Awareness

As Oliver became aware of his recklessness, and arrogance the aura surrounding him started to change.

If his aura from before felt haughty, unrestrained, and filled with bloodlust. Now, it turned into calm battle intent.

This didn't mean that Oliver wasn't arrogant or prideful anymore, but he started to realize that looking down on everyone would cause him to become reckless.

When he was still a normal human he had the right to be proud of himself because of his achievements. However, he was a Metahuman now, besides the pride that came from his amazing potential he was still weak.

Using flare gave him the power to destroy groups of Metahumans at once, and he believed that he was unstoppable.

However, the encounter with this group gave him a reality check.

Yes, he might be unstoppable when he has ESP and can use his skills and abilities, but what happens when he runs low on ESP or he doesn't have access to it anymore.

He wouldn't be able to rely on them anymore.

Oliver could say he was in an unfair position because it was a 4v1, but he already knew the world wasn't a fair place.

Oliver could only rely on himself, and his reckless arrogance would become his downfall.

He had already died once because of his arrogance and lost someone who meant the world to him.

By acknowledging his mistake, and learning he had nothing to be arrogant for. Oliver started to view the group as real opponents instead of lesser beings.

Oliver knew he had the potential to become someone powerful, but right now he was just a boy who had a lucky encounter.

Without it who would he really be?

As the second round of their battle began, the group noticed the change in Oliver.

They could tell from his gaze that he wasn't looking down on them anymore, but viewing them as an obstacle he had to defeat.

Unlike the majority of people in their organization, who became artificial Metahumans after joining, this group wasn't.

They were once a low leveled mercenary group, but they lost everything in an incident with a boy who had an A grade bloodline.

It wasn't their fault as the boy ran into them before falling and getting injured.

It was just a small bruise and could be healed instantly with a healing potion, but the boy came from an influential family.

They were made out to be criminals and as they were low leveled Metahumans nobody stood up for them.

Their mercenary business was shut down, all of their items were confiscated by the corrupt enforcers and they had nowhere to go.

A week later when they were deciding to disband and go separate ways 2 men approached them.

The men offered them a chance to get revenge if they join their organization.

The group refused at first because they found the situation sketchy, but when the men offered 4 times the amount they made a month they gave in.

The organization delivered on their promise as 3 months later they were able to take out the family who wronged them.

Knowing that they weren't the only ones who've been treated badly because of their potential they decided to stay in the organization and help those who've also been wronged by high-leveled Metahumans.

'Even if he might change it's too late.' The woman thought before attacking Oliver.

To her surprise, Oliver started to dodge every one of her attacks.

She had confidence in her speed and knew Oliver was slower than her, but the boy kept dodging her attacks like he knew where they were coming from while staying close to her by using small movements.

This caused her to be in a tough position because her companions couldn't assist her, as she might get caught in the crossfire.

This was a part of Oliver's plan. As the woman entered his small perection domain he was able to sense her attacks better which allowed him to make smaller movements to dodge.

He mostly kept on the defensive while staying close to the woman to worry less about any interference from the archer and mage. He planned to wait for the perfect moment to take her out in one attack.

As Oliver was getting ready to make his move he sensed the hybrid behind him.

Knowing that this opponent would focus on one strike hit using all of his strength Oliver decided it was best to dodge instead of blocking.

To his surprise instead of backing away, the warrior attacked with the hybrid.

They used perfect coordination as the warrior slid back before slashing toward Oliver's knees and waist with her swords on Oliver's right while the hybrid attacked Oliver from behind.

His fist came from above and was aiming for his head while the archer shot an invisible arrow at Oliver's left.

His eyes followed the incoming swords while his perception focused on the punch and arrow. He knew that the punch would reach him first, then the swords, and last the arrow.

Oliver's waited with bated breaths as the attacks came closer to his body.

'This feeling again! The excitement!' Oliver thought while bending his knees.

As the fist was about to hit Oliver, he tilted his head to the left letting it pass over his right shoulder.

The air pressure from the attack whipped his face making it red, but he didn't focus on the pain as the swords were coming at him.

Oliver sidestepped to the left before jumping over both incoming swords and flipping his body in mid-air letting the arrow pass right behind his head.

Oliver saw as the hybrid's eyes widened and a smirk appeared on his face as his foot came down and attacked the hybrid on his head.

