The Last Demon Slayer

A loud banging sound could be heard from the trunk of an old car that was parked inside an abandoned warehouse. The inhumane rocking of the car was accompanied by a muffled scream. "Shhh... Be quiet..." One said as she slowly opened the trunk and pulled the poor lady out from it. The two suspicious characters that were wearing clown masks tied the poor lady in the middle of the floor where a big pentagram was scribbled. "MSHGGSKKSSSSH!!!!" The poor lady made a desperate attempt to scream but it was to no avail. One of her assailants had the heart to remove her gag but the first thing that she asked as soon as it was removed was, "Is this a prank??? I know it was you, Cassie. That shirt is mine." As soon as she heard her name, Cassie removed her mask. "Ana, don't panic. We will just exorcise you, okay? Calm down. After all of this is done, we could just all pretend that none of this ever happened in the first place." "What?!!!!!! You're crazy, Cassie!" "NO! Look, you tried to strangle me with a belt last night. But don't worry because I don't blame you for that. You were possessed and right now we will exorcise that demon out from your body." "No-----mmmpphhhh" Before the lady named Ana could even speak another word of protest, Cassie already gagged her again with that same piece of cloth that they used before. "So what are we gonna do next?" "You have to pee on her?" "No way! I would never pee on my best friend! Jared, that's insane!" "Then let us just all forget about this whole exorcism thing then because it was clearly written here. Instruction No.1. You have to mark the subject with your own scent." Spirit of Alcohol

Things had been said and I am a man of my words so there was no way I would take back what I already said. So despite the quizzical looks that my colleagues had been throwing at my direction, I hardened my resolve and stuck to my decision of meeting Cassie.

"Besides, I was even the one to suggest for the meeting place, so I guess I am in the point of no return."

I thought out loud as I am trying to convince myself, in a way, I was also able to explain my action to my team.

"There was no going back in this, I will going to meet her and so be it."

I added and without wasting another minute of my time, I turned on my heel and hit the road right away.

"I guess, it would not harm to ditch my schedules every now and then."

That was what I told myself as I made my way to the port. It was just a few blocks away from our headquarters anyway, so I decided to go there by foot.

Not long after, I arrived to our meeting place and there I saw the girl waiting for me. Cassie at the time was facing the body of water and was staring off the distance when I got there. But rather than approaching her, I stopped on my track first and started to take my time to observe her.

The wind was blowing on her long black hair the moment I got there. Apparently, the seaside breeze made not only the nearby trees to dance but also the hem of the other party dress. Also, it was at this point that I noticed how attractive she looked from a far.

Cassie was still a kid when I first encountered her and time passed in a blur since that. Going forward to the present time where almost two decade had passed since we first met each other, the young lady in my memory had grown much more mature.

She naturally commanded a disposition of elegance, and her facial features had gotten far more ravishing as well, as if they had been painstakingly carved into perfection. With just one look, one would find oneself unwittingly holding one's breath. She was simply too beautiful. Every single aspect of her seemed to be the embodiment of beauty itself, making it impossible to pick out a single flaw in it.

Wait!

What?!!

Why am I even saying that?

GEEZ!

It must be the spirit of alcohol trying to rally control over me. I am probably not completely sober yet. I drank a lot last night, after all.

Slowly, I made my way towards her and the nearer I get the stronger the smell of flower became. Its fragrance drifted in a tranquil and vast port and when I tried to use my nose and followed the source of it, I realized that it was coming from the girl that I was about to meet. With her hands behind her back, the image she portrayed gave off a peaceful vibe that it seemed as if it could have been a painting.

I was just about to get her attention when all of a sudden, she turned around and faced me. Perhaps I have been staring at her for way too long that my eyes started to bore into her, which in the end gave my presence away.

"Hi."

The other party greeted me in a bashful manner as soon as she noticed me and I was considerate enough to greet her back. But I also sported a nonchalant face as I replied.

"Hi."

I mumbled and for a second, we were both at a loss of words to say.

"Do you want to get coffee?"

Out of the blue, she tried to offer me something. But I quickly shook my head in refusal.

"The thing is, I don't drink coffee. It makes me shit, big time."

I tried to explain afterward when I saw her knitting her brows together upon being rejected.

"Can you drink tea, then?"

She insinuated but at the same time, I also could not help but notice that she seemed to sound relatively sheepish today, unlike when I first met her.

"Hmmm... Tea is good."

I consented while nodding my head in agreement.
