Chapter 54: Shigan

The fight had barely begun, but Toru was already lying on the ground with blood coming out of his mouth. Although he could see Okamitsuki's attack, he was not strong enough to block it, much less dodge it.

Smiling, Okamitsuki thought this situation was a bit ironic. Putting the weights aside, Toru was now ready to fight.

In response to this, Okamitsuki looked at the boy and prepared to attack. But what she never expected was to see the boy disappear in front of her.

All the Okami looked for the boy with their eyes, but it was too late, Toru was on top of Okamitsuki, aiming his daggers at the spine.

Swooping down, Toru was about to bury his daggers in Okamitsuki's back, but just before he got there, he felt as if death was watching him in the dark. The only thing he knew afterwards, was that a wolf claw hit him so hard that his body left a crater on the ground.

At this moment, blood began to flow from the wounds, some of his bones were broken, but due to the adrenaline of the moment, he felt no pain at all.

(This child is not normal, but I can't say it's surprising either. Now he just has to wait for his death in agony, that's the law of nature, that's how the world handles things).

Looking at the child lying on the ground, Okamitsuki sighed, she thought this duel would last longer, but in the end it turned out to be disappointing, because not only did she defeat the child with one blow, but right now that child was going to die in front of her eyes.

Looking at Toru, Okaminaru felt a bit guilty. At first she thought that watching her mother fight would be fun, but now she thought quite the opposite.

The smell of blood in the place reached the noses of all the wolves, an exquisite scent of death made everyone feel hungry, but Okamitsuki looked at everyone with anger on her face, calming down the situation right away. Then, out of the darkness, a large shadow with large feathered wings appeared behind Toru.

Little by little, in a delicate way, the shadow caressed Toru's body with its thin, skeletal hands. His chest, his back, his abdomen, the shadow caressed Toru's body until it reached his face.

At the same time, strange whispers were heard in the place, whispers that were unintelligible to Toru. However, the shadow wanted the boy to hear it, wanted him to feel how its fingers touched his eyes.

As if two large needles were piercing his eyes, Toru let out a moan of pain. Blood began to flow out of his eyes like tears, but this was not enough, the shadow wanted more, this made it dig its nails even deeper until it reached Toru's brain.

Slowly and delicately, the shadow felt inside Toru's head. After a few seconds, it used the same delicacy to pull its fingers out of the boy's eyes.

Hugging him tightly with its thin arms and wrapping its wings around his body, the shadow placed a small kiss on Toru's forehead.

This was the darkness of blood that was in that place, it was the darkness that lurked in Toru's soul, a darkness so deep and dark that no one could find an end to it.

"Arise, my son..."

With a faint gentle smile, the shadow whispered a few last words in Toru's ear. And as if the shadow's wishes were orders, Toru rose.

Okamitsuki watched this with astonished eyes, this boy had stood up after all the damage he received, but there was something strange about him.

He was staggering from side to side, as if he couldn't stand up, well, that's obvious, after all the blow he received from Okamitsuki left Toru's body like a piece of shit.

Shaking his head, Okamitsuki sighed and looked at Toru.

All the wolves saw it, the one who got up from the ground was not a normal child, it was the shadow of a monster that froze everyone's blood.

Stopping his words, Okamitsuki's eyes widened at the sight of Toru, who looked up, showing the eyes of death.

The pupil now had the shape of a black X that stretched all the way to the corners of the iris, which shone in an intense silver color, at the same time, the edges of the cornea just around the iris glowed blue like the sky. In addition, a tear of blood ran down one of Toru's cheeks.

The boy couldn't even understand what was happening, because now his way of seeing things had changed.

They looked around, Toru realized that everything he saw had strange golden lines covering the surface of existence. Every living thing, the wolves, the trees, the air itself, everything had strange golden lines surrounding it.

(My eyes, they hurt... but, it is as if this pain relaxes my body).

Looking up at the sky, Toru let out a long sigh. He was in the middle of a duel, there was no time to rest, he had to get that contract no matter what, this was his desire, it was something he would not allow himself to lose. It didn't matter if his visual ability had changed, he would somehow use it to defeat Okamitsuki.

