Confused Screaming

"A DREAM INSIDE A DREAM, WHAT EVEN IS THAT? A F*CKING WYVERN, BUT DREAMS DON'T HURT, WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON AAAAAA---"

Martha looked at her husband, as if this surprised her, "Babe, you see people riding monsters all the time, it's just a Wyvern, calm down!"

Sen looked at her, still thoroughly unconvinced, "Since when were you that strong? Am I missing something? Did I lose my memory or something? Because the last time I checked, none of that nonsense outside existed, I mean, I don't even remember marrying you? That seems like a MASSIVE cause for concern right there!"

Martha stared at him, there was genuine concern in her eyes, "Sen, please tell me you're joking, we got married last week, sorry for still calling you babe and all, I'm just not used to this whole marriage thing, there's no way you're being serious right now, right?"

Sen could tell that she wasn't fooling around, 'I don't know about those monsters, they can't be real, they just can't! But she's being serious, is it really possible that I've suffered from Amnesia, like... seriously? I'm married to my best friend? I mean sure, she's a stunning young woman, and she's got a big heart, BUT MARRIED? I can accept that much, MAYBE, but giant monsters with people riding them like horses, that's just too much! Unless I see something like that again soon, there's just no way I can begin to believe that this situation is real.'

Sen took out his phone, and unlocked it, and checked the date: 01/07/2063, 'That doesn't seem righ-'. "S-Sen? Please answer me right now!"

'Oh right, Martha!', he looked back at her, a deadly serious expression on his face, "I'm afraid not Martha... my love? I still can't get over that, I really can't remember anything, I just hope that this is short-term amnesia, and not long-term."

"OH MY- SWEET DRYGON'S BEARD!", tears started pouring her face, "YOU REALLY HAVE LOST YOUR MEMORIES! Babe, do you even love me anymore?"

Sen went pale, and desperately searched through his memories, there were some unfamiliar ones in there, he'd always been close with Martha, he definitely had a slight crush on her that had been slowly building up over the last few months, "I've always liked you Martha, and to be honest, I've always had a crush on you, and it seems like I may have forgotten everything that happened in life in the last couple of months, I mean, I remember going about work as usual. I remember nights out in the town-"

"What are you talking about Sen? It's too dangerous to spend nights out in town, just how much have you forgotten?"

Sen tilted his head at her this time, "Dangerous? In town at night? I'm not following here, please fill me in..."

Martha sighed, "This is all a lot for me to process, and it's clearly too much for you to process right now, I know that you want to know what's going on, but can we please do this when both of us have calmed down a little? Please Sen, let's go for a walk outside, get some fresh air, I think that we both need that right now. I won't hold your hand or walk arm in arm with you if you don't want that right now."

Sen nodded, "You're right, this is a lot to process, let's do that, I wouldn't mind at least holding hands, I know that sounds childish right now, and this may sound a little selfish, and I'm sorry if it sounds like that, but I just feel like I need some support from my best friend. We've at least got to act the part as well, if we seem like we're awkward around each other, people might think that we've had a falling out already!"

Martha smiled a little at that, it was a smile filled with concern and sympathy for her husband, but it was a smile, nonetheless. She felt a little happier knowing that he agreed with her suggestion, and Martha also felt relieved that he was still the same old Sen; the same tall, handsome, well-built Sen. He may have had not talent, he had no means of gathering any form of energy like Mana or Spiritual energy, but that didn't matter. She hadn't been looking for someone like that, sure, it had come as a surprise to find out that he hadn't awakened any sort of power, but unlike most guys she'd met out there, there were no false feelings, no over-friendly and clearly fake positive emotions. He had never been sexist, or misogynistic towards her, it was very clear he just saw her as a person, a person he dearly loved. So what if some of those feelings had died down for her due to his sudden lapse in memory? He still cared for her; he still considered her his best friend. 'It may take a while to get back to where we were, but we'll get there, I know we will.'

Her smile grew a little more as she thought this.

Sen could tell that she genuinely loved him, there was no lust-filled gaze, no over-the-top acting or masking her true self, he knew her well enough to know that she was always genuine with her emotions. He also smiled, and headed towards the door, "Let's go... Martha, my best and dearest friend."

Martha's smile grew even more, "Yeah, let's. We'll work this out together."

She locked the door on the way out, held out her hand, and Sen took it gingerly at first, but as they started to walk, he grew in confidence, he was still nervous, but holding hands wasn't nearly as bad as he'd thought it would be. As they walked out into the crowded streets of Tegoral, a distant rumble could be heard in the distance, Sen briefly wondered what it was, but he quickly forgot about it, as he and Martha were absorbed into the throng. They were both worried for different reasons, but it was now clear that they had a way to move forward.

(A/N: Sorry if any of that seemed cringey to you, I don't have much experience with writing about couples, especially if one of the characters is in a situation like Sen's.)

Another chapter done, just like that, it looks like I'll be able to write a lot more chapters than I thought I would in a day. It's much easier than I thought it would be. Some of you might be wondering where the system is, don't worry, it will definitely be introduced between Chapters 2 and 3 (This chapter is the first one, the previous chapter was the prologue). I will see how many chapters I can write; I'm testing the waters to see what my current limit is. The next chapter will probably be released a little later, it is currently being written. Feel free to give some stones, but don't feel pressured to do so.
