Chapter 27 Run
After John put the unconscious Elena on the ground, he covered her body and wound with a jacket that he had in his storage ring and inspected his left arm afterwards which was still mangled but the good thing was that it stopped bleeding. He did not have any plastic bottles filled with blood to help himself recover faster and was also in a weakened state after giving Elena most of his blood. "Damn my arm is hurting like shit right now". John winced in pain every time he makes a move and did not have enough energy to go hunting.
He then looked at the bear's corpse that was laying in the cave and had an idea "why don't I just eat this thing and drink its blood" he thought. John struggled a little to get his body off the ground and walked slowly to the bear's corpse. When he came close to the bear, he used his fixed blade knife and began to cut open the bear thick hide and started to eat its flesh. The strange thing is that this raw meat did not taste awful and was actually the opposite, it tasted really delicious to John and he began to devour the bear's flesh and also drank the blood that was leaking out like a person that has not eaten in weeks.
What John did not notice is that his broken and mangled arm started to heal itself, bones started to grow out and snap slowly into place, next, the bite wounds began to close and filled with flesh and skin as the final touch.
He then checked up on Elena for a moment to see if everything is alright, he went to the river, filled one bottle with water and went back to the cave. When he got to her, he poured some of the water over her wounds and use cloth from his cloths that a cut to clean it. Elena was still unconscious and did not have any reaction when John cleaned and covered her wound. John then took a last look at Elena before he picked up the primitive shovel that he made and exited the cave.
John went out into the woods; he looked for a perfect spot to make a booby trap for Jones. To increase his success rate, he knew it would be on an animal trail and where he could easily run without any hindrances. However, John knew he cannot wait for Jones to come and fall by himself, it would take too long, he has to let the man chase him and make him fall into the pit, which will give him the chance to run to the castle location, in John's mind, this was the only way because he did not know when Elena would die.
First, John went and got a lot of long sticks, some were long and thin, some were thick and short. He then used his fixed blade knife to remove the bark from the sticks until all the sticks was nice and smooth. Next, John then used his knife to carve sharp points at the end of each stick, he did not do a great job as it was his first time using a knife to do these kinds of work, but it was good enough to get the job done.
John then put all of the sticks he carved in a spot he knew where to find, as he was walking through the forest, he saw a medium size tree log and stared at it for a few seconds "I think I can make use of this log". John then dragged the log to the spot where he was going to dig a hole, his plan was to put the log in front of the trap hole and use it to jump over the trap when Jones is chasing him, further, when Jones run over the log, he will not expect the trap hole, making Jones fall into the trap. Although the plan sounds good, he knew it will not be enough to hold the werewolf for long and so he needed to add something more.
While John was digging a hole with his primitive shovel and using his hands to scoop the sand out of the hole, he got an idea. John then continued to dig the hole until it that was 7 feet deep, he then planted the sharpen sticks into the ground. John knew he needed to add something extra and he dragged with great difficulty a large rock next to the hole. Afterward, John needed to camouflage the hole, so he got some more long thin sticks that he added together with some thin cloth and placed a few of it on top of the hole and covered it with fallen dead leaves and large branches. John learned how to make this trap from the many movies and videos he watched on the internet and now was the right time to make use of that knowledge.
John then went back to the cave to check up on Elena and saw that she was again losing colour, he then picked her unconscious body up and went to the spot where he made the trap. He put her down a few meters away, he wanted to make a quick escape as soon as the man fell into the trap. He then climbed the tallest tree that he could find in order to see where the castle is located, he looked for a few seconds until he saw a huge castle sitting on top of a mountain "there it is".
John then waited until the day got a little darker, he didn't want the man to see the trap, he thought of a way to get the man's attention, the only thing he can think of is to make a fire, the smoke will attract the werewolf to his location. He then went a bit far away in the forest and used his remaining fire elemental stone to light a tree on fire.
Thick smoke began to rise from the tree and Jones who were busy eating on a dead rabbit saw the smoke from where he was standing. "I see you" Jones said as he took one more bite of the rabbit and started running to the thick smoke's location. John who waited for a 45 min and set more trees on fire as he thought that one tree was not enough, he then retrieved the strength and speed potion from his storage ring and he waited a little longer until he heard someone's voice "So you decided to reveal yourself kid or are you expecting someone to come and save you, by the time anyone gets here, you will already be dead and I will be long gone" Jones said this as he came out behind a tree.
