12 12•Claire and Lucy

(AN:Hi whiner here!, anyways I know I been saying this a lot but that development thing is so complicated to me because I don't know how to portray it so you MIGHT wanna drop this book if you think I'm gonna do a great job on that(news flash I'm not) and the other thing I want to say is that this chapter THAT YOUR going to read is MY way of them developing, this IS A CHAPTER of development, so as you can see or going to read, you may want to drop knowing I'm not gonna develop them well BUT FOR ME I AM DEVELOPING THEM WELL.)

About a month had passed since the Coal digger incident that Luke may or may not have instigated. That was sorted out but another small problem, but big for Claire, was born that day.

Claire saw her baby girl, kissing a boy, not just any boy, Will, and to make it worse, she was the one who kissed Will. Her sweet brainiac little daughter.

Claire:"What were you thinking?!"

Alex:"Mom, we had this conversation for the past month and it was just a good moment"

Claire:"Is he still avoiding me?"

Alex:"No"

Claire:"Then why haven't I seen him for the past month but the others have?"

Alex:"Because, you look like you wanted to kill him that day"

Claire:"That is not….anyways I am over that, considering how I caught Haley down her boyfriend throat"

She mumbled the last part as she stopped before a sidewalk with Alex starting to get out

Claire:"Just make sure to tell him that I'm over it and I don't mind as long as it's not in front of me"

Alex:"Mom. You're holding up the line!"

Alex got out as she walked into the school without looking back. Alex had to admit that even she didn't know how she did that but she guessed it was in the heat of the moment plus with the awkward gesture she did.

Arriving at her classroom she noticed Will sitting there with his phone out as the teacher was nowhere to be seen.

Will looked up noticing footsteps as he smiled and waved at her as she smiled mischievously. Truth to be told, that wasn't their last kiss. Over the past month Will initiated two kisses while Alex only one. That's it, so far four in total and Alex was sure they were alone with nobody watching as they practiced on each other with the furthest they been to was using the French kiss Alex looked up on the internet.

She was clearly still awkward on the whole kissing thing as Will didn't press much into it with only holding hands but even that was still to much for Claire as she literally ran out of the car when she was waiting for Alex to come get her from school. Will was lucky that he was much more healthier than a women in her 30s? So he was able to escape her grasp.

And thank god Claire hasn't known about Alex practicing her kisses with Will as she would freak out and never stop stalking them but luckily she has only known about then kisssing once.

2 months into their relationship, Alex was still awkward around the other students as the they would now talk to her while she would sometimes refuse holding hands with Will. Knowing Alex, it was still too much for her who basically only focused on school most of the time until Will came.

Now her focus was on her schoolwork and Will which was surprisingly easy to manage as they both were doing good with all A's, and she would sometimes, maybe once and twice a week, go out with Will and their dad or Haley.

This was also another change she notice Will had on her. She realized that unlike before, she was getting to go out on days where she would use to do her reading or homework.

But still doing her school work when ever she got the chance. Also realizing that whenever they went out with Phil, Alex wondered if Will considered it a date. After all, is it really a date with your parents there?

Will answered her question with a yes as Alex got confused, wasn't it normally only between two people?

Yes, but Alex realized that they weren't going to be alone while dating any time soon considering her mom worrying about her to much, but she realized it didn't bother Will much with her getting the answer and it was, that he really didn't mind if her family was there, He enjoyed the time spending with her…while also making some snarky answers, jokes, having laughs and most important of all, Having a smile.

She had to admit, she felt the same way

Will:"Oh yeah, my mom is gonna visit your mom"

That was the first thing Alex heard when she took a seat. She was angry and worried at the same time. Angry because how could Will not tell her even though she just got to class….Worried because what if something happens and she's there to break them up or maybe she doesn't like her.

Will:"Calm down Alex, she's only there to get to know your mom after all, they only met like two times so she's only there to get to know your mom more"

Alex:"Oh, yeah, I jus realized that you don't talk much about your family"

She took out her notebook from her bag as she looked at the smart board.

Will:"What's there to say? Dad is basically never home with mom almost busy helping him"

Alex:"That bad?"

Will:"Not that much, at least my mom makes time to be with me"

Will went to write on his notebook as he looked around and saw 7 students sitting in their desk. Some staring at them while the others were doing their own thing

Alex:"Oh…well if you want to talk about it, you know…I'm here, sorry I'm new to this"

Alex nervously chuckles as she scratched her head. Will only let out a smile and nodded.

Will:"How'd do you think it would go?"

Alex:"If my dad is there, there might be some problems but it'll go better without him there"

She said while writing with Will nodding.

