Chapter 14: First day at work.

In downtown, Belle woke up very early as the saying,the early bird eats the worm to avoid being discovered by her mom who kept rummaging through her things the previous night. She sneaked through the back door making it to the nearby stationery that wasn't far from downtown. Photocopying the documents,she sent the soft copies to Ritah and decided to make a detour to her boyfriend's place to relax and sleep in more since her mission was completed.

"Phew!, Scarlet owes me this one." Belle said laying on the bed of her boyfriend. She has gone through a lot to keep all this from their suspicious mom .

But the best part of all this is that her sister is gonna start working and probably change their lives that sucks.

Upon receiving the message from Belle, Ritah rushed to scarlet's bedroom to show her the message and read it herself. She found the bedroom door already opened and was surprised to see things scattered at the ground looking messy with scarlet pacing back and forth like a confused fellow. Taking a seat on the bed, Ritah said " could you please have a seat,you're almost making me dizzy with your pacing and I have got some news to deliver."

" Go ahead and please tell me exactly what it's all about because I hate suspenses the most." Scarlet replied taking a seat besides Ritah with curious eyes making her bestie laugh.

" Actually it's a massage from Belle and-----" Ritah was halfway through saying what she wanted to say but scarlet didn't allow her to do so and got the phone to read the message but what she saw made her scream at the top of her lungs with excitement etched in her voice.

"OMG!, am glad she has been able to fullfil her promise and now the only thing left is to select clothes that am supposed to wear because it's gonna be my first day at work." Scarlet said with excitement while rummaging through the wardrobe. Ritah right away came to give her a hand so that they don't get late.

Kevin had just landed in London with his secretary and the head of the branch immediately came to pick him. The body guards lined up on two sides leaving way for Mr Kevin to pass through. He was wearing a black suit that perfectly fitted his well built body,he completed his looks with sunglasses polishing his already dope looks.

Greeting the CEO and nodding his head in approval,Mr Evalist the head of the branch opened the car door. After sitting comfortably in the Volkswagen,the driver immediately ignited the engine and zoomed off followed by the body guards who took the Mercedes Benz following at a close distance.

What had happened was beyond Mr Evalist's control and had to seek Mr Kevin to step in and resolve the situation with his connections. In less than two hours they reached Wavvah street where the Voice business building was located. It was built inform of a dome standing in it's glory like in the ancient times. The moment the call halted in front of the building,the employees knew right away that it was the big boss who had arrived since Mr Evalist had warned them in advance to avoid making unnecessary mistakes.

They lined well organized to welcome their CEO who rarely appears like a phoenix's feather. Getting out of the car,he strode towards the lobby with his stern face. He keenly observed every single employee with his cold emerald green eyes that sent shivers down their spines. Giving them one glance,he was led by Mr Evalist into the executive elevator to the top floor. Once arriving,he immediately ordered Mr Evalist to organize an emergency meeting in his chill voice making Mr Evalist to sweat buckets. Hurrying, he notified the necessary departments and the board members to right away go to the board room. He wiped the sweat which had formed on his forehead and grabbed his laptop to join the others.

He didn't know who had the guts to replace the original materials with the counterfeit ones but those people probably wanted to seek their own deaths and make their children orphans and wives widows. Most people learn from other's mistakes but these people wanted to learn after seeing for themselves. The whispers and murmurs has stopped once Mr Kevin stepped foot in the boardroom with his secretary in tow. Some employees got scared out of their wits and avoided his cold gaze like a plague.

Sitting at the top seat he said in a chilling voice, " I never thought that most of you here need to be told on what to do?,so you need someone to keep tabs on every one of to do what you're supposed to do ,if that was the case ,why didn't you remain at home instead of looking for a job if you needed supervision on what you're supposed to do." His cold gaze observed everyone's facial expressions and most of them felt guilty because they had neglected their responsibilities as workers of this firm.

One of his body guards brought in a middle aged man with a bald head with a red face like he had been beaten black and blue.

Leaning in his swivel chair,he ordered his secretary to distribute the documents in the file to everyone. Tapping his fingers on the table,the air in the room frozen to certain degrees. Having read the documents,some employees felt like doomsday wasn't far from them. Their crimes were well detailed and those they had collaborated with in their dirty games . They knelt down hoping the boss to sympathize with them but he slammed the table with his fist saying, " I didn't expect you greedy bastards to collide with my enemies to replace the original materials with the counterfeit ones in exchange for money but too bad one mistake is costing you more than you can imagine, just wait for the police to take everyone who's involved in the theft of my company materials."

The employees who had warned those involved mocked them while the police took away all those involved without showing mercy to them. After the chaos,he ordered the department heads to make reports for the half quarter of the year. He vacated the boardroom with his secretary and Mr Evalist because he wanted to finish everything and return to the Freedom city.

Scarlet selected what to wear and proceeded to have breakfast with Ritah with a smile etched on her face the whole time.

After having breakfast, scarlet rode with Ritah to the city center and was dropped where Tarvan restaurant was located. Saying goodbyes to each other, scarlet got out of the car with her head held high because she believed in herself that she could face whatever challenge that was on her way. She walked towards the reception and met Jenny who called the Human resource manager to deal with the documents which scarlet had brought along with her . The employees of Tarvan restaurant had already arrived doing their duties as usual but some of them also used the opportunity to whisper gossip wondering if the new employee would manage and get to used the work which Anna did.

The restaurant was well decorated with special decorations since the entire month they were booked by some of the city's tycoons who spent lavishly and didn't have what to do with their money but just spending it. Scarlet was accepted right away and shown her work station. She felt deeply happy because she had yearned for this opportunity in recent years but was unable to get one. Having changed into a uniform,she started taking orders of the loaded guys who had come with their girlfriends to spend anyhow.

Jenny the receptionist didn't behave like her usual self and her mind kept reminiscing what had happened at her house. She decided to gather herself and do what she's supposed to do to improve and chase her dreams. The whole afternoon was swamped with customers coming from every single corner and the waitresses did their best to provide the best of their services so that customers leave satisfied with their services. Scarlet took several orders from different customers and it first thought she was losing it because the orders were complicated with dishes she had never seen in her entire life but thanks to her quick wits when she read the food magazine which greatly helped her in broadening her view of the meals ordered in specific restaurants.

After working nonstop,she went to the rooftop to relax and breath in fresh air. Various flowers and plants trimmed to perfection swayed gently in the breeze against the backdrop of the setting sun, sending a pleasant fragrance. The small chairs where placed in the center with tables were guests and customers would use whenever they drank wine or evening tea while observing the city.
