Chapter 42 - Xiao Ning'Er vs Nie Li

Xiao Ning'Er was standing in the halls. In front of her was the big arena. She could feel her heart racing. She was confident she could win against Ziyun and Du Ze. But, she wasn't sure she could win against Nie Li.

She gazed towards where Tatsuya and Miyuki were sitting. She wanted to see Tatsuya watch her fight. She couldn't see him. She was sure he was watching her.

Suddenly she felt a presence standing behind her. She hastily turned around only to see Tatsuya standing behind her.

"Tatsuya!!" a smile appeared on her face.

Tatsuya caressed her hairs, "are you ready?"

Ning'Er straightened her body, "Yeah!!"

Tatsuya nodded, "Don't hold back, go win!"

"I will!!"

Ning'Er walked towards the arena. Looking at her, Tatsuya went back to his seat.

When Tatsuya got back to his seat, Miyuki softly wrapped her hands around his, putting her head on his shoulder, "Was there a need to do that?"

Tatsuya knew Miyuki was not happy about his decision, "It was necessary to bring them out."

Miyuki closed her eyes, "She will get hurt."

Tatsuya gazed at Xiao Ning'Er, "I will heal her."

Miyuki's grip tightened around his hand, "Tatsuya-sama."

Nie Li stepped into the arena with a confident smile.

Cheers filled the arena as soon as he entered. He was one of the favorites since the Heavenly Marks Family was very weak. He was no different than commoners.

"Nie Li!!!!"

"Nie Li!!!!!"

"Go, boy!!!"

When Xiao Ning'Er entered the cheers were even louder.

Nie Li might be popular but Xiao Ning'Er's beauty and overwhelming strength, which she used to win every match in one hit, made her even more popular.

Xiao Ning'Er looked at Nie Li, "Nie Li, I will win this match."

Nie Li rubbed the hairs at the back of his head smiling, "Haha... We'll see."

'Start'

With the signal, Ning'Er attacked first. She had an advantage in battles since she didn't need the time to merge with the demon spirit to attack.

'Multiple wind blades'

Multiple crescent-shaped blades of winds filled the air moving towards Nie Li.

Nie Li's eye shrank seeing that, he hastily merged with the fanged panda. The defense of his fanged panda was good enough to defend against these attacks. But, before he could counterattack, streaks of lightning came towards him.

He punched towards the lightning with a thunder strike. It was his fanged panda's move that gave him incredible strength. The streaks of lightning broke when they hit Nie Li's punch.

Although for others, his fanged panda was trash spirit. It's not the starting level that's important, it's the growth rate. People in Glory City didn't understand that. His Fanged Panda was mutated it was a fighter type demon spirit with overwhelming strength and speed.

Even so, he felt it was lacking in front of Xiao Ning'Er's spirit. He was sure if it wasn't for his experience from past life he wouldn't survive even for a second.

'Tornado wall' Xiao Ning'Er created a small tornado around Nie Li blocking him, she started to gather energy to merge with garuda, in that instance two balls of energy pierced through the tornado wall and moved towards Xiao Ning'Er.

Xiao Ning'Er's eyes widened seeing them. Seeing the attack coming closer she steeled herself. Rather, than dodging and getting attacked by aftershock she decided to risk it. Either she will merge with Garuda or would be knocked out.

As soon as the Yin Yang Blast hit the wind wall protecting Xiao Ning'Er it detonated. A white light covered the whole arena.

"Noooooo...."

"Miss Ning'Er!!!!!!"

"Damn you...Nie Li!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Voices filled with sadness filled the whole arena.

"Fuck...she is ok!!!!!!"

"Wow... She is so..."

"Ning'Er!!!!!"

"Fuck Yeah!!!!!!! kill him!!!!!!!!!"

When the bright light disappeared, all that people saw what a birdlike creature. Her skin darkened and brown feathers around her head and collar with longer red-tipped plumes at the back. There was a silver headgear that covered the upper half of her face and gave her the appearance of a bird's beak. Her body was covered with numerous sets of ornamental wings, which were not feathered, and appear for decoration rather than for flight. Those wings protected her body from the blast.

When her ornamentals wings unfurled, a storm raged in the whole arena.

Ye Mo's eyes flashed seeing this, "Tell them to strengthen the barrier a few more times."

Ye Xiu stood up, "I will go help them."

Yu Yan looked amazed after seeing Garuda. She knew Ning'Er's demon spirit was special but, this overwhelming atmosphere that it was radiating. This was more than just special, "What kind of demon spirit is that."

Miyuki smiled, "That is a primal god spirit."

