Vanessa laid on her back, stunned by the presence of others in the room as opposed to the slamming of her back against the debris-filled ground.
"It's the end for me," Vanessa thought as she stared at the ceiling, "I don't want to run around like a mouse in a kitty cage. And with no gun, this is boring. I need to kill people. Not run from them".
"Well, we found Vanessa," Carter was crouched a few feet from a window, "Now we need the rest of the team to contact us".
Kiki laid on the ground with her cheek pressed against her buttstock and her rifle aimed at the door, "Whatever".
Vanessa glanced at her before looking at Carter, "What's going on"?
"Shit's a mess," he smirked, "Nobody listens! I'm lost! Kiki is internal! Mike is being hunted down! Logan is having a blast! So now we're waiting on an explosion"!
"We should go home," Vanessa shrugged, "This is nonsense and we need more stuff to fight them. We need a real military".
"Vanessa," Carter stared blatantly at her, "That is the smartest idea I've heard in months," he smirked, "We're only going to make a few grand at best from this. So let's go home".
"Actually," Kiki flipped her hair, "I wanted to do a photoshoot to start my modeling career".
Carter chuckled, "Good luck if we decide to go home. I'll bring my girlfriend over to see her as well".
Kiki rolled her eyes way, "You know what, y'all are a mess. Not me. That's why I'm going internal here".
Vanessa relaxed, "So what are we waiting for again"?
Carter smiled, "An explosion of some kind".
"I hear many explosions," Vanessa rolled to her stomach.
"Those are the grenades the Nazis use," Carter licked his lips, "We're waiting on something bigger with gunfire after it".
Vanessa waved her hands to curl them under her head, "Aaaall cars will explode and then we will have as you call it, the fourth of July".
"Okaay," Carter chuckled.
"Then we go home," Vanessa closed her eyes.
Kiki stared back at Carter, "She's always like that".
He looked out the window, "No wonder you all like her".
An explosion was heard. A wave of pressure roared through like thunder. Seconds later, after the city felt still with flames still scurrying, gunshots were fired in a pattern not too far away.
"Woo! Woo!" Vanessa kept her eyes closed and a smile on, "Will there be more?
Carter stood, "No. That was a message. Mike or Logan found a spot for us to regroup at. We need to hurry up and move out to find them".
"No!" Kiki grunted, "Let's take our time. I don't feel like doing anything anymore".
"I want more explosions," Vanessa spoke into the ground, "Just kill them all for me".
A series of bombs hailed down, leaving Carter confused about what was happening. After multiple waves of explosions rang through their ears, there were subsequent cars exploding afterward.
"Jesus!" Carter got low again, "They really signaled us to run through that? What are they trying to do, blow us up?
"Well," Kiki shrugged, "Neither Logan nor Mike cares too much about safety, much less others".
Carter threw up a hand, "Yeah, but that's common sense. We could've easily been wherever that was... Unless maybe that wasn't them that did that".
"You lied," cried Vanessa, "We should stay here and let them find us".
Upon hearing gunshots in a pattern again, Carter looked up, "God, we can't come to them if they're blowing shit up like that," he looked across the room, "I'm about to put Vanessa in charge and call it a day".
"Good," she was nearly asleep, "Then we will stay here until it's over. And if it's not, we go home".
Carter smirked, "Alright, Vanessa, you're my one man. Kiki is my third. We're going through this hallway and will figure it out as we go because I have no clue on where exactly to go".
Vanessa rose up, "So we should go back to this really nice restaurant where I met this really nice man named-".
"No!" Carter spoke sternly, "We'll stop making jokes and head out".
Vanessa waited near the door for Carter and Kiki to stack behind her. Once he nudged her thigh, she ran out into the hallway and burst out of the building.