Bang!

When Oliver's foot hit the hybrid's head it made spider web cracks appear on the ground.

'Damn!' Oliver thought while landing in front of the hybrid.

He felt a stinging pain in his right foot after kicking the hybrid's head, but as soon as he saw an opening on the warrior he put the pain to the side.

He kicked off with his left foot appearing right in front of the baffled warrior before sending a punch to her stomach.

The warrior couldn't react as she was too worried about the hybrid.

She came back to her senses as pain assaulted her stomach making her drop her weapons and fall to her knees.

Oliver picked up the swords before jumping back as an earth spear targeted him.

'Two down, two more to go.' He thought while looking at the archer and mage.

There was frustration on the mage's face as he saw his teammates down and Oliver unharmed.

After dodging Oliver couldn't help but look down at the hybrid.

He shook his head in disappointment seeing that such a huge man was knocked out that easily.

The reason for this was because Oliver attacked the only weak spot on the hybrid's body which was his head.

His bloodline power gave him the ability to harden his body however he couldn't do the same for his neck and head giving him a big weakness.

When Oliver attacked the hybrid's head the man couldn't withstand the damage and fell unconscious from that attack.

This caused the warrior, who was his wife to become worried distracting her from the fight and giving Oliver an opening.

Oliver swung the twin swords a few times while watching the mage and archer.

The mage still had two more earth spears above him, but he was chanting a spell to make another one while the archer was pulling back on his bow waiting for Oliver to make his move.

Now that their close-range attackers were out they had to focus on keeping a distance from Oliver while trying to keep him in this area so that reinforcements could arrive.

As Oliver finished playing with the swords he found that they didn't suit him. He never learned how to use a sword, but something about these types of blades felt off to him.

He decided to put that nagging feeling away and started walking toward the woman.

She was still coughing while holding her stomach and it wasn't until Oliver was in front of her that she realized he was there.

The warrior, mage, and archer were confused about what he was doing until he plunged one of the swords into her heart killing her instantly.

"Nooo!" The mage screamed and the 2 earth spears above him shot towards Oliver while the third one forming was canceled as the mage lost focus.

Shock appeared on the archer's face before he aimed his arrow at Oliver's heart before letting go.

The boy's face was impassive as he pulled the sword from her body and dodge the two earth spears while cutting the arrow in half.

He started sprinting towards the mage and archer.

The archer tried to hit Oliver with more arrows, but he missed every shot.

Unlike before when he could predict Oliver's movements because the boy was in a fight, Oliver had more freedom now, coupled with his speed, the archer knew he was done for.

Oliver arrived in front of the archer and swung one of the swords downward.

The archer panicked as he wasn't a close-ranged fighter and blocked using his bow.

The sword cut through the bow like butter and didn't stop until it cut the man in half.

The mage watched as two of his best friends died before him and fell to his butt while trying to crawl away.

"Demon! Demon! Get away from me! Getaway!" The mage screamed as Oliver walked toward him.

Oliver's face didn't change in the slightest as he arrived in front of the mage.

The twin swords were by his side as he looked down on the hysterical mage.

'Why am I being called the demon when you guys attack me first?.' Oliver thought before cutting off the man's neck.

He used his inventory skill to store the mage's spellbook and magic staff before walking back toward the hybrid.

The man was still knocked out cold from Oliver's earlier attack so he died peacefully as the sword separated his head from his body.

'As you taught me something before dying, I'll let you have a peaceful death.' Oliver thought before looking at the notifications he missed

'Hmm, what's this.' Oliver bent down and looked at the hybrid's body. In one of his pockets, Oliver found a small white flag.

He picked it up and examined it, but found nothing special about it. Oliver stored it in his inventory before dusting off his clothes.

He put his hands in his pockets and started to run away from the scene. His stamina was getting low, and all the noise from his battle might have attracted some unwanted attention for him.

'Now all I have to do is wait a few minutes and see what happens.' Oliver thought while turning a corner and he regretted his thoughts right away.

'Is this karma.' He sighed while taking out the twin swords from his inventory and getting ready to fight again.

In front of Oliver were 5 AVX12s and at least 100 men armed with guns. Everyone was silent as nobody expected the other to appear in front of them like this.
