Sparring

I'm pretty sure that there was someone else but I can't remember who.

I felt a dark presence from behind me. I turned around and yelled "Who's there!?"

A black smoke burst out of nowhere and a tall man with long black hair came into view.

"Did you just fart?" I asked

He looked bewildered and confused.

"What? I teleported here" he explained

"And how would you explain the back smoke?" I asked

"That…"

"I rest my case" I said proudly

"Hero, this is Ezekiel. He is this kingdom's most powerful magician" Hugo said ignoring our conversation.

This the last person in the book. He is also the hero's love rival. Ezekiel would alway try to impress the princess and is obsessed with the hero. At one point, I thought that Ezekiel was actually in love with the hero because of how obsessive he was.

"We will start our training tomorrow. You can just watch us from the benches" Sebastian told me

I sat at the benches and thought about the book.

The book, My Story, was about a hero who could defeat any monster that came his way. One day the princess was captured and taken by the villain. The hero, his best friend, the scholar, and the magician all go after the villain. In the end the hero saves the princess and lives happily ever after.

And the villain? Well, he was killed. The magician was so angry that he took the princess and attacked the villain with all his might.

I was so angry when I found out that he died. It's not like he was hurting the princess.

The villain kidnapped the princess but kept her in a room with all her necessities. He even let her walk outside when she was bored.

The story never revealed why the villain kidnapped the princess or his background.

I only bought the book because I thought it was cool that the princess was also a knight, though she never really did anything. So it was a waste of money.

This whole story had an awful plot. Hence why I died criticizing it.

"Hey Hero, we're just about to finish. Want to try and spar with me?" Sebastian asked

I was still thinking about the book and didn't pay attention to what Sebastian said so I said "Uh huh. Sure…" without any thought.

"That's the spirit!" He said joyfully "I'll go get you a sword"

*A sword? For what?* I thought to myself

He came back and threw it at me. I freaked out and caught it on instinct.

"Oh man! Sorry, I forgot you had amnesia" he apologized "But it's okay. You didn't get hurt"

I stared at him and muttered "Yeah. Okay"

*But what if I had gotten hurt? What then?*

He motioned me to walk up to the sparring ring.

I ignored that thought and walked into the ring.

He suddenly yelled and ran towards me with his sword ready to slice me in two.

"Ahhh!!!" I yelled and ran towards the edge of the ring but there was an invisible barrier preventing me from leaving.

"Let me out! Let me out! This crazy guy is trying to kill me!" I yelled towards the others

"No can do. We need your memories back and this is the only way we could think of." Charlotte explained

*What!? But that's never going to work! I'm not actually Hero!* But I couldn't tell them that. I didn't know what they'd do if they found out.

I looked behind me and saw a large sword swinging down on me. I blocked the opposing sword with my own. As they clashed, I felt a sense of Déjà vu.

*This feels familiar. But I have never even held a real sword in my past life before. So how…?"

Sebastian kept swinging at me and I kept blocking. I suddenly felt empty. Like I had no emotion.

*Is this how Hero felt when he fought?* I wondered

"This is going nowhere! He won't get his memories back anytime soon." Ezekiel exclaimed

I sighed in relief

"Let's just kill him. He's useless now" he continued

*Huh?*

Hugo sighed and agreed.

*Say what!?*

The barrier finally went down and I ran towards the door.

"We're not actually going to kill you!" Hugo yelled

I slowed and looked back just in time to hear him mutter "Yet…"

*oh hell nah!*

I ran out towards the exit before I realized that I have no idea where I am. I sat down at a bench in a garden.

*I need to leave. But how?* I wondered as I closed my eyes to rest

I felt something blocking the sun above me. I looked up and saw a man.

His long blond hair looked like a halo. Black eyed stared into my blue ones. He looks like an angel.

"Are you okay?" He asked

"I am now"

… what did I just say?!

"Pfft" he laughed "Well that's good, I guess"

I blushed red "mhmm"

He started to walk away before he stopped.

"Umm, I'm kind of lost. Do you know where to find the princess?" He asked

"Ehh, kinda" I replied "She should still be in the sparring room. Do you know where that is?"

"Ah! I do. Thank you" he smiled at me and left

*Thank god he knows where that is, cause I don't* I thought to myself as I watched him walk away.

I got up and started to wander around.

I suddenly hear loud screams from a far away room. I ran towards them on instinct.

*Damn you Hero! I don't want to be caught up in this mess!*

I get to the room and see the same guy from the garden holding Charlotte close to him. The guards have surrounded him.

"Hero! Don't get close to him. He has a spell that will kill us all if we get to close" Sebastian warned me

"It's a good thing I wasn't planning to" I muttered

The blond guy looked over at me. His eyes widened.

I froze. His eyes. They were filled with guilt and sadness.

"Take me..." I whispered

"What?" He asked

Everyone looked at me.

I closed my eyes and yelled "Take me instead!"

I opened my eyes and saw the villain stare at me in shock.

"Don't listen to him. He's crazy. He has amnesia" Sebastian yelled at the villain

He looked back towards me, "The princess can protect herself. You can't"

I ignored him and stepped towards the villain. He slowly let go of the princess.

Ezekiel saw a chance to grab the princess and took her back to safety.

The villain raised his hand and placed it on my shoulder.

"No!" Sebastian yelled and ran towards us. But he was too late. The villain had already teleported us away.
