Silver Dust

Three miles surrounding The Facility's entrance was a dense forest consist of big trees of different species. This is usually the route where vampires prefer to travel the most because the thick shadows of the trees can hide them.

Captain Luther Mercado and his 90 soldiers were camping nearby, in full alert. They were the special elite group of soldiers who specialize in hunting vampires, sometimes they were called vigilante groups by the public.

"Sir, we already prepared the net and all the silver dust were being scattered in the surrounding trees, this area has the highest probability that the vampires will take as their route. As of this moment, we are still waiting for the signal of their presence," said the second in command named Arnold.

"Okay, tell our men to standby and wait for the signal of vampires approaching, stay alert men!" he yelled.

He took a cigarette, lighted it and put it in his mouth.

The net is covered with silver dust, it's not ordinary dust, it's component is made of chemicals that have the same content as of those anti-vampire vaccines that can kill vampires. Not only their grenades, bullets and other weapons were made of the same components, their clothes and bodies were also covered with silver dust. A vampires skin that comes in contact with the silver dust will have their skin burnt to ashes. The grenades once exploded and vampires will inhale the smoke, they will suffocate and die.

If all things go according to plan tonight, they will capture few alive vampires to hold as a hostage so that they can penetrate the Facility successfully and hunt the rest of the vampires hiding in there. He's not sure though if all vampires will survive tonight, chances are they will all die.

He watched his men with their night vision goggles attached on their faces, hiding behind the shadows of trees and bushes. Their rifles were aimed at the center of the forest ready to fire.

Tonight he will make sure none of his men will be wounded or end dead. His plan is 100% solid proof.

Suddenly, the tiny signal machine held by Arnold has been beeping nonstop, he muted it. It's a signal confirmation that vampires were approaching the vicinity.

"Sir, we have a signal, vampires approaching, confirmed!"

Captain Mercado pulled the cigarette from his mouth and grounded it with his shoes.

"The estimates...how many?" he asked.

"Approximately...a hundred vampires Sir!"

"Fantastic! Let's get ready men!" he shouted.

A few minutes later...

The soldiers were holding their breath as they watch the first forty vampires that came into view, then followed by another sixty vampires. They were hovering, floating in the air, just in line with the surrounding trees.

Captain Luther saw one of the vampire holding a body in his arms. Then he saw long hair cascading behind it, it looks like that long hair belongs to a woman and seems to be unconscious. Did the vampires kidnap that woman? Is that woman a vampire or a human?

They didn't expect this scenario...

"Be careful men, I spotted a woman held by one of the vampires....identity of that woman unknown, hold your fire!" he had spoken to his radio.

...

All of a sudden the vampires stop hovering, they landed on the ground and huddled together...they detected that something is wrong with the surroundings!

Prince Zain, saw the silver dust glowing in the bodies of the trees, in the bushes and all around them, then he looked up above, his eyes widened, there's a wide net covered with silver dust closing up their escape route few meters from above their heads. All the vampires saw it!

"Damn, it's a trap!" he shouted. Dread creeping up on his spine. The path behind them has also been covered with silver dust and another net was closing in, already blocking their escape. He can see humans' form hidden behind the trees and bushes, their ripples were aiming at them.

Then it dawned on him...there is no escape! They will all die tonight!

...Jessy stirred from her sleep and slowly opened her eyes. The moon above is at it's brightest, her eyes shined through it and landed on the persons' face who is currently holding her, it's P-Prince Zain!

"P-put me down, Zain!" she ordered.

"You're awake! Shhh, keep your voice down, Jess! We're in the middle of a trap. Soldiers were surrounding us, they have the anti-vampire vaccine elements in their guns and weapons. I still have to think of a plan to escape," he said in a weary voice.

"That is why you need to put me down!" she hissed. "Can't you teleport back into the Facility to bypass the trap?" she asked.

Prince Zain shook his head. "No. Only Adam and my Mother can do teleporting ability. The rest of us can only hover and float in the air."

Jessy sighed. "W-where is Adam?" she finally asked.

