Chapter 5 (edited)

It didn't take too long for Leonis to calm himself down, his heart rate steadily regaining its previous rhythm.

When Remus had seen Leonis was alright, he left the room to get the doctor seeing as he was now awake after some hours of sleep.

Remus found it strange seeing someone who resembled Sirius—in fact, everything was strange for him in general.

It was strange to see James having a child, but Sirius? It was even stranger seeing as he never mentions having a child in the first place, it just shows and proves how Sirius hadn't seen any of them as friends.

He was in a reck after what Sirius had done to both Lily and James, it was because of him Harry was now an orphanage and now here he was making sure his child was okay, which he knew was the right thing to do, he wasn't going to hold a grudge against a child.

It wasn't the child's fault for what Padfoot had done. He just knew if word got out of Sirius Black having a child of his own, Leonis wouldn't have much of a childhood with the whispers and glares that will be sent his way.

As the man left, Leonis glanced around the room he was in, it was obvious to him that he was in a hospital and judging from the window in the room, it was night-time, meaning he had been asleep longer than expected, he hadn't even released when he went to sleep.

He pulled the bed sheet off of his person to see he was no longer wearing his nightclothes but the hospital dressing gown which he didn't bother baring any mind to.

He jumped off the bed allowing his bare feet to feel the coldness of the tiles below as the dressing gown he had on swayed slightly.

The room was bare, with nothing on the walls, there were just a few armchairs and the bed he had slept in and the window of course, which had curtains on both sides on it waiting to be closed to prevent light from shining through.

He walked around the room not wanting to be in the bed any longer, he felt much more refreshed than before now that he had slept but slightly unsettled after the dream he had just woken up from.

It felt as though he was suffocating- he hated it.

He used to feel as if he was suffocating many times in his past life- he hated the feeling, it felt as though someone had their hands wrapped around his neck ready to tighten the hold blocking any oxygen from entering.

His hand crept to his throat in grimace at the thought.

He hated the heavy feeling in his chest- once he had moved away from the people he forgave and caused it, he never thought he would feel as such again.

"Mr Black" a voice called out from behind him, he turned his head towards the voice to see a man, it was obvious he was the doctor Mooney had said he would get, seeing as the very man was standing behind the doctor.

His hand dropped down to his side.

Not only was Mooney standing behind the doctor but another man, one dressed in a long brown trench coat and straight away Leonis identified him to be an Auror, he had seen Sirius wearing the same thing once.

"I see you're up and about." The doctor continued, "Why don't you take a seat back in the bed for me" the man said with a small smile as he made his way further into the room.

Mooney closed the door behind him and sent a small smile Leonis's way, while the 'Auror' stood in the corner of the room.

With that Leonis didn't see a point in objecting to the doctor and just did as he was told.

With Mooney's help, he was seated in the bed once again. The doctor was stood at the side of his bed with a clipboard floating in the air at his side with a pen floating above it, which Leonis paid more attention to than the doctor himself.

The doctor slightly chuckled as he noticed it.

"I'm your doctor, doctor Heaney, and this behind me is Auror Finnegan who would like to ask you some questions in a bit, nothing too difficult." He said pointing in the direction of the Auror, who then nodded silently.

"You slept for a long while. We were able to figure out why that being you hadn't slept for a long time considering your age." The doctor Heaney continued.

As the man talked Leonis just listened wanting everything to be over already.

"There isn't much to say at the moment, I don't want to overload you with much information your are only just 2 years of age, isn't that, right?"

Leonis turned his gaze towards the doctor, "How do you know my name and age?" he asked with narrowed eyes.

The doctor chuckled, "Magic of course, and a little sample of blood." He responded.

"… Where's my mum?" he questioned, pronouncing each word slowly scared of the possible response he could get.

The doctor stayed silent, his lips placed in a line, with a thoughtful look on his face unsure of what to tell the child, the doctor then looked towards the possible Auror and directed the attention to him.

"Ahh, well I'm sure Auror Finnegan would know something regarding your mother." The doctor responded.

"… We're not sure as of yet, but don't worry, if there's any news on your mother's location you'll find out" the man answered as the attention was directed to him.

He felt his heart sink at the response, trying to control his breathing.

Leonis diverted his gaze away from the doctor before looking towards him again, "What about dad?" he asked with a hopeful look, if anything Sirius should be able to find her, he had to.

Just as he spoke the very words he asked, the temperature in the room seemed to drop as both the adults tensed at the question.

"Sirius?" Remus sounded out in a mutter, while the doctor stood in silence.

Leonis looked to both of the adults in the room staring at both their expressions, why did they look like that? Did something happen to Sirius?

The doctor opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the door opening.

There in the standing in the door frame of the now opened door was a man, seemingly old, maybe in his 50s Leonis assumed.

He was stood a tall man and sophisticated with long blonde hair that seemed to be tied back- hair so similar to his mother's hair, which had him staring intently at the man with great curiosity, could the man be a relative?

As he had a glance at the man's eyes, he saw the grey eyes he was told he had similar to, this was likely his mother's father, his maternal grandfather unless he had his facts wrong, but even so, he was most likely a relative.

The man seemed to have a deadly glare on his face, not directed at him but at the Auror that was in the room.

Just as his 'grandfather' was glaring at the Auror, he looked towards Mooney with slight disgust. Leonis noticed how Remus had slightly flinched at the glare and was now uncomfortable.

More so… why was he glaring?

"It seems, they are a few unwanted guests making themselves comfortable" the older man spoke with a drawl, he glanced around the room yet to look at Leonis.

