Chapter 24: Progressing

Author's note: I made the mistake of using people's surname instead of first name since we write our surname first where I came from so for name I'm not too familiar with I use their surname when I mean to say they are on a first name basis. On a second note, it is too easy to mistake a name for the other since most first names are usually common. so I am trying to get a middle point to you know differentiate them while using it correctly.

"Other players renewal are at your discretion but let me beg you on de gea, his love for the club and time spent at the club especially when Madrid came calling, he acted like a kid at first but he later settled down and saw this club like his home, we my sign a new keeper but please let's give him a new contract he is willing to even take a pay cut. To me it is always about contributions and he has over contributed to the club when the Red Devils were slumbering". I ask of him.

" Hahahahahaha, I don't have any problem with de gea, so it's not a sore point no need,.being cautious, if you feel that the club can cater for two top keepers together,.I would love to keep him then, no problem. He might even help the new keeper settle down or even help the whole team as a club veteran and legend". Ten hag said

"To be candid, us retaining him and signing another keeper would help the club gain an ambitious outlook while making it known that we don't treat our legends like rags the day they stop being very important which has always been one of our attractive point. While we won't go about forcefully retaining legends when they can't offer anything to the club again, we would sign replacement for them when they start declining and give them few minutes till they decide to retire or go pan for gold at our country and other Arabian countries or america.

Some our summer recruitment plans have already started with us being in contact with our transfer targets with some agents not officially on our payroll and most of those players are starting to see our ambition with all the amount we've spent on transforming our training grounds, academy, scouting team and back room team as well as other plans we made known to them.

Ten hag, all our plans are made on the basis of us making top 4 this season, the giant club with sickness outlook have been changed to rich and giant club when we came in but us not making top 4 this season would make it seem as if nothing has changed and it will require more from the club to make changes if we lose this chance". I explained.

"Well with all I heard today, I don't believe there would be much problem in making top 4 while snagging a trophy in the process most probably the carabao cup and with the players out of the world cup in the group stage already through with their one week holiday we are ready to rumble once again.

A trophy and top 4 finish is my promise to you and your team, you done enough for now let the coaches take it from there". Ten hag said.

"Alright, I will take your word for it, Good luck", I stand up and say.

Okay later, and I won't disturb you, oh and the training ground is ready I hope? Ten hag asked.

Yes it is, are you planning to go back to England already.

Yes, won't want the players to get too used to this weather and get surprised by the cold when we go back there, and was planning to tell all the world cup returnees to join us at Carrington.

Alright no problem the ground is ready for use, everything has been completed and renovated, it will be a surprise when you see the new facilities. Oh and there are handlers for the machines there to explain their use and they will stay to help the players using them.

Alright, I do hope it will be a pleasant surprise and The next thing is stadium facilities my boss.

We are already on it don't worry, by the time the premier league resumes, the internal part of the stadium will be as modernized as the best in the current world cup.

As the two bosses were busy the players were busy doing restorative training while getting ready for yesterday's match debriefing.

The players were in a downcast mood, going about their training in a listless manner and all efforts of the coaching staffs to cheer them up was to no avail.

It was in such a state that Eric Ten hag arrived at the training ground, on seeing that the players were not in the mood to continue their training asked them to go take shower, get massaged and then assemble in the debriefing room.

About thirty minutes later the players were already assembled in the room while waiting for the coaching staff to come and discuss with them.

Eric entered the meeting room to meet the place silent and decide to lighten up the atmosphere.

"Hey what's with the long faces I've told you several times that while I care about all competitive match it does not include friendly matches, I care more about the process and how you played, from my point of view the match went perfectly until you became arrogant and felt they are a team not worthy of you playing a draw with, forgot all what we've talked about and indiscriminately launched attack on the opponent goal and you were brought back to earth, so no fighting you someone else already did my job for me, the analysis of each player would be sent to them, rather go home and check yourself, having a rich owner does not make you special, heel self that belief might make you no longer be a member of the club when it rises so go reflect you have an holiday for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow morning we are going back to Carrington. Bye everybody.
