Before I Make You Sleepless

Devon watched her red lips with a dark gaze. He moved the strands on her face behind her ear. His free hands were placed on the bed to keep himself up as he watched her before he moved his face to her ear as whispered.

"Now sleep before I make you sleepless." He warned with a dangerous voice. Isla trembled lightly with his cold voice. Then he pulled her hand from his shirt and stood up properly before he watched her sleep for some time then he walked out.

Oliver was still struggling to walk. He already brought Logan in so he only had to go back to his own room. He finally got there and sat on the bed with a hiss.

He heard a knock before someone pushed the door open. Oliver watched Devon stepping with something in his hand which he placed on the table.

"For your wounds," Devon said when Oliver passed him a questioning look.

"Thank you, I'll treat Logan." He informed him but Devon just blankly looked at him. Devon exhaled then turned back to leave.

"So how's Isla?" Oliver hurried to ask.

Devon paused and turned his head to look at him. "She's fine." He replied just when Oliver believed he would ignore him.

He nodded with a frown. He still wanted to check on her at least to see how she was doing.

"Rest down and check on her tomorrow." Devon said before he walked out of the room. He went back to Isla's room and watched her, for some odd reason he felt like he should be there watching her.

He started thinking about what happened and how he saved her. If he had come a minute late then he was sure Isla would have been dead by now and that thought didn't sit well with him.

Isla woke up with her throat burning in pain and she needed water. She sat up on the bed, swinging her legs down as she looked around for water. Her eyes landed on a cup of water placed on the table. She rushed to it and finished it immediately. Her throat still hurt like hell and it felt sore after the strangling she suffered yesterday. Speaking of which, she could still remember how death seemed to breathe on her face as it called her in.

What happened next? She had no idea yet she remembered she felt someone carrying her then someone whisper behind her ear, telling her to sleep or he would make her sleepless?.

There was no one there now so who could it have been.

A knock came in, waking her up from her thoughts. She waited for the person to enter her. Oliver stepped inside the room.

"Uncle!" She stood up and rushed to hug him. He enveloped her in a tight hug. She pulled away to stare at his face while he did the same with a worried look.

"What about Logan?" She asked worriedly.

Her uncle was silent and she waited for his response desperately. He felt her intense stare and looked at her reluctantly.

"Well.. he was really badly injured and he is still unconscious." He relayed.

Isla felt her heart sink. "What should we do?"

Before he could speak, a knock came and the door cracked open before a head popped out from between the small opening at the door.

"My mother wants to have a word with you outside." The little girl informed them.

She left shortly. Isla passed Oliver a questioning gaze.

"I don't know why so let's find out for ourselves," Oliver suggested and she agreed and they walked out together.

The little girl led them to the stable. Isla saw the woman, standing with the twins talking to her.

Isla gradually walked over to them with her eyes looking at the twins. They felt the stare and turned to look at her.

"What happened to you both?" She asked.

"We were almost burnt alive. Someone set the house on fire."

"Then how did you survive?" Isla asked not believing that they almost died.

"Someone came to our rescue," Ava said and looked behind Isla. Isla frowned and followed her gaze just to see Devon walking gracefully towards them with that dark aura around him.

The minute he reached, Isla started questioning him angrily. "Where were you?"

Devon raised a brow at her. He turned to look at Oliver instead.

"I just asked a question, you know we almost died yesterday and you were nowhere to be found."

"Actually he was the one that saved us. So, the question should be answered by you. Where were you when we almost died?" Ava asked angrily.

"She almost died too, so lower your voice," he defended Isla. "You had no idea what could've happened to her if they-" Isla hit him at the side slightly so he wouldn't say everything that happened. He got the message and kept shut.

"So, I called you all here to apologize for what I did. I should've helped but I couldn't." The woman explained. "And I know you all would want to continue your journey back so I give you these horses to help lessen the stress." The woman said.

Isla smiled at the woman and she returned the smile.

"Where is Logan?" Amelie asked, trying to look around for him.

"Logan is badly hurt." Oliver informed her.

Amelia gasped. "Why? What happened?"

"A lot. I'll go get him, we need to go." Oliver said, ready to go.

"I'll get him," Devon replied before walking away. Isla remembered she hadn't seen her best friend since.

"Wait, I'll go with you," she called as she followed him inside.

Inside Logan's room, Isla gasped when she saw the bad injuries he had. "Is he going to be okay?" She asked in tears.

"Yes." Devon said plainly. Isla got pissed by this and she immediately stood up from the bed to face him.

"Where were you when we needed you?" She said, blaming him. She needed someone to blame in order to let out her frustration.

"Saving the twins?" He was unsure of what she meant by the question.

"And you left us there to die."

Devon watched her without saying anything. He didn't see the need to argue with her.

"We could have died and you weren't there, you weren't there," she said, hitting his chest lightly.

She soon got tired and let go of her pain as she cried out on his chest. Devon stood there unmoving but then he ever so slowly wrapped his arms around her protectively.

Isla cried her heart out in his arms while he rubbed her back gently. She eventually stopped but just stayed in his arms unwilling to pull away.

"Isla, what is going on?" She heard a hoarse voice from behind her. It was almost inaudible but she still heard it and hurriedly turned only to see Logan staring at her confusingly.
