The real meaning of love [Editing]

“Al. Can we talk?” “Sure,” he says, glancing at me he adds, “When did you get yourself that?” I look at him. Knowing, how things are at stake right now. How much this self-absorbed fool, one I’d always just want to run into and go visit 'Sparkling City' all the time, would one day have the capability to make my heartbeat. SO FAST. “Ahh,” looking at the bandage on my ankle I shift a little and look at him as I answer, “I tripped while running after the kids.” “You—” He looked as if it pissed him, I could tell. Kneeling, he softly brushes his finger over it. “Stupid.” “Al I was just running and didn’t see when I hit on a stone.” He looks up, his finger still gently on the area I had bandaged. “That’s why you are stupid.” Swerving my leg out of his hold, I call him off. “Firstly I am not stupid. And people trip, it’s normal.” Getting up, he says, “Normally people look where they are stepping before stupidly tripping themselves you know?” *** Lisa* “I want him to know. But. . .just friends don’t say these stuffs to each other. They don’t have butterflies and dragon battles in their stomach seeing each other.” What do you do when you can't even say you like the guy you like? Because he might just not, and that would only ruin your friendship with him. Luc* 'I love you, so?' "Loving a person you know you can't have is. . . It's even more difficult than the word difficult itself." And what happens when the only girl you've been liking for ages, starts dating your bestfriend? *** Hey, it's your author here:> P.S: the cover picture doesn't belong to me. Hope y'all enjoy your time reading it

Alas

"Hey guys," Maria says.

Something that perplexes me though, is the guy with Lucas. It was a blonde-haired male.

"Hey Lisa," He grins.

"Hey," I look at the girl beside me, as she colorfully greets him. "How's your leg now?"

"Oh," The guy has a plaster tied to his left foot. He looks at it for a second and smiles, "It's much better now. Thanks for the chocolates. They were sweet."

'Chocolates are supposed to be sweet, what's this guy talking about?'

I turn to the girl beside me, "Who's this?"

"Oh, sorry umm—this is Jacob, our drama mentor, and a really good friend outside class." She says, introducing the guy. 'So he's a teacher?'

"And this is Al." She looks at me, and for the first time since that guy entered this balcony, she's properly looked at me. "Alas. The other idiot I told you about."

"Since when am I an idiot?"

She stares at me, smiling "Since the beginning."

I look at her, and her eyes sparkle just like they used to. 'She's not changed, at all.'

'But.' I glance at the guy in front of me. "Hey mate," he says, extending his hand.

"Hi man," I say, shaking it.

"Jokes apart, Alas." Lisa turns at me. "This is Jacob, he's an especially trained boxer. But, he doesn't fight anymore now. He had experience in the acting sector, which he decided to pursue further for a few years, and that's how he'd a teacher at the drama class at school."

"A boxer turned into a drama teacher?" I raise my brows, putting on a small smile.

"Have you completely quit your boxing career?"

He looks at me, and his smile doesn't quiver for a second. He calmly replies, with a small smile still on him. "Not quite. I practice a little, here and there."

The guy standing in front of me gave off a vibe, I couldn't pick up on. It was hard to pick on. But I can feel something coming off of him. He didn't quite look like a drama teacher at first, and even if he was, how are drama and boxing ever related?

"Did you eat something, Jacob?" Lisa asks

"Ahm–" Jacob stares at her and staggers a little.

"You didn't have anything?" For some reason, Lisa got a little tense. Agitated almost.

"No, I did have an apple." He says, in a mildly low voice.

"You know you need to take care of your body, right?" Lisa says, moving forward she grasps one of his sleeves, holding his hand she drags him into the shop.

"Why's she so serious about this guy?" I ask, looking into the translucent glass entrances that link the shop to this balcony. She took him straight to the bar stools in front of the cashier. She turns to look at him and says something, to which the guy smiles and shrugs.

"He had an accident a few weeks ago," Maria says.

"So? People have accidents." I say, as my eyes shift to the girl opposite the doors. Her brows are no longer scrunched, instead, she was laughing and so was that guy. They aren't exactly facing one another, but sitting adjacently and turning their heads to look at one another from time to time.

"Is she going to go off to every single one of them, and treat them like this?" I murmur. Maria looks at me, in a bit weird way hearing that. "What?" I ask.

She stares at me in almost a scrutinizing way. "Do you—"

"We should go inside." I turn to look in front of me. Lucas is looking out of the window, at them just like I was a minute ago. "Why?" Maria says as both I and Luc get out off the balcony.

Stepping towards them, I hear the guy say, "I'll take you there." Which, Lisa smiles and looks at him with eyes, blush filled with excitement.

"Thanks," Lisa says, as her eyes smile with her.

Taking my phone out, "Shouldn't we all head home now?" I say, looking at the time. Someone has called me 16 times in a row. Tapping on the caller icon, I see the word 'MOM'.

"Yeah, I think I should leave."

Exiting the app, I place my phone inside.

"Me too."

"I have a meeting with a director, so I also got to go."

Hearing everyone, I say. "Okay then. Bye for today I guess?"

"Woah. You are also leaving?" Lisa asks, looking stunned almost as she blinks.

Being a bit confused, I say "Yes?"

"What will you do?" She asks. "I mean, you don't really have much to do now. Things in this city have changed a lot since you last came here."

"It might have, but that doesn't mean everything's changed," I say, yanking my shoulders a bit. She looks at me for a second and says "Okay. Drop me off first then."

"Why will I?"

"Because I want you to."

"I can also drop you off, you know." Lucas says, "I have my car right outside."

She looks at him, and silently stares for a second. "No, it's fine," I say, turning my head back at her. "Let's leave. But I need something too, for this."

"What?"

"This. The chance you just took to have me walk you home."

"Chance?" She scoffs. "I am sure you'd do this to any girl."

"Huh," I say. "Girls would kill to have the chance to."

"Alright guys, enough," Maria says. "Lisa will be going with you because she wants to. And dare you not say anything more, she wants to means she wants to. She isn't like all those girls you might have ridden with on your bike." She looks at me, with meaningful eyes.
