I'll Make Her Pay

(Daniel's POV)

I frowned as I ended a call with Derek where I informed him about the big event that was coming up in the casino. He sounded uninterested like always but I hope he wasn't thinking of skipping this one as well.

I watched the maid coming towards me. "Yes, Rita?" I asked.

"Sir, Darryl is here to speak with you." She informed me.

It was late already but I hoped he had good news.

I stood and walked to meet him. I saw him sitting on the couch, looking relaxed. "Yes Darryl? What happened?" I asked, sitting down on a couch in front of him.

"Good day sir, we went there yesterday but the people are clearly against it." He replied.

"Darryl, why'd I care about the people, I just want the land that's lawfully and rightfully mine." I said, getting upset.

"So what should we do next, boss?"

"What else should you do except to break down the buildings. Look Darryl, I need that place for a project and I need to finish it in three months, so I'm sure you know what to do with that being said."

"Alright boss, we'll demolish it by tomorrow but there's a lady in particular that is retaliating."

I frowned upon this. "We'll go there tomorrow." I informed him before standing up. I had no time to explain myself and I hated stress and these people were clearly stressing me.

"Boss? Are you really going there tomorrow?"

"Yes and it's not that I don't trust you but I'd like to see things for myself."

He nodded in understanding. "Alright boss."

I went back into my room again and prepared for the online business meeting.

"Daniel, we want to know how long it would take you to understand that we need that land. I personally paid lots of money for that land for fuck sake." A client complained. This was what I passed through almost everyday.

"We'll have to terminate the contract if this continues." Another client relayed.

"There'll be no need for that." I said calmly. "I'm working on it as we speak and by tomorrow they will bring down everything there."

"Good, especially if you're sure that the land is truly yours and you've settled the farmers there then we're all advising you to do it as soon as possible."

I nodded. "Sure.. I'll do that as soon as possible," I said with gritting teeth.

The call ended but I was already fuming. I really hated it when people tell me what to do when I know I was working on it. It just felt like they were adding pressure and it's annoying.

The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to go there tomorrow. They were clearly getting on my nerves and I wanted this sorted out quickly.

---

"Boss, we are already here," Darryl said on the phone.

"I'll be coming out," I said, putting on my wristwatch and staring at the mirror.

Straightening my suit, I walked downstairs afterwards. I stepped outside of the house, taking long strides.

Darryl opened the car door and got in after me. "Boss, I've made arrangements so the place would be going down today."

"Good because I hate delay." I said and looked at my wristwatch.

We got there 2 hours later. It was a pain in the ass that I had to sit for that long because of those worthless people. We got to the place, it was nice and the farms were rich but then I couldn't care less about it.

"Tell everyone to stay inside during the demolition."

"Even when they ask for listening ears or pleas?" Darryl asked, a bit astonished.

"They lost their chance the minute they stressed me out." I replied coldly.

I looked around the place and saw the villagers there.

They started asking for my audience. "Boss, what should we do?"

"Nothing of course. Let's watch them do whatever they threaten to do. We'll see how things goes," I said flatly.

They started pleading and I couldn't help but smile slyly. So predictable, I mused inwardly.

Now this would teach them a lesson. I smirked. Maybe it could but it didn't because before I could get a hint of the situation, a stone was thrown at the car in front of mine.

I instinctively turned to look at where the stone was thrown from only to see a young girl being held back by someone. I found myself staring and paid little attention to Darryl who was telling me about the situation and before I could stop myself from doing something so dumb, I rolled down the glass without thinking clearly.

"Boss!" Darryl called in shock when a stone flew straight in and landed on my face, actually my nose and I started bleeding.

He rolled up the glass and I turned to look just to see the girl looking at the car in shock.

Damn that lady! I'll get her for this. I cursed repeatedly.

"Boss I think we should retire for today and continue tomorrow besides we've already taken down some buildings already."

I nodded. "We should continue tomorrow," I said with pain as I held my bleeding nose.

We got back and I did not expect to see who sat in on the couch in my living room.

"Daniel! Oh my God what happened to you?" The voice of the woman resounded as she looked shocked while walking hastily towards me.

"Are you asking me or God?"

"Daniel, that is not funny," she retorted.

"And I'm not laughing."

"Then me what happened," she insisted.

"Nothing mum," I said and attempted to walk past her but paused when I heard her asking Darryl.

"Well.. the boss was stoned by a lady when he wanted to demolish the place," he conveyed.

"Daniel what did he just say?" She asked, turning to me.

"I don't know, maybe you should ask him again," I said and walked to my room while she called after me.

I was really angry. Darryl came knocking on my door moments later.

"What should we do tomorrow?" He asked, sitting in front of me.

I was holding a wet towel to clean my bleeding nose. "Don't do anything, in fact don't go there tomorrow."

Darryl looked shocked, not expecting me to change my mind. He knew me quite well I guess. "Wait for my signal," I said dangerously.

Darryl nodded, finally understanding something.

There was no way I'd let them get away so easily. Not until I see them tremble while they beg. Especially that lady who had the guts to throw a stone at me.

But who was she?.
