2 Hiding Secrets From Heaven

John may have the unabashed heart of a lion, the swift wings of an eagle, and the libido— no, virility!— virility of an ox, but John always feared being watched.

That's why, before his premonition of discovery and death came true, John chose to leave the main temple on Derob and ascend the steps to the Heavenly Plane.

John's wings burst with power, so despite his 8-year-old appearance, he flashed by in the blink of an eye. Soon, the Heavenly Plane grounded him to its singular stairway.

John stopped at the 13th step. He shuffled over to its rightmost corner while tapping methodically on the stairs all the way. Suddenly, a crack opened, just barely enough for a small boy to squeeze through.

John quickly entered and exited even faster with his precious, yet dangerous, prize in his hands. It was a small, plain-looking book but it radiated an aura of intrigue.

"You can't judge me for hiding secrets on Derob. I dare you bullies to try me! You hypocrites fall in love with those sick and twisted mortals! So why can't I do what I want? Hmph!" John muttered to himself.

He checked the book again, finally satisfied his divine power could not detect it. He flew towards the barrier between the planes of mortality and immortality but suddenly was stopped! The barrier squeezed John's body in mid-air and his book flew from his hands, destined to land somewhere he could never find again.

"Noooo!!!" he wailed miserably before he convulsed into unconsciousness.

Meanwhile...

On Derob...

Two weeks. Two weeks went by without the guidance of the Heavens, for the first time ever. Not even a single person got feedback from their guardian angel. In fact, no angels at all came nor any archangels to explain why.

The guidance from Principalities disappeared and Priests became aimless. The Powers bestowed to Chosen no longer spoke. The Virtues became quiet and so did the Nobles. The Pillars of the Dominions gave no more revelations to the Kings.

Archbishops lost touch with their Thrones, which became nothing more than tools. The Pope himself could not talk to Nathan, his Cherub.

The Pope, better known as Papa Frank, sat on a rocking chair in the highest steeple of his Church. His eyes looked to the sky, waiting for a sign for what is to come. The Beasts' hordes grew faster and the war against the Demons came closer and closer to failure.

"The Dark Lord Chen Chen is too strong. His powers are beyond what we can deal with alone... God, is this part of your plan? Please, tell me!" Papa Frank implored the beautiful and clear skies.

A moment of silence passed.

"Nothing... Have the Heavens finally abandoned us? It can't be. God said we were made in His image! We protected His sanctity and loyally worshiped Him! This must be a test of our faith... a test..." Papa Frank murmured each word quieter than the next.

He stood up and walked away, his back hunched by the weight of responsibility.

Suddenly, a light flashed and smashed through all the protections, wards, and walls to crash right into the Pope!

He flew through the air like a cripple thrown off a bridge and landed as a bloody pile.

Papa Frank frantically healed himself, using almost all his treasures to save his pitiful life. Finally, his eyes fell on what had done so much damage.

"This is... God's Judgement!?" Papa Frank gasped.

The plain-looking book was the holiest object he ever felt. It was created purely from the desires of God himself! Or so, Papa Frank thought.

He looked at the first page. At the top, the words, "The Pimp Life of John" were drawn by the most stylistic calligraphy ever to exist in Derob. The words underneath, "by The Overlord of All Existence, John" thrummed with power and authority.

Papa Frank cried, being so blessed that he was the only one that God deemed worthy to receive his true teachings.

Derob would change forever.
