Chapter 54 The Simple World

As sunshine peaked across the hotel room, Asnee opened his eyes and found himself in bed alone. No doubt he already knew that Santichai had left him. He sat up and stared at the old clock ticking on the wall. He reached for his phone and dialed Decha's number. After a long time, Decha finally picked up Asnee's phone call.

Decha said, "Why did you call me when we're already cutting our friendship?"

Asnee said, "Frank, I'm not in the mood."

Decha said, "You called me because Ai Chai left, right?"

Asnee asked, "How did you know that?"

"I dropped him off at his boyfriend's place," Decha said.

Asnee sat up straight. "Frank, please tell me where he lives."

Decha said, "Ai Nee, I told you before, I can't. I promise Ai Chai."

Asnee asked, "Frank, do you really want to see me break up with Chai?"

Decha said, "Ai Nee, whether you two are together or apart. I will still be friends with you. Our friendship will not change when your relationship with Chai ends. In the past, I never told Chai where you were or what you were doing, even when I know fully well." He sighed. "I didn't betray you, please don't ask me to betray him."

Asnee said, "I know...you're right...I only see other people's mistakes, not my own. Sorry."

Decha laughed, "Come again."

Asnee gritted his teeth and sighed, "I... I'm sorry. I was drunk that night."

Decha chuckled. "I know you were. We've been friends for too long, and it's too late to cut ties with me." He sighed. "Oh, the person who deserve to hear your apology the most is not me, but Chai."

Asnee said, "I know...but I don't even know where to start. I've done a lot to hurt him, and I've kept a lot of secrets from him. Ai Frank, do you think if I apologize sincerely, he will forgive me and come back to me."

Decha said, "To be honest, I don't know. Ai Chai has been hurt and abandoned too many times. Since breaking up with you, he never called me again until you sent me to investigate him. The only time he called me was last night to pick him up because he couldn't find a taxi." He stopped. "He is no longer the Chai we used to know."

Asnee said, "Frank, this time I want to get things right. I'm not going to keep any secrets from him."

Decha said, "Ai Nee, to be honest, the right thing you can do now is to let Ai Chai go. Doesn't he deserve a moment in the sun like everyone else?"

Asnee stubbornly said, "Frank...I don't want to lose him. I hate the thought that the person holding him is not me."

Decha said, "I won't stop you from trying to bring him back. Only when you are sure you won't let him cry again, go after Ai Chai. The tears he shed over the years are enough to quench people's thirst." He paused for a few seconds. "Ai Nee, take my advice into consideration, if you still want to bring Chai back, consider my suggestion."

Asnee said, "I will take your advice into consideration. When I have the opportunity, I will confess, even my hidden secrets."

Decha heard Asnee mention the word "secret" many times, and he didn't know what kind of secret Asnee was hiding from Santichai and himself. He hurriedly asked, "Ai Nee, do I know this secret?"

Asnee sighed heavily, "No, you don't know. No one knows this secret except me."

Decha was taken aback, "What secret are you hiding that I don't even know?"

Asnee said, "If you want to hear it, come have breakfast with me."

Decha said, "Deal."

Santichai woke up around ten in the morning. He packed his clothes and vacuumed the floor. He started making lunch. Today, he has no class, so he decides to go and buy himself a new phone. He knew that KK came home early from a business trip, and that KK would not go back to work until next Monday. He didn't want to wake KK because he knew from last night that KK must be drinking. He looked at his watch and decided that if by noon and KK had not woken up, he would go to the mall and buy himself a new phone.

Santichai put the cooked food on the kitchen island and was looking for plastic wrap to wrap the food when the bedroom door opened. To Santichai's surprise, KK was already dressed as if he was ready to go out.

Santichai said, "Good morning, do you want to eat something before leaving?"

KK walked to the kitchen and stood on the other side of the kitchen island watching Santichai. He said, "I have a meeting in an hour. Where's your broken phone?"

Santichai walked to the living room, grabbed the broken phone, and walked back to the kitchen. When he came back, he saw that KK had put the new phone on the table. "Here is the phone," he said.

KK took the phone from Santichai, and it looked like the screen was cracked. The sides of the phone were also damaged beyond repair. He ejected the sim card and took the sim card. He inserted Santichai's sim card into the new phone and handed it to Santichai.

KK said, "No new to buy a new phone. When I purchased my phone, I bought two and got a third for free. It was a good deal. I bought one myself, gave one to Dee, and I saved this one just in case I lost my phone."

Santichai said, "I can pay you back."

KK sighed and walked to the trash can, "Forget it, your phone is broken, it's my fault to some extent, I messed with your ex-boyfriend, if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't damage your phone."

Santichai said, "His temper is always short." He picked up his phone and looked at it. "KK, this is exactly the same model as yours."

KK, "Mmm." He threw Santichai's broken phone in the trash. "I gave Dee the free one." He sat down and started eating Santichai's food.

Santichai said, "Are you in a hurry to go to the meeting?"

KK asked, "Do you have class today?"

"No, I don't, but I have an exam on Monday. The professor gave us two days to study," Santichai said.

KK asked, "Would you like to go to the meeting with me?"

Santichai said, "Why do you want to take me? I don't speak the same language as doctor"

KK wiped his mouth and stood up. He looked at Santichai and said, "Aside from knowing that I am a doctor at HappyCare Clinic, don't you want to know more about me?"

Honestly, Santichai wants to know more about KK. "I'm afraid I'll embarrass you in front of others," he said.

KK smiled and said, "You think too much, how can you embarrass me in front of others, you hardly talk to anyone?" He got up from the stool and kissed Santichai on the cheek. "If I tell you otherwise, don't pay too much attention to what other people say." He looked at Santichai. "Are you going or not? I'm more confident in myself if you go with me."

Santichai doesn't know how his presence will boost KK's confident, but since he has nothing to do today, and he really wants to get to know KK, he has no reason to reject KK's invitation.

Santichai smiled and said, "I'll go."

When KK pulled into the driveway for the meeting, Santichai felt the place was a little familiar. As if he had been here before, this is the same building where he submitted his job application to work at HappyCare Clinic. Santichai quickly opened the door before the doorman came to him. He walked slowly behind KK as two men opened the door for them. Before them stood six people, four men and two women. One of the women stepped forward and said, "Good afternoon, Mr. Suwannarat, these are the documents that were prepared."

KK grabbed the file and took a quick look. "Tell Royal Lion Productions that if our terms don't meet, we won't sign any more contracts with them," he said.

The woman said quickly, "Yes, Mr. Suwannarat."

A man on KK's left said, "I have spoken to Xingxing LLC about terms and conditions. They agreed that if we increase sales by the end of the month, profits will increase by ten percent."

KK said, "Let the sales production team know and hire celebrities for short commercials."

The man said, "Yes, Mr. Suwannarat."

They started talking as they walked towards the conference room.

Santichai slowly walked behind KK and the other six. He couldn't understand a word they said, and their business language seemed like a foreign language to him, even though they spoke Thai. Just minutes into KK's life, Santichai already knew he didn't belong here. Recalling what Mrs. Siriporn said to him did make sense, and Santichai did agree with Mrs. Siriporn. The tastes of the upper-class citizens are too expensive, and he cannot afford them. No matter how he looked at it, this high society was not for him. He really needs to go back to his own world.
