2 years passed and during this time I learned all sorts of stuff, from geography to biology and even some chemistry.
I just realized how small our kingdom was compared to the big nations on the map.
We were a tiny dot compared to the behemoths like the 4 nations.
Each nation was wielding an immense force that could wipe out all the small kingdoms in a day or less.
Each nation was known for a particular perk.
For example, the holy kingdom was known for the numerous gods that were residing on its grounds.
The red nation was a militaristic force, which means that its military power was a notch above everyone else.
The other 2 are more special.
The sacred grounds were a force that created a nation to host its religion.
The floating dragon was a nation built upon an ancient relic that was able to extend itself and make space to build a kingdom in the clouds.
Our nation was closest to the floating dragon.
If one could fly then they would be able to access the country.
But all that didn't matter that much for now since today was the day I will be taking my first magic classes.
I exited my room and went straight to the class.
I already knew which class was supported to host the lecture since the maid always made sure I memorized the curriculum.
After a 10-minute walk, the class presented itself after a corner.
As I entered the class a weird feeling washed over me.
Like one would feel when watched by its most primal enemy.
I continued walking towards my designated seat as the feeling persisted.
The classroom was half full and students were still coming and seating themselves.
Some were even talking with other people or groups.
As I had limited interaction my options were very few.
I was one of the special cases, where if a magical talent was found in a poorer environment he was to be immediately enrolled into the academy no matter the age.
Looking around I noticed the size of the room was bigger than one would imagine by looking at it from outside.
I marveled at the capabilities and possibilities of what can one do with magic.
The world I used to live in was one of constant work and then some chattering with other people.
All day I was doing physical labor and the rest was resting.
But here, I can discover a wider world, a world full of secrets and wonders.
The chattering in the room was interrupted by the sound of the door opening.
The door opened to welcome an aura that made us all shiver.
In the next second a woman with long, white hair stepped on the podium in the front of the class and presented herself.
"Hello, my name is Luna and I will be your magic teacher."
"Some of you might know but I will say this for everyone who missed or didn't listen,
The only subject you will be taught in the following 4 years will be magic."
"Your maids will take care of teaching you geography, history, and everything else."
Everyone was Paying full attention to the teacher.
No one was talking and even moving was reduced to a minimum.
Seeing that everyone understood and heard her the woman made a gesture with her hand and books appeared in front of every person in the room.
"This book contains all the basics that you need to know before attempting anything related to magic."
The students started filing with the book, some were passionately reading meanwhile some were just skimming through.
I also opened the book and began carefully reading, afraid that I might skip a word or miss a line.
After waiting for 5 minutes for everyone to at least take a peek at the contents the teacher snapped her fingers and silence was re-established in the room.
If I had to say then the snapping noise was like a wet hand slapping you early in the morning.
It felt like awakening to a realization that you forgot your money in the pants you sold.
Her face was devoid of any emotion and her eyes were coldly studying each one of us.
Standing calmly in my seat and looking at other students as small beads of sweat trickled down their skin was a new experience indeed.
She then turned around and with a hand gesture a huge screen appeared in front of everyone.
"Today we will be learning what magic really is."
Everyone got excited since the study of magic was only allowed after passing the age of 18.
This rule forced the parents to restrict any information regarding magic from their kids.
"As you may know magic is something not everyone can use."
While pacing around slowly she began explaining in detail everything we should know about magic.
From its place of origin, which wasn't exactly clear, to its use and method of wielding it.
"The origin of magic is unknown.
Some say that magic is a gift from the heavens while others talk about gods that blessed us with the ability to ascent to their thrones."
"One thing is clear, magic existed for a long, long time.
There exist legends about animals and creatures wielding such powers even before humanity was born."
"Folklore talks about gods that used to roam the earth ages before anything that we know of today existed.
The most accepted story is that, in antiquity, a being landed in what we call today the central plane."
"That being, seeing the battles and bloodthirsty that creatures had when fighting with themselves became sad and decided to create a race that was united and fought for its own good and wellbeing."
Listening to the story reminded me of something similar I read in a book.
It started like this: A deity descended upon the land, and seeing its chaos and evilness it decided to purge everything and start anew.
An ocean of pain rained upon everything and everyone and then all became nothing.
Then, from nothing it made Earth, and from Earth it made everything.
The humans came and saw that being creating life all around them.
Seeing its mightiness they called it god.
Rehearing this story made me ask some questions.
For example: Who was the being? Where did it come from? If the being gave birth to everything then who gave birth to it?
