The past

No one know what he was thinking as he sat and closed his eyes.

"What are you doing? Are you meditating?" He opened his eye which had gone all black, but which immediately turned to normal. Nat seemed to have not to noticed, as he sat close to him.

"What are you?"

"Me? No one in this school know not who I am. Except you chose to play ignorant. And calm down, I'm not into your girl." He said.

"She is not my.." He said glaring at him.

"Wow! I managed to get a reaction from you. Calm down dude. I'm not talking about that ugly dumpling, I mean Lilia. The latest prettiest girl in school." He smirked.

"She's not ugly, she's just dirty." He said and was surprised himself why he's saying too much to this guy.

"Wow!" He exclaimed. "You are really defending her. Are you guys truly dating?"

"Of course, no. Fucking go to your seat and stop disturbing me." He said loudly more than ever and the class looked back at him.

Nat only smiled and walked to his seat.

"It is getting more interesting." He said.

"What an eyesore." He brought his drawing book and began drawing.

"What were you guys discussing?" Lilia asked him, but got no response. "I'm asking you a question here." She said.

Zayn stared at her for few seconds, and she sat down on her seat, as the stare was too cold, and the aura she felt was too bad.

A woman walked in and smiled at them all.

"You guys have exam next week. You should prepare." She said and left the class.

"Examination?"

"Yes. We must fight with our ability. Like you shadow, must fight with another creature. If you win, you pass." Lyra said filing her nails.

"Then...What about you? Can you even fight?" She asked with mockery laced in her voice.

"Awn. You are worry about me. Don't do. I can take care of myself. You should also worry about yourself." Lyra said smiling brightly at her.

Its time to go home. Sarah walked towards Zayn who was about to stand up from his seat.

Lilia looked at her, glaring at her back and walking out of the class.

"What?" He said.

"I want to learn Martial arts. If I learn just few hands from you, I definitely won't disturb you again."

Is she stupid? Can't she see she is not disturbing him?

"Okay." He only said and walked out of the class.

"What is really happening between them?" Nat smirked.

Zayn walked with Sarah into the woods.

"I never thought I'll be coming here today?" She said.

They dropped their bags and Zayn off his shirt.

"You have to tie the helm of your clothe, so it can be easy for you." He said.

Sarah nodded and did as he said.

"The basic thing in martial arts is this.." He taught her the basic steps and surprisingly she adapted quickly.

After like four hours of training, they were very tired and could only rest on the wood.

"Thanks for today." She said smiling brightly.

"You are welcome. If you train for ten days more, you should be good." He said. "Its time for you to leave right?" He asked carrying his backpack.

"Yes. But i need a favor." She said looking at him with her puppy eye.

"You aren't sleeping over anymore." He declined without hearing her request.

"Not that. Escort me home. You definitely dont want to see me declared dead tomorrow, because I've been eaten by a demon?" She shrugged.

"Of course, I won't be fazed. Not like you are my family or What?" He argued.

"Aren't we friends? What are friends for, if you can't help them in a day of chaos?"

"And i don't think any has befallen you now." He said.

After some minutes of arguing, he finally escorted her. They reached a big gate with the VAMPIRE inscribed on it.

"Okay. Get inside. And bye for life." He clenched his teeth.

"Of course. I don't want to see you ever again." She said and ran inside.

Zayn eyes didn't leave the gate for minutes before turning to leave.

Loneliness rushed on him again as he walked home.

He got home and sat on his sofa. He couldn't help but reminisced on the past.

"Big brother, my hair is getting longer." Phoenix said touching her strontium red hair as it touched her waist.

"You are only five and your hair has reached here. When you clock ten, your hair will be loner than that." He said.

"Look at that Hawk. She want to steal the small hen." She said and didn't wait for small Zayn's reply and turned to a small phoenix bird and flew after the Hawk that took the small chicks.

"That stupid girl." He said and could only watch her fly. "Dara." He called and a black crow appeared beside him. "Follow her." He said and the black crow flew away.

After thirty minutes, she flew down with the chick. "She is so pretty."She turned back to human and pat the chick's head.

"What if something happen to you?"

"Nothing will happen. You will come and save me." She said and walked to the chick's mother and dropped the bird beside her.

"Stop doing something that will hurt you." He said.

"I know. You said its good to help. I'm just helping."

"Don't you ever be hurt." He said to the little phoenix and carried her.

He opened his eyes and noticed everywhere was silent. No phoenix and no She-dumb.

He walked to the fridge and brought out a bottle of water. He uncapped the bottle and gulped the water.

He walked to his veranda and looked at the sky.

Everywhere is just as dark as him.

He was thinking about how he is going to train Sarah tomorrow and smiled to himself, when he heard two demons talking.

"What is smelling from that house?"

"Of course, some weaklings. They will be very delicious."

"I have an ominous feeling about this."

"I'll go alone then. I won't share with you." He said and walked into the house.

Zayn only flicked his fingers when the demon shouted and fell down lifeless.

The demon that was outside heard the scream and ran away.
