Cassie and Jared have already walked a considerable distance when the latter suddenly felt the need to ask the other party.
"Were you on medication?"
"Yeah... I used to take Nuplazid to curb my hallucinations"
Cassie replied without bothering to hide anything from him.
"I knew it! That darn pimavanserin drug again."
"Why do you ask? And how did you know about it anyway?"
This time, it was Cassie who asked Jared a question. She wondered how 'Mr. Guardian Angel' knew a thing or two about drugs that used to treat psychosis.
Meanwhile, Jared who has no idea how his sudden question raised suspicion on Cassie's end answered her honestly.
"At first I have no idea of its effect either. But it turned out that shit stops one from seeing them..."
Jared momentarily made a pause as he contemplated whether he should say it or not. He was not sure if it was okay for him to mention it, but in the end, he still spilled it.
"---- and Rhian told me that it also makes it harder for you to orgasm. You know the seesaws in the kids' playground? Ever since she came off with med, they make her come really hard."
The more he spoke, the deeper the crease that formed on Cassie's forehead, and oblivious to the change on the other party's expression, Jared continued.
"The look on the kids' faces------"
He was just about to continue saying more when he finally felt the dead serious stare that Cassie had been throwing in his direction.
"It is wrong. I know."
He added sheepishly. But then after a short while, he remembered something again.
"Have you ever slept with a guy with cold semen?"
"What?!"
Cassie was visibly taken aback when Jared asked her that but she still answered him.
"No. I don't think so. It's not like I always check."
She added afterward.
"Well then, keep this in mind. It might come in handy in the future. If a guy turned out to be possessed by a demon, their semen would go cold. That is a major warning sign."
"Well, thank you for the information. But if it comes to the point that I am already taking the temperature of his semen, it is probably too late by then, right?"
"Oh right. I was not thinking about it that far."
Jared laughed when Cassie pointed that out and realized that it was indeed foolish of him to bring that up. After all, who in their right mind would carry a semen thermometer anyway?
"Anyway, this is me, so...."
Out of the blue, Jared declared that and gestured to the building standing right behind him.
"This is you?!"
Cassie, on the other hand, almost slapped her forehead when she realized where they were headed to.
"I hate to unload and run but if I don't see my therapist, they will section me."
Cassie no longer said anything after hearing that explanation coming from Jared. So the other party felt the need to say more.
"This provides a good alibi whenever I was caught doing something crazy outside. They can always trace it down to a psychiatric ward. So far, I think this provides the best cover for our secret identity as demon hunters."
Jared thought that his words already made enough sense so he stopped explaining.
"By the way, the prick from last night, do you want to help me hunt him down?"
He asked Cassie but the other party declined in a roundabout manner.
"I have work. I have to work."
"OK, another time."
He said and her answer came short and not to mention, dry.
"Definitely."
She said with her tone and face devoid of any emotion. Then she added,
"I will bring my arsepole."
Jared was not quite sure if she meant to sound sarcastic when she said that to him but he ended up seconding her.
"Oh yeah. You should and you should get to speed girl. This is happening."
"Certainly."
"You don't sound like you believe me."
Jared pointed out when he noticed that Cassie did not seem to be taking their conversation seriously.
"I was kinda going with it. But the psychiatric unit is giving me some doubts."
She replied with all honesty and when Jared heard her response, he could not help but sigh.
"So you think I am crazy."
"They think you are crazy, apparently."
"If I am crazy, you are crazy too."
"You think I don't know that yet?"
The more they exchanged words, the more they sounded like they were having an argument so Jared decided to stop from there and concluded their conversation with a piece of advice.
"You just need some time to get your head around it."
"Yeah."
Cassie agreed and without asking for her consent, Jared took her arm and started scribbling on it. He hummed as he jotted something on the other party's skin with a marker.
"We should go get some cocktails next time. I saw you. You loves drinking, right?"
Cassie did not answer him so Jared continued to speak.
"Call me, any time; day or night. But not Tuesday evenings before nine though. I usually enjoy chipotle with Rico around that time."
"I could have just put it in my phone."
She said when she realized that Jared wrote his contact details straight on her forearm.
"In my experience, girls tends to lose their phones."
"Or they tell you they lose them. They don't want to call you because you totally weird them out."
Cassie's words seemed to strike a chord in Jared's heartstring and he was silent for a while. After that, he excused himself and left.
"I have to go."
He entered the building, leaving Cassie standing on the sidewalk all by herself.
