Chapter 12: Safe In The Stranger's Arms
Belinda's P.O.V
I felt safe after he embraced me. For a moment all the pain vanished.
Nora dropped her water bottle in shock!
"Is that why you didn't want to talk about it the other day?" He asked.
"I just got the shock of my life yesterday, my parents died along time ago!" I cried. I was only a baby then.
"It's okay everything will be fine, calm down. I'm here for you." He said in a soothing voice. Rubbing my back with his hands.
"Yes Belinda, we are all here for you." Nora added. She joined Mr. Heights to hug me as well.
"Thank you." I said.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier." I apologized.
"We totally understand the situation you're in, anyone in your shoes would do the same." Mr. Heights said.
"We need to get back to work, are you in position to come along?" Nora asked.
"No , no need to worry. I'm good to go!" I replied.
"I understand you're not in good shape however your top boss is going to be here in half an hour. He wants to assess you. Can you handle? Or must we postpone it?" Mr. Heights asked.
"I'll do it, it's not like I'm on a death bed! Come-on! Thanks though for worrying about me!" I answered.
"Okay then!" He chuckled. That's the more reason as to why I love you!
"Love?!" I asked.
Yes, Love! I love the way you handle yourself in regards to work. I think it's great.
"Thank you!" I said.
"Dad! You're welcome!" Mr. Heights said to his dad. It's beautiful seeing him like this, so happy and cheerful.
"Thanks son, looks like someone missed me. How is the going?" His dad asked with a smile.
"Everything is good. Meet Ms. Belinda Parkers, the new chef." Said Breyson.
"Oh ! Nice to meet you, my son has told me alot about you!" Said his dad as he offered a hand shake.
"It's a pleasure sir." I answered while giving Breyson a death glare.
"Come on dad! Was that necessary?!" Breyson complained.
"Ooh cut it! It was nothing, don't take it seriously." His dad said but in a teasing manner.
"Ms. Parkers." His dad called.
"Belinda is fine with me." I replied.
"If you insist. Can I see you in my office?" He demanded.
"Right a way sir!" I replied.
I looked at Breyson and Nora for the last time, they also smiled at me.
"Have a seat." Breyson's dad offered soon as I got to his office.
"Thank you." I sat down.
"How have you found LA SCOOPERS'?" He asked.
"It's amazing. It's irresistable." I answered. "Actually it was my first choice soon as I graduated." I added.
"You don't say! Tell me about me. Why? There are quite a number of establishments out there that are much better than this." He said.
"Precisely the point, I wanted to add more to it so that it matches their standards or even go beyond them and become the leading establishment in this city because I strongly believe that it will definitely get there." I answered.
"Impressive! I must say your intelligence has no boundaries." He complimented.
"I'm fluttered sir." I replied.
"No, it's the fact. I heard that your home of residence is quite far from here. I'm therefore going to see to it that you get a car. Do you know how to drive?" He asked.
"So Breyson didn't waste anytime?!" I thought to myself. "Yes sir, I do. There's no need though." I answered.
"Alot is needed plus, if I don't do it my son won't stop until he gets what he wants. I had about your contribution towards the getting of that contract. Normally we give bonuses to our employees just to appreciate their efforts and loyalty. It's not free, you worked for it and proved yourself worthy. Just look at it like that. See, it doesn't matter whether it comes in sooner or later." He said.
"Alright sir I'll take it." I agreed.
Great! Process your permit, give all the details of your car's choice to my son. He will handle everything, in two days your car will be here.
"Alright sir, thank you." I said while standing up from my seat.
"Also before I forget, you'll be getting $1000 per month on your pay cheque." He posed.
"Is it just me or my colleagues are getting the same?!" I asked in shock. That was alot of money!
"Of course yes, our chefs are doing a really great job, the salary increased this year. You're just lucky and blessed." He answered.
"All the necessary documents will be processed and given to you. Keep up the good, I would love to witness your vision towards our company come true." He added.
"Thank you sir, I'll do my best." I replied.
"Yesss!" I shouted soon as I got out of his office.
"Yes, come in please!" Said Mr. Heights junior.
"You must be bearing good news. it's all over your face." He continued.
"Of course, I'll get the car which you persuaded your dad to buy for me. The man wouldn't take no for an answer!" I replied.
"Runs in the family." He said.
I see, anyway, I'll be texting you the type of car I want because that's what he tasked me to do and also get myself a license.
"Well, that's okay with me. If you want we can go buy it together over the weekend when we are free." He suggested.
"Okay , no problem!" I agreed and moved out of his office.
"Guess what Nora?!" I asked.
"What?! Just say it!" She said.
"I'm going to get a car soon!" I whispered.
"Are you serious?! Look, aside from the fact that your home is far, I think the boss is attracted to you." She whispered.
"Nora !! That's not funny at all, the boss is old enough to be my father!" I yelled.
"Come-on, Belinda I'm not talking about Breyson's father! It's Breyson Heights, the junior!" She replied.
"That's not true, maybe it's true. Let's not jump to conclusions. Please." I begged.
"We will talk later, I've got to receive this call. I'll be at my station." I told Nora soon as I heard my phone vibrate.
"Belinda, Belinda, come back here!" Nora shouted but I simply ignored her instead.
"Hey Kelly!" I answered the phone. About the job I told you about over the weekend, I was also offered a car since I stay a bit far from the work place!
"You're joking?!" She shouted.