While that was happening, Lucy, Will's mom, just parked her car out in the front of the Dunphy household as she got out wearing a black dress with some shades and a hand held purse.

Her blonde hair was curled up as she knocked on the door with Phil opening up with his mouth going up and down like a pufferfish.

Claire:"Phil? Who is- Oh,Lucy"

Lucy:"Hey Claire, it's nice knowing you didn't forget my name, is it alright if we talk?"

Claire:"Uh, yeah everything okay?"

Lucy:"I just wanted to come over and thank you and your daughter for making Will feel like he has a second family"

This left Claire and Phil shocked as thinking about it, she was right. Will was almost two or even three times with them once a week, four counting if Alex invited him over to study.

Claire:"Oh, I didn't realize he looked at us that way. Phil, why don't you go and wait to pick up Luke"

Phil:"But what about our run?"

Claire:"We can do it another day, I think Mrs.Zoloman wants to talk to me"

Phil:"What about me?"

Claire:"Yeah no, we don't need a drooler"

Claire started to push him out of the kitchen room as she smiled at Lucy

Phil:"What if Dylan was here"

Claire:"What about him?"

Phil:"I think you would've been drooling to"

Claire:"Ew gross, that's Haley boyfriend-"

Phil:"Will dad, Dylan"

Claire:"Oh…Well he isn't so go"

Phil:"Alright alright, just know this was another way you admitting you can't beat me"

Claire just rolled her eyes as she closed the door with Phil leaving.Heading back into the kitchen with a smile, she told Lucy to take a seat in which she gladly did. Claire came back with two cups of tea as she sat them down with her sitting down

Lucy thanked her and took a deep breath

Lucy:"Like I was saying, I just want to thank you for letting my wonderful little boy dating your beautiful daughter."

Claire:"Oh please, if anything I'm thankful for Will getting her out more but I wonder if going to a museum is…different than studying at home"

Claire chuckled nervously

Lucy:"Oh a museum? Were you with them?"

Claire:"No, I was actually trapped in my own house and spied on by my own daughter so Alex, Will and Phil went"

Lucy:"Oh, sorry if-"

Claire:"Oh don't be, it wasn't your fault, it was my husband for agreeing just to have a- that doesn't matter what brings you by?"

Lucy:"It's just that I noticed I haven't visited the special someone my Will has considered"

Claire:"oh Alex?"

Lucy:"Yes but that can wait, I want to get to know you more, we haven't talked in 2 months after all"

Claire:"Yes I noticed that…Will doesn't have you or his dad at home? Sorry if I'm being rude or poking my nose but-"

Lucy:"No your right, things have been so crazy at the company with overseas business and then there's other stuff as well, it's just…we haven't been there for the past 2 months that we would've liked but I'm glad he met Alex and your family. He always talks about you guys over the phone with me"

Claire took a long sigh, as she felt bad for Will, imaging him not having his parents attention for almost 2 full months….

Claire:"Really? Now I feel bad-"

Lucy:"Wait why?"

Claire:"I might've have overreacted when he kissed- when my daughter kissed him…"

Lucy let out a chuckle with Claire as well.

Lucy:"Don't be sorry, I don't know if you knew or not but Will is exactly like my husband Dylan, a charmer and a romantic person so that would've happened with the other way around sooner than you think "

Claire:"Oh it would've…"

Claire had a strained smile as she laughed. And like that, they spent all the morning and afternoon, talking amongst themself while getting to know each other better while also discussing some permissions and nots for their children.

Phil came in with Luke as they were quickly shooed away by Claire once Luke accidentally went under the table and searched for Phil camera. Claire was embarrassed by this but Lucy just laughed it off and claimed that they're house was lively which she'd mention that it was the opposite of theirs.

And like that, another hour passed with Will and Alex riding home together. At first Alex was confused on how they were able to ride alone together but they figured it out once they arrived in their house remembering Will's mom was here.

Getting off, Will got her cello case out from the back of the car and walked forward, Alex waited on the front porch as she waited for him and then entered the house with Luke opening the door who had a grin.

Alex:"Where's mom and dad?"

Luke:"Somewhere…uh-kitchen"

Will:"I'll put this in your room okay"

Alex:"Thanks Will."

She said turning with a smile at him and then turned back around and entered the kitchen

Alex:"Mom, I told Will and he's here with-Uh who?"

Lucy:"It's nice to meet you Alex. The names Lucy,Lucy Zoloman"

She had a smile as Alex just widen her face as she nodded slowly. Alex sat on a chair with Lucy dramatically sitting down and having a coffee cup in front of her.

While this was going on, Will just got up to Alex room and set down her cello case as suddenly a hand came over his mouth from behind.

