2 Krypton

"I've always struggled to understand this matter, even when he didn't cross, even if he didn't know much about DC comics, he couldn't fathom why the Kryptonian acted this way.

Under normal circumstances, no individual would willingly give up their own life.

Moreover, theScience Council, a long-lived group of beings created by the code of life, inherently serves Krypton. It's encoded into their very genes, an unshakable principle. Unless there's a compelling reason, they won't deviate from this path. If Krypton doesn't perish, all Kryptonians will die, and only a few will survive to continue the race.

"If we infer, who is behind all this? The Ring-Bearer? Darkseid? Or an even more formidable adversary?"

Standing atop the family castle, rocky terrain stretching as far as the eye can see, the roar of beasts, and the planet Krypton's intense gravity setting it apart from Earth. However, the real focus here is their family.

The name of Varion's life should be Varion Zar. He belongs to the Upper class of Krypton. Their physical makeup and abilities fundamentally differ from ordinary Kryptonians. Even under the red sun of Krypton, they represent the pinnacle of Kryptonian potential, not to mention the incredible power they gain from exposure to a yellow sun. Teleportation and other extraordinary abilities are unique to the super Kryptonians.

Abel Zar, Varion's father in this life, serves as the chief guard officer on Krypton. Unlike the original character Zod, who was a general with no purpose outside of war, Abel's role carries significance even in times of peace. He's the one who captured Zod after his rebellion.

Kayla Zar, Varion's grandfather, currently holds a position within theScience Council.

"So, you can be considered a trailblazer? It's a shame. I, on the other hand, was born a Kryptonian with a scientist as my template. Even though I belong to the super Kryptonians, changing my destiny seems challenging."

Varion finds himself at a loss. Under different circumstances, such an identity might be seen as a prestigious second-generation role, but Krypton's impending doom looms large. He doesn't want to perish here.

"Jor-El should have detected Earth by now and might be preparing a plan to travel there. Should I consider joining him?"

This is a dilemma. Jor-El is Krypton's chief scientist, but his views are unconventional. He believes that the code of life should be integrated into his son, against what their genes dictate. Varion suspects that the Academy of Sciences might have discovered Krypton's impending destruction but chose to hide it, leading Joe El to selfishly attempt the integration.

"Hey Varion, how's your day been?"

An elderly man enters the castle, his eyes lighting up when he spots Varion. This is Varion's father, Abel Zar.

"Father, everything's going well. Why are you back so early today?"

"Hahaha! Varion, my child, no matter how far one roams or who they become, there's always a yearning to return home early. Well, except for your grandfather," Abel says, his grandfather's sour expression clearly not a fond memory.

If I recall correctly, in my own memories, Abel, who has now become a father, still gets scolded by Varion's grandfather from time to time.

"You mentioned Grandpa. Aren't you worried he'll find out?" Abel shrugs. "It's possible, but he's not here. Besides, Varion, you won't betray me, will you?"

"Oh, is that so? Grandpa, did you hear what Abel just said?" Varion glanced behind Abel, pretending that Kayla was standing there.

Abel turned around quickly, knowing he was being teased by his son, but he didn't mind. Ever since his son was born, he had sensed that Varion was different from ordinary people, especially as Varion continued to grow, revealing his extraordinary qualities.

"Varion, my boy, don't cause trouble. How about we keep this as one of our little secrets?" Abel playfully put his arm around Varion's shoulders.

"Well... I've heard there's a type of beast in the wasteland that tastes really good."

Abel's heart skipped a beat. "Alright, I knew you wouldn't let me off that easily, but you can't go out there now. You must understand that the wasteland is filled with dangers you can't handle."

"Of course, Dad."

Varion had a pleasant barbecue with his father. If anyone ever asked Superman if he enjoyed BBQ, he could confidently say the taste was quite good, just a tad less spicy.

"Mousse, has my father left?"

Mousse's voice came from outside the door, "Master, the patriarch has departed. He has some matters to attend to in the capital."

Mousse, the loyal housekeeper of the Zar family, had served the family for years, even before Kayla became a member of the Elder Council. He handled many family matters and held a special fondness for Varion, considering him a favorite and an essential member of the family.

"Alright, I need some rest. Please, no disturbances."

"Of course, sir."

As Mousse left, a young man took his place guarding the door.

Varion had a little secret, something that Kryptonians could endure without any issues for three days and nights. Even on Krypton, this wasn't a problem for their livers.

It wasn't what you might think—it definitely wasn't what people did when they were feeling amorous. That was for crowded rooms and not something for a teenager who hadn't even been born yet, especially not for the future Superman.

"Now, my most significant 'Skill' has to be a secret. The skill enabled Varion to travel through different universes. But the catch is that he has no control of the destination. So it was a risky ordeal"

"I must carefully consider how to use it." Varion sat on his bed with closed eyes, deep in thought.

....

The Code of Life was crucial, an insurmountable barrier. All Kryptonian genes were recorded within it, and this was precisely why Zod in the original storyline coveted it so much.

With the Code of Life, ample energy, and a Genesis Chamber, Kryptonians could be created limitlessly. It was akin to a genetic library, similar to the Human Genome Project on Earth.

The Human Genome Project, proposed in 1985, aimed to determine the nucleotide sequences making up the human chromosome's 3 billion base pairs.

However, the project's completion was only achieved in 2001, illustrating its immense complexity. Analyzing Kryptonian secrets was far more challenging, given their fundamental differences from Earthlings. Kryptonians could absorb radiation and alter their abilities, a capability Earthlings lacked.

Varion recalled a movie called "Doom" that discussed a fascinating concept. Human scientists discovered a Martian species resembling humans, but with striking differences.

These beings possessed 24 pairs of chromosomes, unlike humans who have only 23 pairs. The additional pair granted them immense strength, health, intelligence, and fifty times the rate of cell division compared to humans.

In essence, they could rapidly heal injuries and hardly ever fell ill.
