Travis didn't hesitate to use the Skill. Suddenly his vision warped, the movements of things were altered slightly. Using his leg Travis pushed himself sideways. Dodging an incoming fist from Muryl. He knew that was going to happen, as if he had already seen it. Muryl seemed to notice the change as well, for he eyed Travis suspiciously.
Cracking a knuckle Muryl taunted, "So you got yourself another card up your sleeve. Sadly I don't think it can match my might."
Muryl charged forward, "Enough fooling around!"
Travis sidestepped a blow and swiftly delivered a shallow cut to Muryl's side. He then ducked, dodging Muryl's retaliation.
He could see it, the moves Muryl was making. It was incredibly obvious, making the Demon's attacks look like it was child's play.
It wasn't as simple as seeing into the future, rather he was able to see Muryl's intentions. From the slight adjustment in feet placement, to every blow he threw.
Travis jumped over a sweep attack and pointed Lumen forward. A bright white light shot forward and pierced through the chest of Muryl.
[Piercing Light]!
"Arghh!"
Muryl clutched his wound, "You brat! You've done it now!"
A magic energy surrounded Muryl's fists. As it faded it revealed a pair of gauntlets, fiery red and in the shape of a dragon's head. Swinging a punch through the air Muryl caused a wave of flames to shoot forth. Not confident in blocking such a strong attack with his mediocre mana control, Travis instead teleported onto the ground.
Expecting this reaction, Muryl was in front of Travis. Raising his arms he delivered a flurry of blows, leaving afterimages with the incredible speed. Travis responded in kind, dodging several while doing his best to deflect the ones he couldn't. A shower of sparks covered the courtyard as the two moved at a blurring speed.
Muryl intensified his punches, "A mere Second Stage! You cannot compare to my might!"
[Averoth's Lust for Battle] was beginning to come into effect. It wasn't considered a Berserk Skill, so the effects were not reduced in the slightest!
Muryl noticed this as well, 'He's getting stronger?!'
Not wanting to carry on further Muryl stomped the ground, shaking the entire manor. The ground began to split from the force. Travis jumped into the air to prevent a temporary loss in footing.
Laughing, Muryl shouted, "You're so predictable!"
Waves of flame shot forward, aiming to envelop Travis. Raising his hand Travis retaliated by using [Depth's Beam] along with Abe turning into a mist.
The beam failed to make the flames pause. Travis quickly canceled his Skill and returned Abe from his mist form.
Narrowing his eyes he activated a long and almost lost Skill!
[Averoth's Spirit]!
The handsome figure appeared and waved his hand, extinguishing the flame like it was a fly.
Grinning he spoke, "One."
Muryl's eyes nearly popped out of his skull. The mysterious figure moved faster than he could see! The Demon suddenly found a fist in his stomach, stunning him.
"Two."
Averoth removed his fist and took a step back. With a turn he executed a spinning kick, his foot making solid contact with the Demon's jaw.
Crashing into the wall of his very own manor, Muryl spat out a bit of blood. Dusting off his palms Averoth spoke, "Three."
With that, the legendary figure slowly vanished.
Travis clenched his swords, ready to fight! Muryl stood up and shook the dust off of him. Fury boiled within him, to think he would be humiliated by some Second Stage! A pain suddenly blossomed into Travis' eyes. His vision returning to normal. His heart skipped a beat, to think the effects would be this short!
[Truth Threefold: Revealing] had ended! Removing the one thing that gave him an advantage!
He couldn't see it this time, when Muryl's fist made contact with his face. The blow made his body crumple. The force sent him spinning into the partly destroyed manor.
'What was I thinking?'
Travis bounced off the wall, somehow not breaking it this time. Collapsing onto the floor he struggled to stand. Blood flowed freely onto the floor.
Muryl cackled, "I see! It looks like your card ran out!"
His body felt sluggish, the previous blow sent his HP into critical. He couldn't stand!
Thought floated around in his head, 'I got complacent, a Second Stage beating a Third Stage? How could I be such a moron?!'
Muryl spread out his arms, "What's wrong? Bit off more than you could chew? What did you think was going to happen?"
Approaching Travis' side Muryl delivered a swift kick. Merely to toy with Travis, for it barely did any damage.
Crouching next to him Muryl taunted, "You were so confident! So sure of yourself! Boldly walking into my territory and incapacitating my men."
Muryl stepped onto Travis' back, "Yet here you are! Lying underneath my foot, bloody and broken!"
Picking up Travis by the head Muryl laughed, "Khehahaha! To think I was so pressed about you! Now, I can spare your life. Think about it! A powerful Second Stage as yourself is too good to waste by killing you! Join me! All you have to do is tell me who sent you!"
Travis coughed the blood stuck in his throat, "That's funny."
"Khehahaha! It seems you're just a thorn in my side until the end then! Now die!"
Muryl tossed Travis into the air and prepared to deliver a final powerful blow.
As Travis fell he felt dispirited. Was the gap really just too large?
His eyes widened suddenly, for he spotted something incredibly familiar.
A crooked black square appeared, and a figure walked out. They kicked Muryl away and caught Travis, "To think you would fall."
Travis laughed faintly, "Sorry Dimitrin. . ."
Muryl grit his teeth, "One after another! Who are you?!"
"Consider me a messenger."
"What?!"
"This one is a Baron of the Everlasting Abyss, a direct underling of Duke Flinnder. I ask that you let this slide."
"Khehahaha! As if I care about the Abyss's politics! This brat infiltrated my territory! I won't rest until his head is my treasure!"
"We will make sure you are amply compensated. I ask that you show some respect to the Duke."
"Perhaps I need to collect two heads then!"
Dimitrin stared at Muryl, "Do not push it. This is all out of respect from Lord Flinnder."
"See if I care!"
Muryl charged forward and delivered a straight punch. Dimitrin slid sideways, rotating their body to dodge. Additionally they placed their open hand on Muryl's wrist. With a swift kick to Muryl's back knee Dimitrin quickly locked the Demon's arm joints and flipped him onto the ground.
Letting go of Muryl, Dimitrin spoke, "Any further action of this would be considered an insult to Lord Flinnder. I suggest you accept our compensation."
Flames were shot towards Dimitrin. Suddenly a glowing shield appeared in front of them, blocking the flames.
With a sigh Dimitrin tossed Travis into the crooked black square. Rolling their shoulders Dimitrin spoke, "You have insulted Lord Flinnder. I cannot let such actions go unpunished. However, due to what we owe you I shall give you a final choice. I implore that you choose wisely."
Muryl couldn't believe his eyes. Hundreds, if not thousands of glowing weapons hovered in the air. Each giving off a deadly aura.
Dimitrin spoke, "Which weapon would you like me to use?"
Muryl grinned, "I seem to have grown soft. Letting some random nobodies come into my territory and not be punished. It seems I need to take the head of a Duke as well. So be it, once I become the Demon Lord I would like to see some Abyss small fry deal with me!"
Dimitrin gripped their hands into a fist, "You have crossed the final line, threatening Lord Flinnder. I revoke your final decision, and for such atrocities."
The weapons vanished, leaving only a pair of nunchucks in Dimitrin's hand, "I shall claim your life."
