Dilapidated temple

Fu Jie saw a woman sitting in front of him, but he was reluctant to disturb the woman. She was dressed in elegant robes that were white in color and had a soft design printed on them.

With a single glance, Fu Jie was able to say that this woman was not someone simple. She probably belonged to a rich family.

Fu Jie looked around as he wondered where he was and how he got here, but he was unable to remember anything.

It looked as if he was in a temple, but the walls had cracks on them and there was barely any light inside this place. This was probably an old dilapidated temple and this woman was the only one kneeling before a podium that used to once have a statue placed there but it no longer had the statue and there were only three incense sticks burning in front of the woman that indicated that she was here to pray.

Fu Jie looked around for a bit but he could really not remember how he got here. The last thing he remembered was riding on top of the sprinting wolf. After that, everything was a blank for him.

Fu Jie looked at the woman's back again and finally decided to disturb her to ask where they were.

He reached his hand out and patted her shoulder as he asked, "Young miss, where are we?"

The young miss suddenly looked up but since she had her back turned to Fu Jie, her face was still not visible to him.

Fu Jie didn't know if it was just his imagination or if it was something real but he could almost swear that as soon as she turned her head upwards, the incense started burning even more strongly and the smoke filled the atmosphere more, almost making Fu Jie choke.

"Young brother, why are you here?" The woman asked and Fu Jie covered his mouth as he tried to filter out the smoke with the use of his sleeves.

"Where is here?" Fu Jie questioned back.

He didn't even know what this place was so naturally, he had no idea why he was here.

"Here?" The woman chuckled, her sweet voice seeming a bit creepy as it bounced inside the walls of the dilapidated old temple.

Fu Jie was curious to know who this woman was so he kept his eyes on her.

"This is the place where I died."

"Eh?" Before Fu Jie could digest the words, the woman suddenly turned around and looked straight at Fu Jie, but not really because there was something really important missing on her face: eyes.

There were two bloody holes on her face instead of eyes and her tongue that was definitely longer than a normal person's tongue was hanging out. Her skin was as white as a sheet of paper and Fu Jie was frightened at the sight.

He jerked back as he looked at the female ghost who only looked beautiful from behind.

"Young brother, are you scared?" Her tongue moved like a snake's as she stepped closer to Fu Jie.

Fu Jie was thoroughly creeped out and as he took a few more steps back, he stumbled and stupidly fell on his butt.

"Don't worry brother, you would also look like this." The female ghost continued as she moved closer to him.

"Aaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!"

Fu Jie immediately screamed and his own scream woke him up.

The next thing he knew, he was still sitting on top of the sprinting wolf and the twins were laughing at him.

Ah Bai, "Did you have a nightmare, brother Xia?"

Fu Jie had his mouth open as he frantically looked around in search of the female ghost. Only after a few minutes of searching did he realize that he was safe and sighed in relief.

Ah Lu, "Having a nightmare is nothing to be ashamed about. I have them too."

"Liar. Stop trying to make him feel better," Ah Bai commented in between her giggles.

In all honesty, even though the twins were young, there was hardly anything in this world that would scare them and hence, it was rare for them to ever have a nightmare.

Fu Jie was breathing heavily as he tried to calm his heart down. Once he had completely woken himself up from the nightmare, he instantly glared at Dai Xiaobo.

The nightmare... It was all his fault!

If he hadn't said anything about the victims from Yuexing, Fu Jie would have never had such a weird nightmare!

Dai Xiaobo skillfully ignored him as he closed his eyes and went into meditation.

"How long was I asleep?" Fu Jie asked as he sighed and decided to let the grudge against Dai Xiaobo go.

"Long enough," Ah Bai replied shortly.

"We are here." Ah Lu added.

The sprinting wolf was now slowly descending down and below them was a city that didn't look too big from above.

"That's Yuexing?" Fu Jie questioned.

Ah Lu nodded his head as he confirmed, "The most peaceful city in this entire region."

"You mean 'was'. This 'was' the most peaceful city in the entire region." Ah Bai corrected.

All the sprinting wolves that had almost disappeared came together once again and landed on the ground in front of the city.

The person who was most enthusiastic to get down from the sprinting wolf was probably Fu Jie who didn't even waste a single second before jumping down and finding a corner where he could try and puke out his internal organs.

It seemed that all the food he ate had already been digested as nothing came out from his mouth.

The twins also got down and Dai Xiaobo also wouldn't stay on top of the sprinting wolf.

"Good job, Ah Zhu." Dai Xiaobo patted the creature's head and the creature rubbed his head along the hand of the man in a loving manner.

Elder Dayu frowned as he looked at the city gate.

"That's weird," Elder Fang commented first as he looked at the gate.

The city gate of Yuexing had never been guarded but there were suddenly two guards standing in front of the gate and the gate was decorated with hanging lanterns.

Zheng Qiang, "A festival?"

Senior martial sister Yao Meirong, "Is there a special occasion?"

The reports had started coming a few weeks ago and they had to agree that they were pretty late for having come here to deal with it, however, the reports had never stopped coming and from the reports, one would guess that this city was in a crisis and the people were in distress, afraid to come out. They expected to see an empty city with a gloomy aura but instead of that, they came face to face with a city that couldn't seem happier.

The commoners were carelessly roaming the streets which were all lit up by lanterns that hung above it. There seemed to be a festival and the atmosphere was lively, making one double guess if they were in the right place or not.

This shouldn't be the Yuexing city that had suddenly gone through so much trouble, should it?

Senior martial sister Xu Lifen stepped up to the guards and asked, "Is there a festival?"

The guards looked to be taller and stronger than her, however, when they saw the light blue clothes that were worn by her, they bowed in respect as they answered, "It's the birthday celebration of the young master from the city mayor's house."

Fu Jie had done enough acting of puking so he returned to the main drama and played witness to this scene. When he heard this answer from the guard, he couldn't help but laugh.

"This city seems to be a bit too happy. Are you sure they needed our help to fight off a ferocious ghost?" Fu Jie asked in a rather mocking manner.

Ah Bai and Ah Lu were silent since they were also just as shocked as anyone else.

Elder Dayu scoffed, "Celebrating a birthday so grandly at a time like this. No wonder there is someone after you people."

It was considered to be a rude remark but the guards didn't dare say anything against it since they already knew the status of the man who had given such a rude remark.

Who would dare say anything against Elder Dayu? This man could very well crush them under his feet if he wanted to.

Fu Jie suddenly chuckled as he attracted attention by speaking up, "Birthdays should be celebrated grandly! Don't you think so?"

"..." It was clear that there weren't many who agreed with Fu Jie. Even Fu Jie didn't know why he had suddenly said something.

He had the urge to speak up and so he did, but it seemed that he had said something that offended most of the disciples here who had come all this way to fight a ferocious ghost and not to celebrate someone's birthday.

Chen Qiao suddenly chuckled as he wrapped his hand around Fu Jie's neck and looked at the guards as he asked, "I wonder if we are also invited to the grand celebration?"

Cherry: Could it be a false report and the young master is actually a fan of Elder Dayu so he lied to invite them over for his birthday?! *gasp* Conspiracy theory!!

Fu Jie:...

Cherry: Hehehe I'm just kidding.

Fu Jie:...

Fu Jie: You have a weird sense of humor.

Cherry: Well at least weird is better than stupid.

Fu Jie: You have a weird and stupid sense of humor.
