Knock! Dang! Knock-- A sharp knock on the door suddenly rang in his ears, followed by a man's urgent voice coming through the door, "Matthew, why did you kick the makeup artist out? The director and the female lead are already in place, the entire crew is waiting for you, the male lead, you still have fifteen minutes!" ----------------------- It's 1 chapter per day at 1 p.m. (Arizona) in every novel I upload. 3 daily chapters in each novel on patreon! p@treon.com/INNIT ----------------------- DISCLAIMER The story belongs entirely to the original author.
Inside the cream-colored European-style building, guided by the real estate agent, Matthew toured the mansion, awestruck by its luxury. The living room featured a huge bar stocked with whiskey, brandy, and vodka. Directly opposite the bar was a glass curtain wall offering a panoramic view of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.
"This spot was one of the most famous viewpoints in Beverly Hills in the seventies," the real estate agent explained as he drew closer to Matthew and Charlize Theron. "It was later transformed into this luxurious mansion by a property development company."
He pressed a button on a remote, and a curtain above the glass wall slowly descended. "If you prefer not to have the view, just lower this special curtain."
Matthew gestured for the agent to raise the curtain again.
"How do you feel about it?" Matthew was somewhat tempted.
The mansion's privacy measures were exceptionally well-implemented, and the interior's tech-savvy European decor made standing by the massive glass wall, overlooking most of Los Angeles, an intoxicating experience.
As an ordinary person, it was natural for him to be drawn to such grandeur.
Seeing that Charlize Theron hadn't responded, Matthew added, "I think it's quite nice."
Charlize stepped forward to the left side of the glass curtain wall, near a cliff. There was a securely fenced outdoor viewing platform. It indeed looked impressive.
"The decision to buy the house is yours," she whispered to Matthew. "You make the call."
After some thought, Matthew told the agent, "Mormon, let's check out other places."
They first visited the gym, indoor pool, dining room, grand banquet hall, wine cellar, and private cinema on the first floor and basement. Then, Matthew and Charlize followed the agent upstairs. The master bedroom was directly above the living room, sharing the commanding view through another large glass wall.
Matthew peered out from the glass, then inspected the bathroom and its uniquely shaped large bathtub.
The real estate agent, adept at reading clients, approached the tub and announced, "The bathtubs in this mansion are each carved from a single block of stone, each costing up to a hundred thousand dollars!"
He added, "Of course, this, like the liquor and all other amenities, is included in the total price of the house."
After circling the bathroom, Matthew returned to the spacious master bedroom, which connected to an expansive walk-in closet.
He sought Charlize's opinion again before checking the other rooms on the second floor. After leaving the mansion, they visited the tennis court on the left and a small garden on the right, gradually forming his decision.
This 7000+ square meter mansion, though not the largest in Beverly Hills, was considerably spacious with satisfactory facilities, especially in terms of privacy.
The agent continued to linger around Charlize, mistakenly assuming she was the decision-maker.
Such a luxurious mansion was a scarce commodity in Beverly Hills, yet due to its high price, it typically remained unsold for months or even years, as only a few could afford such estates, and those who could had many options.
"Let's call it a day," Matthew suggested to Charlize, deliberately saying, "Although it would be nice as our new home, there are a few more places to see before deciding."
Charlize nodded, "Okay."
She wasn't planning on marrying Matthew; the house-hunting was merely a performance. Matthew could buy wherever he wanted.
As they walked back to the gate, Matthew mulled over financial considerations.
Currently, he didn't have sufficient funds and couldn't pay over twenty million dollars upfront. However, it was nearly the end of April, and by June, the next two sequels of "Pirates of the Caribbean" would start filming, and Disney would pay his first installment. The initial endorsement payment from Mercedes-Benz was also expected by late May or early June.
That would cover the first installment for the house, and given his current fame, securing a mortgage for such a large amount wouldn't be difficult.
Luxury houses, cars, and women were pursuits many desired, and Matthew was no exception.
He was quite satisfied with the mansion and was considering buying it.
The house was large, with luxurious amenities, tall walls, and dense evergreen broadleaf forests on three sides. The rear was protected by a nearly ninety-degree cliff, ensuring maximum privacy.
However, Matthew wasn't foolish enough to declare his intent to buy immediately. He knew the mansion had been on the market for over half a year and, given its high price, attracting genuine buyers would take time.
As they reached the iron gate, Matthew and Charlize's cars were already parked outside, with a swarm of paparazzi and reporters barely visible beyond.
"Mr. Horner..."
The agent was eager to close the deal. Although Los Angeles had many wealthy residents, few potential clients were as high-profile as Matthew.
Ignoring the agent's attempt to continue the conversation, Matthew called over Bella Anderson and
said to the agent, "Mormon, this is my assistant Bella. If there's anything, she will contact you."
After exchanging contact details, Matthew invited Charlize, "Shall we go to my place?"
Charlize shook her head, "I need to visit Dior's branch on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles."
Understanding her plans, Matthew nodded, "See you tonight. I'll wait for you to have dinner together."
Hearing this, Mormon looked at Matthew and then at Charlize, his confidence in selling the mansion boosted, as it seemed the stars were eager to move in together...
As the black sedan and SUV left the mansion, Mormon watched enviously, knowing he could never afford such a grand residence in his lifetime.
Back at the gate, he was suddenly surrounded by reporters, momentarily caught off guard but quickly regaining composure.
Without needing to prompt, he knew why they had approached. Recent newspapers and internet sites were abuzz with rumors about Matthew Horner and Charlize Theron. The Hollywood stars had been publicly displaying their happiness and affection, eliciting envy from many observers.
Even the media praised them as a perfect match, the coolest couple in Hollywood, and the most attractive boyfriend-girlfriend duo in North America.
TMZ had even claimed the pair were meant to be together.
If there were a hot topic in Hollywood gossip recently, it was certainly Matthew Horner and Charlize Theron.
One of the reporters asked, "Sir, were you just serving Matthew and Charlize?"
Excited after the initial nervousness, Mormon quickly replied, "Yes, that's me! I showed them this house, and they were very satisfied. It's one of the best in Beverly Hills, with the most advanced security systems..."
He inadvertently turned his response into an advertisement for the mansion.
"Sir!" another reporter interrupted, "Can you confirm if both Matthew Horner and Charlize Theron are buying?"
"I'm absolutely certain of that!" Recalling Matthew's attitude during the tour, Mormon said, "Whenever I showed them a place, Matthew would seek Charlize's opinion as if she was the real decision-maker. Luckily, Miss Theron was very pleased with this mansion, which was built on Beverly Hills' most famous viewing platform..."
He began advertising the property again.
"We know it's a mansion! We can't afford it!" A female reporter interjected, cutting off Mormon, who paused and asked, "Are Matthew and Charlize planning to build their love nest here?"
Eagerly nodding, Mormon replied, "Yes, Matthew mentioned more than once that they plan to move in together." After answering, he again praised, "Ladies and gentlemen, this property is truly excellent, overlooking..."
His spiel was cut short as the reporters dispersed as quickly as they had gathered, showing no interest in his property details.
Scratching his head, Mormon watched the departing reporters and muttered, "This really is a unique mansion in the Los Angeles area!"
Sadly, no one responded to his comment.
As May approached, North America's new summer movie season was about to start. The promotional campaign for "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" intensified across newspapers, magazines, the internet, and TV stations, with billboards in major cities featuring large posters of Matthew and Charlize Theron.
However, regular promotional methods were not enough, so Matthew, following a plan set the previous year, prepared to propose to Charlize Theron.
