Zod's Rebellion

Even grimmer news reached Varion's ears.

Due to an energy crisis, the elders had resorted to using technology developed by Star Core, which had already depleted its resources. Krypton, already struggling, now had less than a month left at most.

The protective shield surrounding the city was continually siphoning energy from the Krypton's core, effectively dooming it to destruction.

The situation grew increasingly dire. Varion was in a state of panic and began moving supplies into his spaceship. These supplies mainly consisted of various unique Kryptonian materials, equipment, and resources. The entire spacecraft was packed to the brim, leaving Mousse somewhat bewildered. This was no longer a research spacecraft; it looked more like preparations for escaping a catastrophe.

Even a piece of technology unique to the Zar family had been transferred by Varion. This material could potentially create technology that would elevate Kryptonian civilization to god-like levels. Yet, no one dared to speak of it, and no one would believe it. Varion had once alluded to this with his adoptive grandfather, who had merely smiled and brushed it off, but the helplessness in his eyes had betrayed him.

Behind all of this, there had to be an enemy orchestrating events.

"Master, Zod's people have arrived in the city and deployed several warships. Is he planning a betrayal?" Kale exclaimed in anger.

"No, Kale, he's trying to save Krypton. Although his methods are questionable, he's trying his best given the circumstances."

"What should we do then?"

Varion looked up and asked, "Are the preparations in order?"

"Everyone is ready, they are all family members."

"Good."

Varion nodded. At this point, involving outsiders was not an option; there was no guarantee of security. Only his own people could execute what he had in mind, even though it might be a mission with no return.

"Ready! Weapons are loaded onto the ship."

Although Kale was puzzled, he followed the orders. He suspected that his young master might be planning to confront Zod. After all, Zod had gone to extreme lengths this time, even deploying attack ships within the city.

A week later.

"Master, Jor-El has headed to the Presbyterian Hall, and Zod's forces are gathering."

Varion stood up and said, "Let's go."

The group boarded the spacecraft and departed from the manor. Watching Varion leave, Mousse, who remained in the manor, sighed with relief. Who was Mousse? He was a contemporary of Kayla, a member of theScience Council. It couldn't be that simple.

In his hand, he held a note that read: "I'll settle everything when I return, Varion."

Mousse chuckled, "Seems like everyone has underestimated the young master!"

....

Central Administration, Elder Hall.

"Why are you pursuing the development of a star core when you know the cost, especially when Krypton's time is running out, perhaps only a week or less? Have you considered the future of our planet?" questioned one of the elegantly attired Kryptonians, each radiating wisdom.

"Jor-El, the planet's energy is depleted. What do you expect us to do?"

"If you provide me with the Code of Life, I can bring hope to Krypton, and that hope will be in my hands."

"How can you guarantee that?" another elder inquired.

Jor-El let out a heavy sigh, ready to respond.

However, just as he was about to speak, a deafening roar echoed at the door, causing some parts of the hall to shatter. Who could it be?

Bang, bang, bang!

Several voices were heard as the guards outside the Elder Hall collapsed without visible injuries but with their insides shattered, beyond saving.

Krypton had no death penalty, and such brutal acts hadn't occurred on the planet for a long time. Who dared to commit such an atrocity?

Footsteps approached, and a group of individuals emerged from the smoke, brandishing firearms with arrogance.

"TheScience Council is no more," Zod declared calmly.

A member of theScience Council turned pale and stammered, "Who could issue such an order?"

"I did."

Bang! A female officer behind Zod promptly shot and killed the Presbyterian member who had spoken. The rest were too afraid to utter a word. One soldier even forcibly pulled a member of theScience Council to the ground, causing chaos.

"It's people like you who only know how to live in luxury. It's because of you that Krypton has reached this state!" Jor-El shouted angrily. "Zod, what are you planning?"

"What am I planning? Can't you see? I'm punishing these sinful Kryptonians. If it weren't for their corruption and cowardice, Krypton wouldn't be in this state today."

Zod placed his hand on Jor-El's shoulder. "Jor-El, come with me. We can create a better Krypton and bring hope to our entire race."

"With what? With violence? Zod, you've personally destroyed the principles that made our entire race strong," Jor-El retorted, stepping back to avoid Zod's grasp.

"Even if you put an end to all of this today, all you'll command will be ashes and corpses. Believe me," Jor-El added. Attempting to rule or overthrow the Kryptonian regime through violence was futile.

Zod looked disappointed and waved his hand. Immediately, someone stepped forward to restrain Jor-El. He couldn't die just yet; as Krypton's chief scientist, he still had much to contribute.

"Take him away."

Zod then glared sternly at the members of theScience Council before him. The once-mightyScience Council had now fallen, and he believed it was their actions that had led Krypton to this dire state.