So in one swift movement, Toru's body flashed, disappearing in plain sight, and reappearing in front of Okamitsuki.

The Okami clan leader was surprised, this boy seemed to want to attack a specific point, but she was not going to let him, this was a duel to the death, they both knew it, so no one should hold back.

Sitting waiting for her older brother to appear, Hanabi was getting worried. According to what Yamato had told them, Toru disappeared more than five hours ago, so being worried was the most normal thing in the world, Hinata and Ino shared this thought.

Yamato on the other hand, was feeling a little worried, he had sent his student alone against who knows who. But they are sure that somehow, Toru was going to be okay.

"How strange, I think the ground is shaking."

Looking around, Hanabi could detect strange resonances in the ground, so without a second thought she activated her Byakugan, but not what she saw froze her blood.

Yamato opened his eyes in surprise at what he was seeing. In front of him, a giant silver-furred wolf was holding something between its fangs. The wolf did not seem to have hostile intentions, but it had some cuts on its body, something that was clearly caused in a fight.

Oblivious to everyone's stares, the wolf slowly approached. When it was closer, everyone could see what the wolf had in between its fangs, it was Toru, whose sweater was attached to one of the fangs, preventing it from falling to the ground.

Shaking his head, the wolf laid Toru down on the ground gently, as this boy was completely shattered.

"Use medical ninjutsu on him, he'll be better tomorrow morning."

From the gigantic wolf, a female voice came out and calmed the situation. Yamato was surprised, as he did not expect this at all, but he could already imagine what happened with Toru.

"Thank you for bringing him back."

Clasping their hands together, roots came out of the ground and created a stretcher for Toru. Yamato sighed, the giant wolf was very scary, but it didn't seem to have any hostile intent.

"Oh, that's right, I almost forgot."

Reaching through his fur, the wolf pulled out a large scroll and placed it on the ground. Both the Hyuga sisters and Ino's eyes widened at the sight of the scroll, after all their questions already had an answer.

"You must guard this child with your life, he is someone special."

With a sharp fanged smile, Okamitsuki sighed. This child, no matter how many times he was knocked down, in the end he always got back up to continue the fight. She was proud of Toru, for he had earned her respect. Also the strange eyes that Toru showed during the fight left her intrigued, as they were unlike any dojutsu she had ever seen before.

She didn't know it, but she was misunderstanding Toru, who only wanted the contract with the Okami clan, and if he had to get hurt to get it, he would do it without hesitation. Still he almost died, he also had this strange vision and these strange eyes that allowed him to see strange lines in everything he saw.

After that, Okamitsuki disappeared into the leaves of the trees, leaving this group of ninjas with a lot of questions, but there was no time to be distracted, as Toru was injured.

He had a lot of bandages all over his body, the beating he had received was bestial, he couldn't believe he had come out of it alive.

The last thing Toru remembered was the most intense fight he had ever had so far. When he woke up, Hanabi and Hinata were by his side, Ino was also there but a bit away from the group. When they realized he had woken up, like a nuclear bomb, the questions dropped.

"Hm...he had a broken arm...how did you fix it?"

Remembering that he had been bitten on the arm, Toru sighed, these wolves had a lot of secrets, and then there was that large scroll in the corner of the room. On the inside of the paper, was Toru's signature written in blood, that meant the contract was carried out, but he didn't remember it as he was unconscious when Okaminaru took him by the hand to sign the paper.

"These eyes..."

Looking in the mirror, Toru saw the strange eyes that allowed him to see the golden lines. During the fight, he remembered that these eyes showed lines appearing everywhere.

"Lines of death..."

Blinking again and again, the eyes glowed. Indeed, they were very beautiful in some way or another. Besides, these lines seemed to show the weak points of anything.

"Sharingan... Byakugan..."

Trying to think of a name for these eyes, Toru touched his lower lip and looked at his eyes.

"Shigan [Eyes of Death]."

The perfect name for these eyes had been born, who knew that in the future these very eyes would cause an uproar throughout Konoha.
