Grandfather

"Of course, I'll inform her as soon as possible, sir", Penelope said. "That would be appreciated", the person on the phone said before he cut off the call. She sighed as she slouched on the sofa. "Alexi" she called out.

"Mhhh"

"Your father just called and he..."

"What do they want from me this time", she sighed. "How troublesome"

"This is serious Alex, he said you should hold a party to introduce yourself to the other members of high society"

"And if I don't", she questioned while typing away on her laptop

" Then you'll be relieved of your position as the company's branch CEO", she stated causing Alexi to stop what she was doing and stare at Penny. "I'm sorry, Alex. There isn't much I can do, this was a direct order from senior Mr. Miller, your grandfather', she stated in an apologetic tone. "It's not your fault, Penny, and can you arrange a meeting with my dear father and grandfather", she ordered. "Sure", Penny quickly answered.

'Who does he think he is to order me around, how dare he. Tch', she thought. 'What should I do, will he take the company away from me. He wouldn't, I'm the only person who is fit to be the heir, the others are too incompetent. They would be crushed under the immense pressure of running a company. No matter what they say, those guys need me beside I have a backup plan', she grinned.

A few hours later. Alexi was already in a car heading to the Miller estate. It has already been a month since she last saw her family, so this encounter should be exciting. Stepping out of the car she took long strides toward the front door where the butler was waiting for her. "Welcome miss", he greeted as he proceeded to lead the way to her grandfather's study. 'My God, even the butler does not respect me. He forgot to bow to me, how amusing', the fact that the butler forgot that she was still the young lady of this family rather amused her. Oh, how low she has fallen.

Arriving in front of the study's door the butler gently knocked on the door, "You may enter", a voice said from the inside. The butler entered first and Alexi followed behind him. "Master, miss Alexi has arrived", he announced causing everyone in the room to halt what they were doing and look at the girl that was with the butler. There were five other people in the room, excluding Alexi and the butler. The sofa on the right was occupied by Alexi's parents and the one on the left was occupied by Alexi's aunt and her husband, of course, her grandpa took the seat that was at the center.

"How unlike you, it seems using your position to control you isn't a bad idea", Jane commented as she looked at Alexi who decided to just stay quiet. Jason and Sarah did not even make an effort to greet their daughter and continued to sit on the sofa.

"Everyone out. I'd like to be alone with my dear granddaughter", Master Miller ordered.