"He's dead. We buried him beside your rose garden," he said flatly.

Jessy holds back the tears from falling. This is not the time for tears and grieving. She is in the middle of a war. Life and death between soldiers and vampires are at stake tonight. After Adams death, she doesn't want to witness any more death tonight! not if she can help it.

She wants to know if she already has her power finally activated.

She concentrated and activated all her brains cell...and instructed them to freeze the Prince's body from the neck down.

Slowly the Prince body froze!

"What the f*ck are you doing? Unfreeze me!" the Prince hissed.

Jess' grinned. Wow, that was easy, huh? Her previous practice was finally put to good use. She unfreezes the Prince right away.

All of a sudden they heard a loud voice originating from the western area..."Release the woman or else we will start firing!"

Prince Zain smiled a little. If they will all die tonight then so be it. But there is one way Jessy can be saved. She is the most important thing for the vampires' clan right now. If she can escape alive, he and his comrades' deaths will be justified.

"Go on-Jess, escape now while you still have time," said Prince Zain. Hi finally put her down.

She nodded. "Don't make any stupid move after I'm gone. I will find a way to save you all, just give me time."

Prince Zain just look at her warily in the eyes, not sure to believe her or not.

Jessy started walking towards the western side where the voice originated.

...

"Sir, the woman is approaching..." said the second in command.

Captain Luther stared at the woman, trying to discern if she is a human or a vampire. If she is a vampire she will be burned with the dust scattered on the ground in front of them.

"Sir, the woman steps on the silver dust!"

Nothing happens...

The soldiers were watching the woman's every move...

"Capture her with the net!"

Soon a net falls from the tree and enveloped Jessy. She wriggled underneath the net wanting to get out.

"Men, bring me the woman!"

Three soldiers step out of the shadow and drag Jessy along with them.

"Please don't hurt me!" she pretended to cry.

Arnold inspects Jess' body, she has not suffered any burn in her arms, face, and feet.

"Sir, it's confirmed, this woman is human!"

Captain Luther stared at the woman in front of her. "Did the vampires kidnap you, Miss?" he asked.

Jessy didn't reply. She just closed her eyes...

She was now deep in concentration, she instructed her mind to freeze all living things within fifty meters radius.

"Miss, answer our Captain!" the second in command yelled at her.

She continued her concentration.

Silence took over...

When she opened her eyes they were no longer moving...she can no longer hear anything... only the deafening silence filled her senses.

She looked around her, on the vampires' side, they were also frozen by her power!

Yikes!

But she can not waste any precious time.

Once again, she instructed her mind to transport all the soldiers somewhere far away from the forest and the public...ahhh...she got it...the best place should be at the park where as of this moment has no longer visitors, hope so, she said to herself.

She envisioned the park in her mind and all shoulders were teleported into the park in seconds time! Her power was quick! She was thoroughly amazed!

She unfreezes the soldiers...right in front of her is the Captain...his eyes were fixated on her face and he blinked twice, she stared into his eyes...then grinned.

"Bye Bye Captain!" she said and she suddenly vanished into thin air.

The soldiers were aghast when they discovered where they are, at the park out of nowhere! What the hell they are doing in the park? The last time they checked they were in the middle of the forest...and now...?

"Sir...I don't understand!?" asked the second in command.

"I just saw The Crossbreed in my own two eyes! She's responsible for all this!" he gritted his teeth.

"W-who are you talking about-Sir?"

"That woman! She is part human and vampire. The powerful Crossbreed is a girl!"

"F*ck!" the second in command swore.

"Yeah, were indeed F*ck!'

"Give me the coordinates, men! Where are we exactly?"

"Six miles from the targets, Sir."

"F*ck!" Captain Luther swore. By the time they will arrive back into the forest the vampires already escape. "Call the headquarters, send vehicles here to pick us up!" he barked his orders.

"The Mission is aborted. Men, prepare to go home!" he finally said.

Captain Luther shuts his eyes. As long as he is alive, he will never forget that woman's face! He promised to himself that he will chase her to the ends of the earth!
