Chapter-7 Laura discovers New Powers

I could only scream, "Helpp.." when a wolf pounced at me. I started struggling to throw that wolf off me. I was very afraid and was screaming. Suddenly, I got a strange feeling in my body and I felt as if I will burst. I saw that the wolves were retreating but I was not sure. Then, all of a sudden a wolf started coming near to me.

I screamed, " Don't come here. You will be in danger. I will kill you. I will kill you all, if you will hurt me. Go. Go right now." I mustered all of my courage and said that. The wolf did not listen and I was scared to death. I felt like crying. I felt like I will die now. All of a sudden, the moment I said " Go away " again, laser beams started coming from my eyes. The wolves retreated.

I gave a sign of relief then wondered that how did laser come from my eyes. Is this a new power of mine? Why did this power surface only now? I was wondering all this and all of a sudden, I felt exhaustion in my body. I could not understand why am I feeling so exhausted and then I fainted.

When I woke up, I found myself surrounded by wolves in a cave. I screamed, " Don't come near me. You all saw the laser, right. It can kill you. Go away". The wolves looked at me and then one of them said, " We were neither trying to harm you then nor we will harm you now. We were just trying to smell you because you smelt familiar. "

I said surprisingly, " How can I understand what you are saying? What are you? "

The wolf replied, " We are werewolves. Every human can understand us when we are in our human power but not when we are in wolf form. You are able to understand us because you must have powers to understand and converse with the animals. If you are uncomfortable with our wolf form, one of us can change into human and talk to you. What do you want? "

I replied, " Sure. Change into human. I am scared seeing wolves surrounding me and talking to me."

One of the wolf came in front and said, " I will. That way I will also be able to practice changing my form" .The others agreed. I also had no objections. That wolf then went behind a huge rock and came in front of me as a guy that too fully clothed. I wondered how come he is wearing clothes when he should be naked. Then, I reminded myself not to think nonsence.

On seeing my expression, the guy said, pointing at the rock, " Don't think too much. We always have our clothes behind that rock. I wore my clothes before coming in front of you. " I was flustered by this and said, " I...uh...I was not thinking like that. " Huh! I lied right at his face and He seemed to know it.

He smiled and said, giving his hand for a handshake, " I got it. By the way, Hi, I am Max. As you already know I am a werewolf. I am 18 years old and we don't hurt humans for no reason. Now what is your name and what species are you? I have never seen any creature with the power of laser and talking to animals together."

I replied shaking his hand, "I am Laura. I am also 18 years old. I don't know what creature I am and this was my first time too of discovering these powers. I can also read minds, fly, have wings and also hear things from a long distance."

A wolf said, " Wow! Then how come you don't know what you are? We have never heard about any creature with so much powers. You must have just turned 18 in two to three days. That is why you are discovering new powers."

"Yes, my birthday was two days before.", I replied " I was found in the woods by my adopted mother. I must have been abandoned by my biological parents. That is why I don't know what I am though I am trying to find out my species myself."

A huge black wolf came forward and said, " Oh dear, you have discovered new powers and have no one to guide you on how to control your powers. That is upsetting even though you are quite powerful and have unique powers . "

I replied, " I learned how to control my powers with my adoptive parents. My mom supported me a lot. Now if you don't mind, can you please help me get out of here to the town. All my friends will be worried sick."

The wolf replied, " Sure. But I want to test your powers. We can help you with them. Only if you want. I think that if you are able to read mind, you can also talk others in mind. Do you want to test your powers? "

I thought about Oliver and how I am not able to read his mind. I replied, " Sure but it will not take much time, right? "He laughed and said, " No my child, It will take only half an hour. Max, follow me and help me"

The huge wolf changed into human. He was a very old man. He said something to Max and Max went to search something. I asked, " You are not planning to kill me, right? "

The old man laughed and said, " Oh no my child, we will not harm you. You are of my granddaughter's age. I am trying to test you." I said, "OK"

Max brought a rabbit and the old man said to me, " First, try to talk to him." I asked the rabbit, " Hi, how are you." The rabbit replied, " Hi. I am fine. You can talk to me." I said, " Yes".

Then he asked me to talk to the rabbit in its mind. I scoffed but nevertheless tried, the rabbit was thinking, " Please don't hurt me. I am scared. Someone please help me." I tried to console it in mind and said, " Don't worry. We won't hurt you. "

"Are you sure?", the rabbit asked me.

I replied, " Yes". I was so surprised that I had this power I didn't know.

I told them that they were right. I can talk in minds. Then I said, " Don't tell me that you will ask me to practice laser on the poor rabbit."

They laughed and both of them said " No".

I relaxed.

The old man said, " Now show me your laser on this tree", pointing to a tree. I tried but failed miserably. The laser just came of 2 millimetre. I thought everyone will laugh but they were surprised.

The old man said, " Good job. It was your first time and you did great." I asked them, " How did laser come from my eyes when I was surrounded by you all? "

He explained, " It was because you were scared but not now. I suggest you take Max with you. He is of your age. He can train you and help with your powers. This fool will himself learn new things too."

I smiled and said, " Ok, thank you, sir"

He replied, " Don't call me sir. You are like my granddaughter so call me grandpa."

I smiled and said, " Thank you, grandpa."

I, then asked Max to take me back to the town. Max guided me back and we talked on the way. He told me that the old man was the alpha of their pack and Max is his grandson. His sister is married to a wolf of another pack. He also told me that we will train together for two hours daily and that he will visit Grandpa once a week and on full moons. I agreed.

Soon we reached back and as expected, all of my friends we're looking for me, Eliza was even about to break down crying. I announced loudly, " Friends, I am back safe and sound".

Everyone came running towards me and hugged me. Eliza was not ready to let me go and started scolding me like an elder sister, ' Where did you? We were so worried about you. Don't you dare leave us and go without telling us.' Max just watched us surprised. Eliza then looked at Max and asked, " Who is this? " I introduced them to Max and said, " Guys, this is Max. He helped me when I was lost in there. He is my life savior."

Max just said, " Hi".

Then my eyes fell on Oliver. I was thinking about confronting him but suddenly Max, on seeing Oliver said, " You? What are you doing here? " and then he grabbed Oliver's collar.

We all just stood there surprised.
