“Luciano,” I said, “how well did you know Pietro Vassallo when you were in school together?”
“Well enough, why?”
“Do you think he would accept an invitation to fly up here to Conti, then on to Aragoni, if you accompanied him? My father will pay for it.”
“Possibly, but why?”
“My father is convinced that Pietro is part of a hitherto-unknown branch of his family, and he takes that very seriously. This would also involve a DNA test to prove it conclusively. Once he has proof, he wants to meet with Pietro and help him find his family.”
“Does your father think he can find Pietro’s family? After all, Pietro doesn’t even know who they are or were.”
