What will you do if the gods above grant you a second opportunity in life? She was born and raised in a world where the powerful prey on the weak and the poor only get poorer. She was simply an unwanted child who struggled as she grew up. She lost people who meant a lot to her, and this devastated her to the point of ending her miserable life. However, just as she thought that was the end of her life, she was given a second shot but it came with conditions. She was so tempted by the promise of receiving assistance from a system that would allow her to soar like an eagle and live beautifully like a phoenix that she accepted the offer. Irene had no clue her new life would be so full of baggage, secrets, and madness. She was alone in a world that was unlike anything she had ever experienced. Many envied her and others conspired against her after she transmigrated into the body of an affluent and pampered noble lady who never lacked anything. When Irene finds herself in a situation like that, she will be forced to demonstrate her brilliance by transforming conceptions into true wonders to vanquish her enemies, transforming her from a pheasant to a phoenix. Irene will be pushed to combat an enormous evil power to fight for what she believes in and the person she adores. Will she be able to achieve the goals that she had set for herself at the beginning and become the virtuous wife she was nurtured to be? Will she grow up and become the person she aspires to be? Will she be able to overcome her strong opponent?
"Who in the world are you?" Arianna was so enraged that she wanted to punch the other person in the face.
"Hahaha, you should have seen the light sooner instead of playing with your life like a love fool," the girl mocked her again, and Arianna raised her eyebrows with interest this time. This girl seems interesting, and Arianna couldn't wait to see how this pep talk ended.
"I suppose you have nothing else to do, but I am busy and have things that I need to do," Arianna said softly, her face contorted in a forced smile.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. We've never really talked, so you may not recognize me, but consider me a huge fan of yours. You can call me Freya, Freya Jenkins," the girl finally introduced herself, easing tensions between the two.
"Nice to meet you as well, Freya. If you don't mind, how about we hang out later, maybe at lunch, since I need to run?" Arianna suggested, despite the fact that she didn't find Freya particularly annoying. She could tell Freya meant well, and the fact that she was so outspoken meant that she wasn't a phony like Amy or other girls she'd met.
"That could also work. Pass me your phone, I'll save my contacts," Freya said as she extended her hand to Arianna.
Arianna had no choice but to take her phone from her front pocket and hand it over to Freya. Freya couldn't help but gasp as she took Arianna's phone.
It was at times like these that Freya was reminded that Arianna came from a wealthy family, one that was even wealthier than her own. Freya, unlike Arianna's family, came from new money, and as someone who had experienced poverty, she was outspoken and despised it when people were over the top, regardless of who they were.
Arianna was like a lost child, unable to think clearly because she was head over heels in love with a man who didn't give a s**t about her. Freya felt pity for her and wanted to befriend her, but Arianna was unapproachable, so it never worked.
So seeing Arianna change after her suicide attempt caught her off guard, and she wanted to see for herself if she had truly changed or if she was faking it, and the best way to test it was to block her way the same way she did.
If Freya had been the old Arianna, she would have flipped out and turned everything upside down, but because of her calm demeanor, Freya received her answer, and she liked it very much.
Freya carefully entered her phone number and saved it to Arianna's phone. She also noticed that her phone book was lacking, with fewer than twenty contacts, which was unusual for someone of Arianna's caliber.
Freya, too, had more contacts in her phone than Arianna, and after seeing this, Freya began to feel sorry for Arianna. After all, people shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
Freya made the decision to sacrifice herself and become Arianna's friend so that Arianna would not be lonely or duped by the scheming girls who surrounded her when she was still fine. But no one came to see her while she was in the hospital.
"When did our noble lady start associating with these types of people? Why have I never noticed this before?" As Esther approached Arianna with her group of friends, she asked sarcastically.
Arianna rolled her eyes at Esther, unable to believe that this girl had not learned her lesson and had sought her out after her defeat. It was true what they said about enemies being doomed to meet.
"I'm always wondering if you have a huge crush on Esther. Do you find your heart aching every time you don't see or talk to me?" Arianna asked Esther an unexpected question, causing the other girl to choke on her saliva. Freya suppressed her laughter as she looked at Esther, who had been defeated by a single sentence.
"You have a lot of guts, Arianna. Who has a thing for you? I simply don't like you; don't overthink it," Esther stuttered in response to Arianna, causing Arianna to laugh.
To be honest, Arianna didn't find Esther as annoying as she used to. Esther, like herself, was a lost cause, but with some enlightenment, she would be on the right track.
"There is a fine line between love and hate, dear," Arianna winked at Esther, making her fume with rage. She decided to leave and enter the building after determining that Esther would not become a burden to her. There was no way in hell she was going to let this childish girl ruin her day.
"That was a clever move. I'll call you at lunch," Freya said as she waved goodbye to Arianna.
With Freya gone, Arianna gave Esther a brief glance before shaking her head. Esther could see Arianna's pity in her eyes, which enraged her, but she knew that acting would be foolish because it would backfire against her.
Esther could only engage in verbal battles with Arianna, as words were sometimes more painful than fights. And if she causes Arianna any physical harm, not only will she be in trouble, but her entire family will be in trouble as well.
There was a reason why adults never intervened in junior fights, and it was because of this that no one had intervened before, even if Esther humiliated Arianna or engaged in any of the fights that they had always done since they were children.
Esther decided to go to her own building after seeing Arianna leave, regardless of how angry she was, because she didn't want to get into trouble on the first day. Arianna will always be there for her, so she had time to retaliate and regain the honor she had lost twice after meeting Arianna.
Arianna had no idea she had motivated Esther, and there was more to come before she could be straightened out and put on the right track, but that was something for the future and something Arianna didn't need to worry about right now. What mattered at the time was how she would cope at school and what she would do with her new friend Freya.
