FIRST PERIOD OF MAKKAH

INVITATION TO ISLAM

This was the beginning of the prophet hood. Now the prophet Muhammed [saw] got the command, "arise and deliver the warning of the deadly end in the hereafter in case they deviate from the right path, since there is no way of success but the slavery of Allah.

The invitation of Islam can be divide into two major parts:

Makkah period

Madina period

Secret invitation to Islam

After the conferment of prophet hood, the first step was to decide as to whom the message of praying only one god, should be given.

Prophet Muhammed [saw] decided to invite those who were close to him and knew about the righteousness of prophet Muhammed [saw].

Khadijah was the closest of Muhammed [saw] being his dear wife. Then there were Ali, Zaid and Abu Bakr. Ali was prophet cousin, Zaid was his servant and Abu Bakr was his close friend. The Muhammed [saw] conveyed the message to them.

Till now all the activities were in secret. prophet Muhammed [saw] used to perform prayers in some valley of mountain in the country side. It happened one day that prophet Muhammed [saw] along with Ali was performing prayer in the mountain pass. Then, Abu Talib was passing by that mountain pass and he kept watching his nephew the new way of praying with astonishment when the prayer was over his uncle asked, "what is this religion?" Muhammed [saw] replied, "this is the religion of our grandfather prophet Abraham."

His uncle replied, "you are allowed to follow it, nobody will resist you."

This invitation to the movement continued for 3yrs secretly.
