Chapter 12: A sniper, snipes!

On the outskirts of the city, Ryan and Sarah were waiting for their target to appear. It was already the specified time for the 'honorable' person to appear.

While they were waiting, Ryan asked

"Sarah, how does the leveling work? Like, how do I level up from the 2nd realm to third and from Mechanical Foundation to Mechanical Star, etc?"

[Level up is based on the experience you gain while battling people. You don't necessarily need to kill people to get experience points or EXP in short. You can earn from battling and even if you lose, you will earn them.

Every level-up needs a specific amount of EXP. It is specified in the system. Just say 'status' to see your system interface.]

Ryan nodded his head inwardly.

'Status'

{

Name: Ryan

Age: 18

Mech: Sarah

EXP: 1500/10000

Realm: Mechanical Foundation (2nd Realm)

Bloodline: Legendary

Privilege: Level 1

Mana: 10000/10000

}

(A/N: Guys, note that the system has always been there and every Mech owner has this. Also, I will make changes to the Mana and EXP values when I make a Python file for the looping. I will inform you then!)

[What you saw is your status screen. It also has other features like Agility, Attack, Defence, etc. But, your Privilege level is too low to unlock them.]

Ryan was surprised to see the EXP needed to reach the next realm. He figured out that the 150 EXP was from his trial match at the Mech Association.

It was his first time seeing the status screen. So, he had numerous doubts. Most of them were cleared by himself in his mind. But, he can't make any sense of one of them. It was the Mana value.

Just as if Sarah read his mind, she said.

{The Mana value is the total Mana including the Mana capacity of your body and mine. If I were to give the split, your body will have around 2000 Mana and the rest would be mine.

The Mana count will increase as you progress higher and in other ways, you will know when your Privilege increases. Thus, you have to keep close track of your Mana value. You will instinctively learn when it's low as time passed.

Every skill used by me will cost my Mana while if mine is exhausted, your Mana will be used. The same is the case for you. When we fuse, this is impractical as we are the same entity. At that time, there won't be two Mana entities but, a single one.}

Ryan was shaken by the complexity of things. He hardened his heart to spar more and do missions to get more EXP and get a stronger bond with Sarah.

Ryan asked Sarah a few more things to which, Sarah replied as much she can as some of them were outside of his 'Privilege.'

Before they could call it to dip and come back the next day, they saw their target approaching the desired location. The target was clad in a black hood that was barely visible in the darkness of night.

Still, they were able to see him. Ryan and Sarah were on the top floor of an apartment that was in its construction process. As a result, it was completely void of a living being.

Ryan was closely watching his target's movements. He sighed as he thought about going down and engaging in physical combat. It was so meaningless and if there were snipers of 'old Earth', he could just snipe him from there.

"It would have been better if I had a sniper," Ryan mumbled which didn't go unnoticed by Sarah.

She waved her hand and a gun appeared in her hand. It closely resembled the sniper. Just the color was a bit off from the traditional ones.

Ryan thanked Sarah for her thoughtfulness as he took the sniper in his arms. It was fortunately very light, unlike the real snipers.

[This sniper, as you call it, is made of Mana. Therefore, it is very light and has very less recoil. Most of the recoil will be absorbed the Mana absorbers in it. The only problem is that it's pretty costly to produce. It costs around 5000 Mana to produce.] Sarah said.

Ryan's heart ached as he heard that 5k Mana was needed to make this sniper. Still, its usefulness can't be undermined. For assassination, it was one of the best if the range is long between the sniper and the target.

Ryan lay on the floor and readied his sniper to snipe. He kept the sniper to aim the unsuspecting rock. The rock looked nothing out of ordinary but, Sarah found out that it had a formation that will only reveal if the key is inserted.

This made them sure that their target will reach this rock to fetch whatever if there. And their intuition was not wrong, the man went towards the unsuspecting rock.

As the man stood just before the rock, Ryan calmed his racing heart. This was his first time on a mission and also using a sniper. Fortunately, Sarah had trained him to use normal guns so, he wasn't much clueless.

He slowed down his breathing to regulate the movement of his body due to breathing. His eyes became focused as he put his finger on the trigger and aimed at the target's head and, pulled the trigger!

The sniper rifle tore through the air at high speeds. There was a blue hew surrounding the bullet due to the Mana and velocity.

The man was completely oblivious to this small and minute danger coming to put him to sleep and prepare him to meet Lady Death. He took a card from his pockets and as he was about to keep it on the rock, the bullet tore through his head and...he died!

No, some shit last words, no threatening, nothing. He died painlessly as the brain couldn't register the pain before it went offline.

This way, Ryan's mission was successful as he assassinated his target quite effortlessly with the help of his sniper!
