Chapter 27

Why does taking down a mass-murdering organisation have to be so arduous...?

Me and Elijah kept racing until the jet was directly in front of us. We turned around to see if the group of deranged people accompanied us. Luckily, we saw none of them except Hazel and Aanisah speeding towards us.

"GET IN NOW!" They ordered.

We locked the door and started to get a second to breathe. That was one of the most traumatic moments of my life.

Alex earned first place.

Nothing was worse than murdering Alex and then seeing his ghost taunting me for the rest of eternity. As soon as everyone was able to relax again, we shared our stories. Hazel went first and told us how she was able to expand her abilities in her moment of need.

"Wait, you got a new ability as well?" I asked Hazel.

"Yeah, when we and Aanisah were being chased I felt this sort of sensation being built up inside of me so when all the guards were around us and I knew I had no other choice I used it to my advantage. Suddenly I was able to make the earth my weapon. What about you?" She explained. That was refreshing to hear.

"Me and Elijah went into this area where people were man-eaters! They surrounded me and could feel my claustrophobia increasing. It felt like I couldn't breathe and my body couldn't handle all these emotions so I just let it all out and everyone collapsed on the floor with bloodshed everywhere" I responded.

Suddenly Layla came from the front of the cockpit and stared at all of us.

"Guys we need to fight back now" She declared.

"Wait, I got this case! I think that it's important to ALIRON and they need it!" Hazel mentioned.

Hazel placed the case on one of the marble tables and we all went around her as she opened it.

With a click and hiss the case slowly opened revealing little blue tubes placed inside in neat order with mist arising everywhere.

Before anyone said anything Layla went behind the jet and after a few minutes brought a black duffel bag. She placed the bag on the table and opened it up and got the Apex Alpha serum out. She compared the two tubes together and they were relatively similar.

"Oh no no no!" Layla screamed. She started smashing things to the ground and punching the wall which left a lot of dents.

"The serums lookalike but what is this new blue one?" Aanisah questioned.

"Well, the Apex Alpha serum was created to produce hunters so maybe this has the traits of a hunter but has more extended abilities or something?" Hazel added.

Then it clicked in my head.

When we went into the area where the people were man-eaters Elijah knew straight away something was suspicious. The people desired to eat people but were surprisingly powerful and has some abilities of the Apex Alphas.

I walked by the window to inspect the surrounding area.

"Guys I know exactly what that serum is for," I suggested solemnly.

"Jamie what is it for?! What is it?" Elijah commanded.

I turned away from the window to face Elijah and others and spoke, the tone of my voice much softer and quite saddened.

"Remember when we collected all those letters from Dr Summers? Well, he stated that ALIRON had phases on how to decrease the population and save humanity from it becoming catastrophic! He declared that for the Apex Alphas they first put created test subjects to make sure that it was valid" I said.

"So?" Everyone urged.

"Well, I think that this is a new serum that's like the Apex Alphas but gives hunters no emotions or even any sense of humanity!" I continued.

"Jamie, how do you know this?" Layla ordered.

I paced the room back and forth, in my mind, knowing that ALIRON had won whatever they wanted to accomplish.

"JAMIE HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS?!" Layla yelled, clearly troubled by the abrupt silence.

"Because I think that Elijah and I had already encountered their first test subjects, I think that the serum has succeeded in creating the new group of hunters."...