"Lord Malfoy" the Auror greeted the older man with a dip of his head.

"Sir…" Remus forced out a frown settling on his face.

"I find it to be quite concerning an Auror would want to question a child- a two-year-old nonetheless without a guardian present, I would see it fit if you were to show yourself out of the room." The older man snapped.

"I am just-"

"I don't care what you were 'just' doing, I would much rather you leave, seeing as this child is now in my care." He hissed.

With that said the man clenched his jaw and stormed towards the door as his trench coat swayed to the rhythm of his movement.

Before he could get any further 'Lord Malfoy' as he identified him as stood in front of him, blocking his way.

"Name?" he asked with a hint of a demanding tone seeping out.

Leonis could hear the man exhale loudly, knowing it was in annoyance, "Will Finnegan… sir." he then walked around his apparent grandfather and headed out the door he had wanted to go through before being stopped.

With him gone, the older man's gaze turned towards Remus.

"I was just making sure he was okay, he's my best friends' child" Remus spoke knowing what the man's gaze was implying.

The older man's lips thinned into a straight line not interested in a word that was coming out of Remus's mouth.

"Oh? I didn't think someone so 'light' as you, would consider Sirius Black a 'best friend', but then again your presence isn't welcomed."

The doctor was stood ever so silently not wanting to get on Lord Malfoy's bad side, but he already knew he had already been put on the list for allowing both the men to enter.

It didn't take too long for Lord Malfoy to have the room evacuated leaving just two people left, Leonis and his newly met grandfather.

Leonis sat there waiting for the man to say anything- anything at all, as silence, filled the air.

Finally, the man spoke, "You have her eyes" he said out, his tone sounding fascinated by what he was seeing.

"She shouldn't have left." He murmured under his breath.

"Eyes? Do you mean my mum?" Leonis questioned the man that had yet to introduce himself to him.

"Yes, Adrasteia." He responded. Without a second to spare he took his wand out of his sleeve and with a single wave the chair that had been sitting in the corner of the room was now at his side as he moved swiftly towards him.

Then he took a seat.

"… I don't have her eyes," Leonis responded back to the man with narrowed eyes wondering if the man had bad memory that he wasn't able to remember what his own daughter looked like.

The man raised his brow in amusement as he stared at his first grandchild, "Oh? Why do you not think so?" He responded bemused.

"Because mum has green eyes and I have grey like her dad's" Leonis responded slowly to allow the man to follow his reasoning properly, hoping it would help him remember what his own daughter looked like.

The ma let out a chuckle at the response, "Well I didn't mean the colour of her eyes." He responded plainly, allowing silence to take over again.

"… Then what did you mean?" Leonis questioned, trying to get his head around it.

"The shape of her eyes." Lord Malfoy responded curiously to what the child would make of it.

"Ah…" Leonis responded lamely, slightly uncomfortable with the lack of conversation from the man sitting in front of him.

"As I am sat here now, do you know who I am?" the older man spoke again with keen interest.

"My grandfather?"

A small smirk appeared on Lord Malfoy's face, "How are you so sure of it."

"Because you're my mum's dad- your old and we both have similar grey eyes like mum said and well mum's a Malfoy and the other person called you 'Lord Malfoy… so you're undeniably my grandfather unless you're my great uncle or something."

The man seemed to choke on nothing but air upon being called 'old'.

"You seem to talk well for someone our age" the man commented, seeming interested and impressed.

Leonis swore he heard the man mutter about superior Malfoy genes but maybe he just imagined it.

Ignoring the comment, he spoke again.

"Why did he call you Lord Malfoy? Why the Lord?" Leonis asked with a raised brow.

"Should I not be called Lord Malfoy?" Abraxas asked with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Leonis huffed lightly as his question was replied with a question. Deciding to change the subject to something more important he asked the question he had yet to be answered.

"Where's my dad?" he asked.

Just as the three men had done before, his grandfather stayed silent at the question, unsure of how to put it to words for a two-year-old to understand, but from talking to him for as long as he has, he could see that it was likely the child would understand.

"To put it plain and simple, your father broke the law and killed many people. Therefore he now has to pay with time for it." Abraxas answered nonchalantly.

Leonis's hands found their grip tightening on the bed covering he was seated on at the answer.

'Paying with time?'

"He broke the law? He killed people? Are you sure we're talking about the same person?" Leonis asked in confusion.

Was he talking about the man who'd demand a burping contest from a one-year-old, the man who would rather run laps around the house than have to help Adrasteia fold clothing even though it just took a wave of his wand to have it completed?

The man who would go on and on about friendship and family? He must have gotten confused when I asked about my dad.

Abraxas raised a brow at the unexpected response.

"Your father, Sirius is serving time in Azkaban," Abraxas spoke again.

Leonis slightly trembled at the prospect.

"You're lying!" he yelled unintentionally. He could feel the tears dropping to his hands. His body simply overloading with emotion. His mind was confused and clouded while his body wanted to cry for his father and mother, which he didn't want but his body went against his wishes.

He had to be lying, Sirius? In Azkaban? He knew exactly what Azkaban was from his fathers' rambles, it was basically jail but worse from what he remembered.

Sirius wouldn't kill- he wouldn't! he was an undeniable idiot from what he had come to grow used to. Was there really another side of him he had yet to see, yet to know?

Yes, he had only known the man for 2 years but was that Sirius truly… just for show?

How convenient he had done such a thing when his mother was taken.
