19 Chapter 19

(Republic City docks)

[Jin's POV]

"Korra, this is absolute madness," a desperate Tenzin said while Korra stepped on a motorboat.

There were only several minutes left before midnight and the airbender didn't know what to do to make the Avatar see the possible consequences of her actions. Tarrlok and a few other members of his task force were there as well.

"Don't try to stop me and don't follow me," Korra replied. "I have to face Amon on my own,"

Tenzin then turned around and pointed his finger at Tarrlok. "This is all because of you, Tarrlok! You convinced her to do this!"

"Excuse me? I tried to talk her out of this nonsense several times, but she refused to listen to me," the Northern Water Tribe representative defended himself, and to his credit, he was actually speaking the truth.

Defeating the Equalists was indeed one of his many goals, but Korra's decision to challenge Amon was far too risky and it could end up doing more harm than good. 'Not to mention, I'm sure that woman got the wind of this and I don't want to know what happens if Korra gets injured or worst... killed" Tarrlok grimance as cold sweat broke out from his back.

In that moment, I appeared riding by Tenzin side, and gave the Avatar a conscending look. Clearly, giving the girl my own advice was a waste of my time, with her overly overestimated of her own power.

Korra would not take anything I said to her heart, In that case I can only let Amon deal with her. "Korra, what the hell do you think you're doing!?"

"I'm going to take care of Amon once and for all, what else does it looks like I'm doing?"

"Are you out of your mind? You're doing exactly what Amon wants you to do! You already know what he can do to you; you can't expect to defeat him all by yourself!" I shouted before taking a deep breath. I tried to calm myself down and attempted to reason with her one last time.

Maybe it's best if I had let the whole thing go on its course, but I have already cause a chain reaction there's no telling what would happen if I let Korra faced Amon.

"Look, this is simply not a smart move. I know that you're scared of Amon, but even so, you have to-"

"I'M NOT SCARED OF HIM!" Korra shouted at the top of her lungs.

"YES, YOU ARE! AND STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD!" I shouted back even harder as I finally exploded. Korra flinched at her voice. "For spirits sake, you never took my advice seriously and all you know is that YOUR THE AVATAR BUT NEVER THOUGHT OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS. YOU THINK JUST BECAUSE YOUR THE AVATAR, THAT EVERYONE HAS TO LISTEN TO YOU BECAUSE WHY? THAT EVERYTHING YOU SAID IS RIGHT?! HUH! I THINK YOUR FORGET THAT BEING THE AVATAR MEANS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, NOT JUST DOING WHAT'S RIGHT! YOU CHALLENGING AMON WITHOUT KNOWING HIS FULL CAPABILITIES IS OUTRIGHT STUPID, MORONIC AND ABSOLUTELY SUICIDE!"

"In fact, you're not just scared, you're terrified of him! You've had nightmares of him, for crying out loud! But the problem is that you're far too proud, stubborn, and naive to admit it! And because of that, you've made a stupid decision! A stupid move everyone knows you would do, punching things through!"

"That's enough, Jin! I'm sure she gets your point." Tenzin shouted standing between the two of us.

Of all the things that happened so far, he didn't think Jin would snapped at a crucial moment! She should be trying to convince Korra to back down, not talk her down that's just escalating the problem!

"Fine, if that's what you think!" Korra yelled blushing in shamed and contempt, Jin words hurt her the most because Jin was the first person who didn't tried to control whatever she do like Tenzin and The White Lotus or Lin who obviously dislike her from the very beginning.

She can't help but think that Jin might have a point, but she couldn't back down now. Especially, since she publicly challenge Amon in the first place. Steeling her heart, the determination in her eyes burned bright wishing to prove her strength to the world and most of all to Jin.

After Korra left, "Jin, you have crossed the line!" Tenzin snapped at me, glaring sternly. I sneered mockingly "if I didn't tell her who's going to? what do you expect? Wait for her until she's dead?!" Shutting the Airbender pricked, the air grew tense. No one knew what to do, Jin was after all someone who rarely gets furious at most anger but not like today.

She looked like someone who had enough of your bullshit, and was barely holding back from riping you apart. Even then Lin and Tenzin was surprised, but thinking back to how stressful the young woman jobs was since Korra's arrival. They could only look at her with pity in their eyes but was it necessary for her to say all those hurtful words to the young Avatar? Maybe, Maybe not even so all her words were on point.

(Avatar Aang's Memorial Island, one hour after midnight)

Korra was still waiting for Amon to showed up, while I stayed under the water. Bending the water around my head to allow oxygen circulation while actively protecting Korra and trying to find Amon and his lackeys.

I had always wondered how they appeared, did they come with the boats? but that wasn't possible with Lin, Tenzin and the RCPD patrolling the area.

The only thing I've think is that there's a secret hidden passage built under the memorial island that wasn't known to the public or for anyone in that matter. I didn't managed to check the area with seismic sense, while we wait for them due to the fact that I could potentially alerted them.

Amon was still nowhere to be seen.

"I guess you're a no-show, Amon. Who's scared now?" Korra thought out loud as she stood up and started to leave.

When Korra was near the exit, she immediately felt something in her legs and tripped. She looked down and saw a whip coming from the shadows that dragged her into the darkness.

Seeing them appeared out of nowhere I didn't have the time to time where the hell did they come from as I earth bend underneath my feet shooting myself up like a cannon ball towards the nearest Equalist member, bending my knees. I hit his back knocking him out cold, one of them spotted me.

I dived under his feet, swiping his legs off the ground before punching his face three times to knocking him out.

While Korra used her feet to burn the whip and quickly stood up. There were a total of twenty chi-blockers surrounding her with glowing red eyes. Before she could react, two other whips caught her arms and separated them, leaving her with only her feet to defend herself.

Bending boulders from the ground, punching the towards the Equalist holding Korra's arm. Setting Korra free, which she fire bends them knocking them on the wall.

Amon seeing his Ambush failed ordered their retreat, while I punched small boulders after him which he manages to dodge. "Miss Jin An, Republic City Special Counsultant. I must say your are truly a formidable woman, and a hard woman to deal with."

"And your the most annoying rats, I ever know Amon." I smiled sarcastically, making the fake none-bender squint his eyes feeling annoyed and ticked off.

"I will not let anyone get in my way, princess not even Avatar Korra!" Amon stated hellbent on his plan. "Amon! your not getting that away that easy!" Korra exclaimed fire balls at him and without any warning, I earth bend a wall behind him cutting off his only exit while he manages to evade Korra's attack.

"Oh, but I already have." Amon arrogant vocied out dropping black metalic balls on the ground as it burst into smoke, blocking out our view and once the air was cleared.

Amon was nowhere to be found.
