Uncle Nixon dragged Dad, along with Kaiden and Kain, off to California. It seems he had some wedding to perform. That didn’t sit well with Ma, not with everything going on. To ease her mind, we stayed with my grandparents. Plus, Dad felt better we were with family than alone in the house. With Nana and Grampa having enough room, we could have our bedrooms.

I was downstairs helping Nana when she had me get Ma. I walked upstairs to her room. I heard sniffing and saw her sitting on the edge of the bed. I walked in. /"Ma?/"

She turned to me and wiped her face.

/"Are you okay?/"

/"Ah, yeah. I was missing your dad a bit./"

/"He’s coming home in a few days./"