Yu Yan knit her brows, "God Spirit?" Not anything could be called god spirit.

She looked towards her and Tatsuya, "Tell me, are you descendants of a Spiritual God?"

Tatsuya shook his head, "No."

Yu Yan looked at him as if expecting him to explain more, but seeing him not saying anything made a defeated expression.

Both of them started exchanging hit. Xiao Ning'Er rained down thunder and lightning from the sky. Tornadoes starting rising from the earth.

Nie Li started blasting away Yin Yang Blasts while punching away the lightning.

Both of them didn't want to turn this into a battle of endurance. They backed off.

Xiao Ning'Er and Nie Li stared at each other. Both of them were looking for an opening.

Xiao Ning'Er decided to use her trump card.

Two tornadoes started forming in her hand, looking at this Nie Li narrowed his eyes. He could feel the power in them. He started gathering power of law to use Yin Yang Blast.

He knew without using the law of light and darkness he wouldn't be able to take the attack. The strength she was collecting was overwhelming.

Xiao Ning'Er gathered her hands at the top of her head combining the tornadoes in both hands. Nie Li's mouth started to inflate. He shot two white and black balls radiating with the power of laws.

Xiao Ning'Er also threw an enormous tornado towards those white and black balls.

The pressure from both attacks had already reached the legend level.

Tatsuya glanced towards Ye Mo who was floating above the barrier strengthing it.

Few people in Glory City could stop a clash of this level. Other than Ye Mo only Yu Yan would have been able to strengthen the barrier.

When two attacks collided together they covered the whole arena with light. If not for the barrier it would have reached the audience even then they could still feel the power of attacks.

When the blast finally cleared Xiao Ning'Er was leaning on the floor unmerged with Garuda. At the last moments, Nie Li used the Gravity field to lessen the power of Xiao Ning'Er's attack.

Even so, Nie Li wasn't much better. He also unmerged with his fanged panda. Both of them were hurt badly, bleeding from all over.

Both of them still hadn't given up. Both of them were out of power, Ning'Er wanted to walk over. She wanted to attack but, she couldn't move. She felt like she was suffocating. She tried to gather strength but, she fell on her knees.

Nie Li wasn't much better than her. The only reason he was standing was because of willpower.

Suddenly Ye Mo appeared between them, rubbing his beard he said, "This Match is over!"

He didn't want to let them take the risk any further. Their attack power had already reached the legend level. Both of them were the future of Glory City. Nie Li's attack even had law energy mixed in it. Two of them at that, then there was Ning'Er her demon spirit was too strong. He had never seen such a strong demon spirit. Let alone saw that she had reached Black Gold. If it wasn't for the Law Energy in Nie Li's attack then this wouldn't have been a draw.

Xiao Ning'Er who heard that had an unwilling look in her eyes. She tried to move but, she fell. Just then a hand caught her.

Tatsuya appeared by her side and picked her in a princess hug. Xiao Ning'Er closer her eyes and let her head lean on his chest, "Tatsuya," She muttered.

Tatsuya nodded towards Ye Mo and Nie Li then walked back inside with Ning'Er in his arms under the cheers of the crowd.

When they stepped in the shade of the halls Tatsuya said, "You did well."

She whimpered softly, "I didn't win."

Tatsuya kissed her forehead, "Don't be silly, you don't know who did you tie with. This was your win. You should rest, you deserve it."

When Tatsuya was walking up the stairs, he could feel she fell asleep.

He used regrowth to heal all her injuries. He could feel all the pain she went through hundreds of times over. Even so, he didn't flinch. Over these years, he had already gotten used to the pain. Although before he got used to it, it broke his sealed psyche. Which until now was posing a problem, especially since his sealed emotions got released.

While walking, blue light covered them, and they disappeared.

After Tatsuya left with Ning'Er cheers continued.

Nie Li stood up with Ye Mo's help. He was eating pills to treat his injuries. He didn't think his toughest fight of this life would be against Xiao Ning'Er.

His next fight was against Ziyun but, in the shape he was. It wasn't possible to fight.

Ye Mo looked at the scene. Normally, Nie Li not being able to fight would mean his forfeit. But, on the other side was his granddaughter. He couldn't just give her the win, otherwise, rumors might start. He could only do the next best thing that is all three of them Nie Li, Ziyun, Xiao Ning'er tied for first place and would get the same reward.

Somewhere near the arena,

A group of people was standing looking towards the arena. The person at the center said, "They are too strong. Good that you called me here, we will take one of them."

They were looking at a man hugging a ginger-haired girl walking out of the arena walking on the empty streets.
