The Spirit Stat

Right when Meng Tian opened his eyes, he found that everyone from his class surrounded him and Teacher Tiao was holding a water bottle. Fatty Li was also looking at him with concern. He understood that he fainted but he was more happy to discover another method to increase his body Stats. 'Apart from using Energy Points, if I can exert a force greater than what my body can endure, it will have a positive effect on increasing one or the other Stats.'

Just when he thought of getting up, he felt like his body had become too heavy. 'Looks like this is a side effect for going beyond my limits. Huh... I hope all of these people leave quickly.' Fatty Li helped him get up and Meng Tian apologized for disturbing everyone's practice. He excused himself and slowly walked to the Nurse's office by himself. He passed by the canteen, bought an energy bar from the vending machine and ate it in a single gulp.

Meng Tian was stunned by the increase in Energy Points because he assumed that he needs to have a sizeable amount of food before acquiring a single point. 'Looks like my assumption was right. Consuming food with high density of calories is a much better way to gain Energy Points. I can eat less but get more points.'

He decided to use up this Energy Point on his Strength, to see what would happen, as this was the first time he added points to anything other than Intelligence. As soon as he decided, the Energy Point vanished from his Status, going back to zero. He then felt an energy rushing to all his sore body parts and gently healing him. He even felt his muscles becoming a little bit denser. He was ecstatic and immediately bought another ten energy bars and filled his pockets. He could have bought more but he finished his allowance.

Meng Tian walked to the Nurse's office and asked to lie down for sometime. The school nurse was accustomed to having students there because of the long exercise hours. Most students don't need to rest but some with less stamina do. There were already two other students in the resting area. So, Meng Tian found a corner bed and started eating all of his energy bars. He was delighted by the increase in his Energy Points which stopped increasing after he finished eating.

Now he lied down on the bed, closed his eyes and started to add these points to his Stats. 'I will add one point to each of the Stats to see their effects first. Hmm.. Speed, I choose you..' Just like before, he felt a cooling sensation all over his body but this time he felt his body could burst with more power if there is a need. That burst of power can increase in his movement speed or punch speed or dodging speed, etc.

He then added another point to Agility, because last time it increased by itself. So, he tried to understand the feeling by adding points. As his Agility increased by 0.1 and reached 0.6, he felt a corresponding increase in the flexibility of his muscles. 'Hmm... I have to check my reflexes later on to see how things have changed.'

Meng Tian finally looked at the Spirit stat. Honestly, he had no idea what this was supposed to represent. But, he was a bit concerned about what would happen if he added points to it. That's why he did not touch it till now. 'No point in thinking too much. Spirit... Let me see what you are...' He pushed himself to add a point to his Spirit, but did not feel any changes to his body or his mind.

He was confused as to what had happened, but suddenly felt himself losing consciousness. Meng Tian opened his eyes and saw a dark space in front of him. It stretched for as far as his eyes could see. There was a small blue color flame ball a little distance away from him in this dark space, flickering with increasing intensity. But suddenly it burst apart with a blinding light and in its place was a mysterious blue fog. Meng Tian continued to look but suddenly felt an attractive force pulling him towards the blue fog. He couldn't resist at all and when his body touched the blue fog, it rushed into him and he felt a tremendous amount of pain breaking his body apart. He screamed like hell but couldn't extricate himself from this situation. It felt like a very long time when he finally came back to his senses.

He was surprised to notice that a huge blue screen was now floating in front of him in the dark space. He looked at himself and found himself looking a blue colored version of him. "Is this my Soul? Then what is this place... My Inner World?... What was that blue fire ball from before?... Is this how an Energy Point addition to the Spirit Stat feels like?..."

He looked around and found nothing else. He felt something strange, a kind of energy flowing through him and continuously nourishing his Soul body. "This feels weird and pleasant at the same time. But that pain was just unbearable. My Status screen didn't change much though."

Left with seven more Energy Points, Meng Tian decided to use three of them to get his Intelligence to 1.0. He felt like his brain started to function with much more vigor and all of his memories and knowledge had been consolidated. He was sure that he would never forget anything even after seeing or hearing it once. He was hooked to this feeling and tried to add one more point to Intelligence but it didn't increase. He was not bothered as this was already much better than he ever expected. He used another three Energy Points with two of them on Speed and one on Agility bringing all the three Stats- Strength, Speed and Agility to 0.7. He didn't think much about the point distribution as he was sure that 1.0 seemed to be a limit of some kind. The remaining point was left out for emergency purposes.

Meng Tian did try to add points to his Experiences but it didn't work. He felt pity but things can change in the future. Now that Meng Tian was finished adding the points to his Stats, he willed himself to wake up.

The School Nurse, Chun Yinghua, was a beauty to admire and even many of the male Teachers tried to woo her. But she never entertained any of them. Nurse Chun treated the students very well and kept a close check on those who came to the school infirmary. When she saw Meng Tian first walk in to her office to ask for permission to sleep, she looked at his haggard face and nodded slightly. But about an hour later, when she came to wake him up, Meng Tian was completely soaked in sweat and his forehead was tightly furrowed. It seemed that he was having a vary bad nightmare. She tried to wake him up but was unsuccessful. She immediately checked his pulse and after confirming that there was nothing abnormal, she just sat beside him and waited for him to wake up.

Ten minutes passed but Meng Tian did not wake up. Nurse Chun went ahead to see if there are any other indicators of something strange on his face. She moved closer to his face for observation when suddenly Meng Tian opened his eyes. Nurse Chun was usually quite composed but now that her face was so close to a student, she couldn't help to move away quickly. She instantly regretted what she had done as the situation did look quite ambiguous.

When Meng Tian opened his eyes, his vision was filled with the beautiful face of Nurse Chun who was looking at him very closely with concern. He was startled at first but immediately kept himself in check. There was no change of expression on his face. His control over his self seemed to have increased dramatically. He blinked his eyes a few times and slowly asked, "Nurse Chun, Is there any thing on my face?"
