Chapter 15: The second prophecy

"Come on in." Esmee said as she and Valentina entered her bedroom. "I need to text my siblings, and then we can get started." So, apparently there is a second prophecy about me, She texted. I don't know whether to be scared or elated, but somehow I have a second prophecy about me, The Moon Bearer Prophecy. She sent the message as Valentina sat down on her bed. I will let you know when I have more information. She pulled out her pencil case and sat down on the bed. "Right, where do we start?"

"Hey, Esmee just sent a text." Claudia said to Savannah as she got up from her desk, checking her phone. "So apparently, there is a second prophecy about Esmee."

"Huh, who would have thought?" Savannah replied, her attention remaining on the task of outlining a book. "I wonder if it would make a good story."

"I don't know, but I am making a note regardless." Claudia replied, making a note in her notebook. "Apparently, the Prophecy refers to someone referred to as The Moon Bearer."

"It feels weird, not having Esmee around." Jeremy said as he, Claudia, Savannah, Joshua and James sat down for lunch.

"Too weird." Savannah replied. "It feels even weirder not having her stuff everywhere in our bedroom."

"Speaking of our dear sister," Claudia interrupted. "Apparently she found a second prophecy that relates just to her, The Moon Bearer prophecy." She took a drink of her water. "Do you think it is possible that there is more than one prophecy about us?"

"Quite possibly." James replied. "I mean, five out of the six of us are getting married to non-humans."

"We should probably ask our spouses." Joshua said. "They would know more about any prophecy than any of us."

"This is true." Claudia replied. "We are all meeting up the day after tomorrow at noon, so we should probably ask the others sooner rather than later, so that they have something to present at the meeting."

"How is it going?" Hunter asked several hours later as he popped his head in. Esmee looked down at her notebook, half filled with notes.

"Rather well." She replied. "Is there something I can help you with?"

"There is a meeting happening in six hours, and because you are the new Luna you should be there." He left the room.

"What is happening tonight?" Esmee asked Valentina.

"You are the Luna. You need to be introduced to the top brass of the pack, not to mention the elders." Valentina explained. "Plus, there is a good chance that The Moon Bearer prophecy will be discussed. After all, it is the day after your wedding."

"Holy hell." Esmee let out an exasperated breath. "That soon after getting married?"

"We are in a kind of a time crunch with the Pair of Triplets prophecy."

"But I have only just started to grasp the fact that there is a prophecy surrounding me and my siblings, let alone possibly 7." Esmee complained. "I am not prepared to start talking about these prophecies with people who are outside the bubble I have created."

"I know. If it helps, I will be right there." Valentina said in a soothing voice.

"Can I invite my sisters?" Esmee asked, her voice starting to shake.

"We can ask Hunter." Valentina suggested. "Do you want me to go and find him?"

"Yes, please."

"Alright, I will be back momentarily." Valentina got up from her spot on the bed and left the room.

The nerves that had settled in Esmee's stomach gave her too much adrenaline for her to sit still. Not knowing what else to do, she got off the bed and started pacing the room. I wonder if the notes we have collected have anything on a ceremony, She thought, picking up the notebook and flipping through it. Finding nothing in the ceremony, she went back to pacing.

"Is everything okay, my dear Esmee?" Hunter asked as he reentered the room, his eyes wide in panic.

"No." She replied. "Valentina thought that there might be some discussion about The Moon Bearer prophecy tonight. Is this going to be the case?"

"I don't know." He confessed. "This meeting is arranged by the village elders. While I do know that every elder and every member of the chain of command will be there, I won't truly know why it has been called until we get there. Out of everyone in the pack, the elders are the most secretive."

"Can I have my sisters there?" Esmee asked. "I would feel much better."

"Certainly."
