13 Sun Bath

Speeding all the way, heading directly to the company's headquarters in Raccoon City.

Upon arrival, Varion took the special elevator to the upper floors of the building. This massive skyscraper, with over 100 floors, was occupied by the Umbrella Company, exuding a futuristic and sci-fi ambiance. In this world, it was considered the pinnacle of technological achievement, and every innovation emanating from this company was groundbreaking and influential.

Varion had considered starting his own company, given his research capabilities. He believed he could achieve success quickly, but the practicality of such a venture was questionable. Umbrella had already firmly established itself in this world, making it more cost-effective to engage in covert activities from within.

Once the "cleaning plan" was initiated, it would be easier to attain his objectives undercover.

A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts, and he heard an invitation to enter. The door swung open, and a secretary ushered him into a lavish office, where he met Dr. Isaac, a middle-aged man.

"Nice to meet you, Dr. Varion," greeted Dr. Isaac.

"Likewise, Dr. Isaac," replied Varion.

"Stop standing there, Lisa, please bring us two cups of coffee. Thank you," requested Isaac.

After they were seated, Isaac opened his computer, displaying the email Varion had sent him the previous day.

"Dr. Varion, with all due respect, considering the level of your research, there's no reason why no one would invest in you. Why not consider joining a company?" Isaac inquired.

As Lisa brought the coffee, Isaac expressed his gratitude.

"Thanks."

Once Lisa exited, Isaac continued the conversation and secretly admired his acting skills.

"What are your thoughts on my research, Doctor?"

Isaac nodded, "It's impressive. I see many ideas worth exploring."

"Unfortunately, others don't share that sentiment. Some even claim they can't see the potential," Varion responded, a hint of frustration in his voice.

Isaac empathized, "That's regrettable."

Varion went on, "Actually, these are not my primary interests. In my opinion, these are merely basic applications of my abilities. My true expertise lies in bioengineering, and I've already made significant advancements in that field."

Isaac was taken aback, his jaw almost dropping. He struggled to find words, resorting to phrases like "incredible," "unheard of," and "unprecedented."

"Then you are welcome to join, Dr. Varion," Isaac extended his invitation.

"Thank you," Varion replied, their hands clasped together. Isaac intended to leverage Varion's knowledge and insights to realize his plans, perhaps even astonishing him in the process. Varion, on the other hand, was focused on using this opportunity to lay the groundwork for future actions once the "cleaning plan" was set in motion.

After all, even Superman isn't invincible from the moment of birth or arrival on Earth. Everything requires a process. Despite possessing scientific prowess, Varion couldn't guarantee a 100% success rate in cleansing the world, so he was better off being cautious and prepared.

"Isn't it lovely to bask in the sun?"

"However, there is something Dr. Isaac might need to consider."

Isaac paused for a moment and asked, "Dr. Varion, please, what do you mean? If you need support, I assure you it will be thoroughly considered."

"My experiments might require a substantial amount of experimental materials... um, do you catch my drift?"

Isaac knew that, in the realm of virology and bioengineering, the study often entailed involvement with human subjects. After all, the ultimate purpose and foundation of all technology was to serve humanity.

"I don't think Dr. Varion should be concerned about this. Our company has strong connections with America and many other countries worldwide. They can supply us with ample death row inmates and lifers. You see, we'll compensate them generously. I believe they'll consider it an honor—for the future of mankind."

"For the future of mankind."

The two exchanged smiles. Isaac felt that he had found a kindred spirit. In the early days, when the company was in its infancy, objections were common whenever someone wanted to conduct research. In his view, only the most dedicated and unconventional minds had a chance at succeeding in scientific endeavors. Varion embodied that spirit.

Once Varion completed his task and officially joined the company, they would provide him with all the necessary accommodations, including housing, transportation, and even his own dedicated laboratory and assistants. He would be highly valued.

However, despite all this, his office was still located in the underground facility of the Umbrella Corporation, indicating that he was still under observation.

"Yes, it appears there's been no contact with the T-virus."

Varion adhered to his work routines as if nothing had changed. He continued his research, but it had no apparent connection to his area of expertise. It seemed to involve materials, leaving those monitoring him puzzled.

"How's he doing?"

Isaac inquired as he entered the monitoring room. The surveillance personnel reported, "Doctor, Dr. Varion hasn't been conducting much research lately. He's currently leading a project related to materials."

"Materials? Does he have expertise in that area?"

Isaac was perplexed. He had expected Varion to embark on research more aligned with his talents, not delve into these unrelated matters.

"Keep an eye on him."

"Of course."

Isaac left the monitoring room and proceeded to Varion's research room. Inside, Varion was conducting an experiment, specifically a shooting experiment.

Isaac waited until the experiments were finished before entering. To be frank, he considered it a waste of Varion's talents to have him working on such experiments, not at all in line with what he had envisioned.

"Hey, Dr. Varion, how's everything going?"
