read them. If you don't know any words, just ask me, okay?" Mom hugged me while squealing in delight.

'Heh. Works like a charm. Truly, a woman's ultimate weapon. I'm very jealous of it. Oh wait, I can use it now. Hehehehehehehehe.' I thought with a somewhat deadpan face as mom twisted and turned around with me in her embrace.