This freaked Will out as he started to thrash around, not minding the noise him or the person behind was saying as he started to back up in the wall, kick around and throw back his head but he soon calmed down seeing Claire in front of him with a small smile.

The surrounding noise came back to him as he heard Phil groan out. While Will was not strong enough to overpower a full grown male, he was still smart enough to use the surrounding area to his advantage which Phil mistakenly missed

Now that his arms were free he stood up and noticed Phil on the Haley's bed grabbing his head and groaning out.

Phil:"I thought you said we were gonna take him together?"

Claire:"I thought about it, but I forgot to tell you that Cam see's him at the gym…my bad?"

Claire chuckled out as Phil just groaned even more with Will having a confused face

Will:"Wait what's-ohhhh,mom right?"

Claire:"Yeah but Phil here decide he could take you on to quote on quote He's just a kid"

Phil:"In my defense, when does a kid go to the gym?"

She just shook her head as she faced Will with him smiling nervously

Will:"Your not here to hurt me right?"

Claire:"Why would you think that?"

Will:"Because the last time I saw you it looked like I was about to die, hence the me avoiding you part"

Claire:"I…might have overreacted considering it wasn't your fault…and for that I'm sorry"

Will:"What?"

Claire:"I said I'm sorry"

Will nodded as Claire took a deep breath and sat on the edge of Haley bed while moving Phil foot off the bed with a groan.

Claire:"Just seeing that means my baby's are growing up and….well you know, don't want them to right phil?"

Claire patted Phil thigh as he just shook his head

Phil:"I think my backs broken…and my nose, and my front area."

Claire:"You'll be fine. Quote on quote kid."

She chuckled out as Phil just had a serious expression with Claire stopping and turning back to face Will.

Claire:"Anyway, Me and your mom came to some agreements and if you and Alex follow them then I wouldn't mind toning down my overprotectiveness.

Will:"What are they first?"

Claire:"Well first is agreeing to tone down the kissing to one time we are in your presence. The second is to at least let one of us accompany you and Alex to a date until high school"

Will:"I can do the first one but the second one is ehh-"

Claire:"Are you really trying to negotiate?"

Will:"50 feet back?"

Claire:"10"

Will:"20"

Claire:"15"

Will:"19"

Claire:"18"

Will:"50"

Claire:"Okay that went no where"

Will:"I know, just wondering if you know how long is 20 feet"

Claire:"Well….fine 50!"

Will smiled and nodded as Claire let out a deep breath and smacked the bed beside her but unfortunately she forgot phil was there and hit him making him groan

Phil:"The pain, just stop. Who knew kids could become so evil!"

They looked at each other as they shrugged and that's when they heard laughter coming and when the door opened, they saw Alex and Lucy standing side by side, with the former having a hand over her shoulder, laughing together.

Alex:"What's happening?"

Will:"Your parents jumped me"

Phil:"No, more like knowing the evilness kids can have these days on your elders"

Claire:"What he's trying to say is that we just wanted to talk"

Alex nodded slowly while looking at Will who just smiled and shrugged as he looked around, noticing a mess with books on the floor and the bed sheets in a mess, well more like Alex as Haley didn't do her bed.

Lucy:"Anyways, it was nice knowing my future daughter in law"

Will:"Mom!"

Lucy:"Oh stop it, this is probably the only time I'm able to embarrass you"

She laughed as Claire had her mouth in a O shape with Alex just blushing.

Outta nowhere Luke came out into the room with a BB gun and a football helmet with a baseball glove

Luke:"Ha!-Um…Don't make a sound?"

Luke looked around seeing everyone was here as he just scratched his helmet.

Phil:"Thanks for the backup buddy but I think you were a little bit to late"

Claire:"He was your backup? I thought you hired muscle!"

Phil:"To be fair, I didn't waste our money to handle a kid and second, Luke is muscle. Right buddy?"

Luke just stayed there playing with the BB gun

Claire:"You did fix it last time right?"

Phil:"Of course, I'm not an idiot"

Unfortunately or fortunately for Phil, it set off, hitting Will in the crotch area, leading him to fall on the ground with a pain sound. Claire and the rest of the girls started to help him out as Phil was laying there on the bed, using his elbows as support as he grinned while nodding slowly.

Luke:"I didn't do it!"

Luke threw it to the side hitting Phil in the crotch area with him running out of the room with Phil clutching his crotch.

Phil:"It's all coming back…"

(AN:see you guys next week!!!! remember, Monday to Sunday I consider a week. While posting at least 2 a week, don't know when but at least 2, but considering today is a month of my favorite holiday, consider each week until the end of December to have 4 chapters bye!!!! My break time YES!!!)
