The unknown

Time Jump...

Adam POV

Thorn still lived and it had been about two months since he last showed up. Athena and I finally had mates and marked each other about a month ago. Our strength increased ten fold what it was when we were unmated and unmarked.

We still knew Thorn was out there so Athena and I spent every day training. She had no fighting skills whatsoever and now she was doing pretty well for knowing next to nothing about fighting. I made plans for us to work on fighting skills to work in our wolf form this evening and no one was to mess with us. She was getting better and better each day. I was curious to see how she would do in wolf form.

Of course though just as I was finishing my arrangements with Athena and me's things, Thorn decided to make an appearance. This time it looked as if something was severely wrong with him. He was pail, more so than he was the last time I saw him. He was skinnier instead of bulky, and it looked like he had been tortured.

My Beta Joe went looking for Athena the moment I saw him to keep her from harm. I went out front to see him in person rather than from a window view.. Ahahammmm.... What are you doing here Thorn? You are not welcome here.

"I know I am not welcome here. I have an infection or something wrong with me. I came to seek medical attention. I don't feel good at all and I am in constant pain." responded Thorn as his body trembled.

I called for a medical team to examine him and just as they arrived Thorn collapsed. My medical team took off with him to the 5th floor. He was covered in silver. They spent 7 hours between surgery and cleaning him up. his wolf was so weak he wasn't even healing. He was losing blood faster than he was healing.

The Dr came out after they moved him to a room and gave him blood. Dr. Prin came to talk to us about Thorns condition. no one knew if he would make it through the night. He had flat lined several times and they were able to bring him back. His wolf was hanging on by a thread and so was he. It was exceedingly rare for a person to survive but their wolf would die.

Giving Dr. prin strick instructions that 2 of my wolf's had to be posted at his door at all times and he had to be cuffed to the bed at all times. We would treat him but I would not risk him getting loose and land in a trap.

Dr. Prin didn't like it but she understood it was for pack safety and his safety especially since he went rogue. several days passed by. and Thorn was still in the hospital. Athena took this hard because he use to be one of her pack members and they were best friends at one point. He had developed strong feelings for her but never developed a mate bond.

The more I dug into the past for Thorn the more I found he was not like any ordinary wolf. He could pick and choose who he wanted. He was never destined to have a mate. That night I laid down with Athena ready to start a new day and hoped Thorn would progress so he could be out of my hospital. As I lay their in silence and started to doze off.

Everything was dark, and as I walked I was in the forest. I saw a soft blue light along the water and a woman stood their waiting for me as she played with a wolf in the water. I stepped on a twig and the wolf jumped. She looked at me and said " my child I have come to talk with you. As your moon goddess I have to tell you, I am very proud you gave Thorn help, but he will no longer be among the living. He had a change of heart but it was too late.

His old pack betrayed him and he had to much silver. Athena was destined to be his mate, but after the change he made I knew he was no longer ment for her. I made her ment for you. I saw the pain of your parents loss and the pain of her loss. You both have proven to be a wonderful match. You will be together for ever until the end of time.

Thorn was never ment to die but his fate changed as soon as he became rogue. Tomorrow he will pass as the sun rises high at noon. His wolf has died and now he is to weak to fight. He will join his many brothers and sisters among the stars." She said softly.

The whole dream felt like a matter of minutes but in reality I had slept all night. it was 7 am and time to get up. Athena lay asleep as she had been exhausted the last several days. I decided to have Dr. Prin look at her just to be safe and make sure she was ok. I went down stares to make breakfast for us and coffee. About 30 minutes later Athena comes stumbling down the stairs half asleep.

I made her cup of tea just how she liked it. She didn't care for coffee. I finished cutting up the fruit and played it handing it to her. she slowly ate. Before to long she was finally awake enough she took all the dishes and began getting them cleaned while she waited for more hot water for her lemon honey tea.

After about an hour I came back down stairs to her still cleaning up in the kitchen at the sink walked up behind her and hugged her around the waist. I kissed her neck nipping at her ears making her moan. she was so easy to be with. I felt like we were one. I felt complete with her and I knew she was my other half.

I decided to stop, I had to tell her about my dream. That was more important than us having our way with each other. I cleared my throat and looked down at her. Honey we need to talk, it's about Thorn and it's important. I led her to the living room and began to tell her everything. She had no idea he was able to pick and choose who he wanted because he was fated to be with her but she was chosen for me instead.

That was why he was fighting to get her, but since he turned rogue and became nasty mean the moon goddess found someone better. I told her he would no longer be among the living today at noon when the sun is at its highest peak. She cried at the loss of her friend, she cried at the loss of her pack, she even cried for his death. They had been so close she at one point felt the mate bond before she had her wolf, but then it just disappeared and she never knew why.

All she could do was cry. I picked her up and pulled her into my arms. She instinctively wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck as she cried into my chest. I sat with her soothing her. Thorn was no longer going to be an issue. Now since we learned the pack that went rogue had butchered their leader we now had a new problem arise and the question that went with it. Were they going to attack now or would they know to leave well enough alone.
