Chapter 76

A few minutes passed before Terrell appeared at the door and poked his head in. When Dakota saw him, he beckoned him in with a wave. His boyfriend complied, closing the door and walking up to him. He stopped a couple of inches away from the edge of the bed.

Dakota immediately embraced him. He pressed his face into Terrell’s stomach and gripped him tightly with both arms. It always felt wonderful to touch him, to put as little space between them as possible. For a few moments, he could pretend like nothing was wrong, and he could believe, at least on some level, that things would eventually work out for the better.

“What’s wrong?” Terrell asked inevitably.
