That's My Power Source?

*******

Aiden's spirit space.....

"That is my power source?!"

Aiden's eyes widened in disbelief. He had thought all the kinds of things and ways his power source could be but never in his wildest dreams did he think that his power source would be a star.

This was a star that they were talking about! How could it be the power source of someone like him? He was sure that even if he was able to awaken his power, he wouldn't be able to control such a huge amount of mana at the same time.

"Are you sure about what you are saying?" with a grim expression on his face, Aiden turned to Ariel and asked. If anyone would know the answer, then it would definitely be her.

The ability of summoned spirits to use the energy from their master's power source was a very powerful one and all summoned spirits could do it. If she confirms that it was his power source then it would definitely be true. After all, she can't be lying about something like this.

"Hmph! Why are you looking at me like that? Do you think I am lying?" seeing the grim look on Aiden's face, Ariel didn't back down instead she returned to her previous prideful and arrogant behaviour, "I know you have noticed it. That the aura around the star is also the same as yours. Also, from what you are thinking, I can tell that you can sense the link between you and me now and you should know if I am lying. With all these, you still think I am lying about your power source?"

"Wait... That is the link?" Aiden asked with his brows raised. After Ariel told him about their relationship as a master and a servant, Aiden suddenly realized the fact that he felt different.

Unlike most other times, the normal him wouldn't have just listened to an outsider for no reason.

The reason why he did so for Ariel was because of the strange feeling of trust and companionship he felt with her. It felt like she was his best friend and if she was to do something bad, like lying to him, he would definitely find out easily. It was the reason why he continued to believe her even after hearing all the unbelievable things she said.

Yet, he had never thought of the fact that the feeling he was experiencing was the contract. The link between him and her.

In fact, he just realized that by focusing a little more, he could tell what was on her mind easily and at this moment, she was definitely not lying.

"Of course! Stop pretending to be ignorant! Remember that I can also read your mind!" Ariel said with an annoyed face.

"Eh..." Aiden scratched his head in embarrassment. He had totally forgotten about the fact that she could also read his mind!

"Anyways, how do I deal with this?" Aiden muttered, turning to the star.

"How do I know? You are supposed to awaken. You can try approaching it or something. I don't know the steps!"

"But how the hell am I supposed to approach something like this? Do you think I do not fear death?" Aiden asked in frustration.

Just like anyone else, he also wanted to awaken a cool power in order to become a mage but from the situation he found himself in, it seemed like everything was just a pipe dream.

When he first heard of the fact that the huge star which tried to attack him the last time was his power source, he became happy for a brief moment before realizing this problem. He had no idea about the way to awaken his new superpower.

In fact, due to his cluelessness about the matter, he wanted to ask Ace what he was supposed to do when they were suddenly teleported. He never thought that he would come to deal with such a problem when he actually arrived at his spirit space and saw his power source. How does he deal with something like this?

"Ugh... This is becoming a headache... Do you have any idea about how to solve this?" Aiden muttered in frustration.

"Wait... Why do I have a power source?" Aiden suddenly seemed to have thought of something as he turned to Ariel.

"What do you mean by that? I mean every mage has .... Oh, I see!" Ariel was about to argue when her eyes suddenly thinned and her body shook rigorously.

"Yes! You realized it. Only mages who have awakened get their power sources. In fact, without awakening one can't get their power source so why do I have one? It can't be that I am a mage already...." Aiden trailed off.

One had to be a mage in order to gain a power source. At least one had to awaken first because without awakening one doesn't get any power source and hence fails to become a mage. All of those who were said to have failed their Magic Awakening exams are said to have failed to gain a power source when they entered the Gate of Life.

"Could I already be a mage?" Aiden couldn't help but think. According to what he knew only mages had a power source. However, after thinking about it for some time, Aiden shook his head. Even though only mages had power sources, the fact that he had a power source didn't mean that he was a mage.

"But then how did I get the power source then?" Aiden couldn't help but mutter. The power source was the most basic component every mage should have and anyone who had awakened their power sources could be said to be a mage.

Yet his situation was different. He didn't remember going through any awakening so how did he get his power source? Maybe, he had gone through an awakening without really noticing it. But could that be possible?

"Wait... That could be it! I might have already awakened!" Aiden shouted as he suddenly thought of something making Ariel look at him with a curious gaze.