"I am not afraid of you anymore" John then drank the two potions that he held in his hands and he immediately felt how his body became temporary stronger. He then beckoned Jones to come in which Jones happily obliged but then John turned around and started running away, Jones was stunned "does this kid think this is a joke" Jones then grinned "fine, I like the chase" he then started chasing after John.
While John was running to the location where he set the trap, he zig-zag around the trees, he was running so fast that he could not believe that achieving this speed was possible, John also ran through some of the trees that were thin, when John looked back, Jones was on his tail "Fuck, he is gonna get me" he thought.
Jones who was busy catching up to John was at arms distance, however, John's left eye turned red and his speed exploded, this shocked Jones for a min and he also picked up pace. John saw the log and he knew that behind the log is the trap, all he has to do is jump over the trap, further, the speed he was running at the moment would be more than enough to propel him over the trap. He looked back and Jones was catching up again but John was confident that he would make it. John then pushed everything into his legs to run even faster and just as he was about to reach the log, he ran up to something that felt like a brick wall.
*Thud*
John couldn't believe that Jones was standing before him "No, he was just behind me a few minutes ago, how did he get passed me" John thought. He then stood up and for an instant he looked pass Jones and notice that they were only a few steps away from the trap.
"Enough with the games" Jones came close and slashed John across the face with his sharp claws. Blood splattered everywhere and deep gashes could be seen on his face. Jones then kicked John in the stomach, making him cough blood, while John was looking for his breath, Jones walked ever closer, crunch sound could be heard as Jones stepped on the dried branches on the ground.
"Wait, hold up" John said while flashing his palm to Jones. Jones then stopped and looked at John who was getting to his feet. "Before you kill me, tell me your name"
"My name is Jones kid, but it doesn't matter, since you going to die, I'll make this quick"
"wait" Jones stopped "what kid"
"Did you know that I am the wind master" John said this while secretly retrieving the wind elemental stone from his storage ring.
Jones became angry "Die!!!" he was about to dash forwards when he felt a strong wind coming towards him.
"John's Almighty Wind Push!!!" John unleashed a strong gust of wind out of his palm, blowing Jones far back until he reached and tripped backwards over the log. Jones who thought he was about to hit the ground fell deep into the hole filled with sharp pointed sticks which penetrated deep into his skin.
"Aaaaah" Jones screamed, there was several sharp sticks that pierced his back, neck and legs. John waited for this opportunity, he then ran to where the big rock was and started to push it, when Jones looked up, he saw John standing above him, Jones grids his teeth "You are dead!".
John raised his middle finger at Jones "pussy", John then pushed the large rock into the hole where Jones was laying. John then stood there for a few seconds "is he dead?"
"You fucking cunt!!" Jones screamed and were still alive under the large rock.
"Time to go", John then ran to the spot where he laid down Elena's unconscious body, he picked her up and started running in the direction that led to the Crimson castle. As John was running with the unconscious Elena in his arms, some of the blood that was leaking out his face fell on Elena, John looked at her while he was dashing through the trees "don't worry Elena, we are almost there". John ran for a long time and the potion had already faded, he stopped for a moment to catch his breath, his legs were hurting from the pain "damn I have to thank aunt Reina for training me, I would have never survived without her harsh training" John thought to himself.
Just when John wanted to move, he felt a hand grabbing him by the back "where are you going boy" John had an expression of terror on his face, when he turned his head, Jones already came through with a punch that broke his nose instantly. John was blown back from the punch and Elena fell out of his arms, Jones then walked closer to John who was still on the ground "I have to congratulate you for surviving this long, I didn't want to kill you kid but I have no choice"
Jones then lift John up by the neck and was about pierced him through the heart, John closed his eyes "Goodbye mom, goodbye dad and Goodbye Elena". After a few seconds, nothing happened, he then slowly opened his eyes and saw he was standing next to the unconscious Elena but when he turned his head, he also saw another person standing next to him. The person John was looking at also turned his head to look at him "Who, um who are you Mr.?"
"I'm Caden".
