Author Note: The main Plot I have planned is going to be starting soon. Bear with me during these none Rei/MC-focused chapters alright. (Since I know a lot of people hate when the MC doesn't show up in a chapter.)
Starting as two dark figures dashing through the tree's seven more followed. These figures were Team 8 and 10 who have been traveling for over three days straight. "I never realized how far away the border was from the village. I'm getting tired from all this traveling." Traveling alongside Ino and Shikamaru Choji said this with a slight lack of energy.
"Ya well, we can't afford to slow down. Like Asuma said our last break was last night." Shikamaru did agree with Choji the speed they were traveling was a little overboard however when you considered the mission it made more sense. Hearing their conversation Kiba who was ahead of them turned his head.
"Well, we probably would have been there already if it wasn't for someone being so hard to wake up. I was thinking of getting Akamaru to bite you but…" Listening to the three of them Ino almost rolled her eyes. "The only outcome I can see from that is Choji eating Akamaru after being bit." Ino's response caused Hinata who was behind Ino to laugh slightly.
It was then that both Asuma and Kurnanai who were leading the rest stopped on a tree branch crouched over. Asuma raised his hand with the sign to stop and remain quiet which was immediately conveyed to all of them. The light atmosphere stopped as everyone remained silent.
Looking around for what they stopped for Shino spotted something in the distance. "Do you all see that?" Pointing at the sky slightly everyone's expressions changed when they saw the top of a large transparent blue dome. "We can see it from this far away. Just how big is this thing?" Shikamaru was going to inquire from both Kurenai and Asuma but he stopped himself when he saw Asuma turn to them.
"Starting from here on we'll be entering unknown territory. Watch each other's backs and don't stray from one another." Listening to Asuma everyone there nodded in agreement. "Asuma is right and even though this is an A-Rank mission do not under any circumstances risk getting caught."
Kurenai's intent wasn't to stress them out; however, under the rules of this mission, they couldn't afford to risk the team if one of them was caught. Seeing everyone understand Asuma nodded jumping down from the tree branch onto the ground. "We'll be traveling on the ground from this point forward lookout for traps and avoid any unnecessary noises."
Soon everyone had joined Asuma on the ground as they went top speed forwards, that is of course until they hit something unexpected. Entering a brief clearing in the forest that went around the entire barrier they all stopped in their tracks. "What?" Showing her confusion both verbally and facially Kurenai slowly looked up.
"That's not possible. The image you guys showed us didn't have this here at all." What had stopped them all from advancing was a large wall. Perfectly lining up with the barrier a wall made of some kind of white stone with tiled roofs lining it off. 'It can't be possible they built this in four days. Did they know we were coming?' Thinking to himself Asuma was at a brief loss. It was then that Shikamaru turned to Hinata.
"Hinata can you use your Byakugan and see how far this wall stretches or if there are any ways we can get through?" Shaking herself out of her shock Hinata dazedly nodded her head before placing her hands together forming a hand sign. "Byakugan!" Hinata's eyes turned almost completely pale as veins appeared next to both of her eyes.
After keeping her Byakugan activated for four seconds straight Hinata had moved her head both left and right with a shocked expression. "That's not possible. I can't see..." Hinata's words trailed off as she got everyone's attention. "What do you mean you can't see Hinata? You mean you can't see if this wall goes all the way around or not?"
Kurenai and Shikamaru had a questionable expression on their faces as they saw Hinata shake her head. "No, it's not that. I can see the outside of the wall just fine from what I can tell it stretches across the entire circumference of the barrier. But no matter what I do I can't see through it my Byakugan can't see past the wall itself."
Immediately everyone's eyes widened in shock as Ino who was standing next to her spoke. "Is that even possible? I thought the Byakugan could see through anything." The Byakugan's ability to see through solid objects was one of the reasons why the Hyuga were used on recon missions like this.
'For Hinata not to be able to see through this wall… Even a high-level barrier can only distort the Byakugan's vision at the most.' Thinking that Kurenai saw that they had an issue now. The wall was too high for them to jump over even using the surrounding tree's behind them and it even stretches around the barrier.
"Well the trees nearby may not be tall enough but I am." Choji stepped forward and immediately the idea clicked with Shikamaru. "Right your expansion Jutsu can get us up over the wall no issue." Both Kurenai and Asuma signed the idea off as everyone gathered in one place. Choji put both of his hands together forming a hand sign.
"Super Expansion Jutsu!" Second, Choji's body began to grow in a burst. By the end, he was taller than the tree's and just slightly smaller than the wall itself. Lowering one of his hands to the ground everyone was able to climb on. Then with one swift motion, he raised his hand up launching them all into the air and over the wall.
Releasing the expansion Jutsu Choji used his displaced height to get over the wall after the others and landed on the other side. Observing their surroundings it seemed the forest had continued even past the wall. Like the ninja before them, they felt the strange presence in the air causing them to feel slightly uneasy.
It was just as everyone was getting their bearings that Asuma heard a strange sound in the distance.
"Everyone on guard." Turning towards the sound Asuma peered in the deeper part of the forest only to something glint. 'An ambush?' As the sound grew louder Asuma saw a large spinning sword shoot out from the forest ahead of them cutting through all the shrubbery and trees in its way.
Not having time to warn the others' Asuma drew one of his chakra blades and began infusing it with wind-based chakra. Using the blade he clashed with the spinning sword which caused him to slide back slightly before deflecting it into the air. The sword continued to spin flying back in an arc to where it came from.
Having deflected the attack Asuma quickly drew a kunai from his back pouch and threw it in the direction the sword had come from. "Asuma are you all right?" Everyone was surprised by the sudden attack and looked at Asuma who was breathing heavily. "I'm fine but it looks like we were being expected. There in the tree's watch each other's backs."
However, the truth of the situation was quite different than it seemed. Clashing, Fuyumi was sent skating back across the ground before stopping herself. Staring her down was Seiki, currently, the two of them both had their Shikai activated and looked slightly worse for wear. They had been fighting one another for an hour straight with either deciding to call it quits.
"Fuyumi why don't you just surrender and make it easier on yourself. No matter how fast you are, you can't beat me with those weak attacks." Smirking Seiki was breathing heavily as he spoke to her. In response, Fuyumi spoke in a cheeky tone. "Oh,'' says the one who's out of breath. But if you need a break you could just give up!"
Water released itself from her blade as she slashed toward Seiki at a distance. Forming an arc in the air the water fired itself after her slash flying towards Seiki at top speed. Reverting his smile to a look of concentration he dodged out of the way as the blade of water cut through three trees behind him.
As the trees slid and fell to the ground Fuyumi didn't stop there and began unleashing a barrage of slashes at Seiki. Using the broadside of his released Zanpaktuo Seiki used it as a shield as one after another the water blades hit pushing him back more each time. This continued consistently for ten whole seconds until Fuyumi realized she wasn't getting anywhere and stopped.
Feeling the constant barrage pushing him back, Seiki decided to counter-attack. Lowering his guard he grabbed his Zanpakuto by its hilt and pulled it over his back. "Since you wanna launch projectiles catch!" Bringing the weight of his sword to near nothing and threw it at Fuyumi in a spinning motion.
Using her leg's Fuyumi quickly dodged the attack as the blade flew into the forest behind her. "Ha you missed and now you don't have your Zanpakuto." Pointing her Zanpakuto at Seiki she felt it was her win. Seiki on the other hand was smiling as he said. "Oh did I really miss?" Seeing his smile Fuyumi glanced behind her but didn't see anything.
"Ya, I think you did." Seiki looked confused as he tilted his head looking into the forest. "Where did it go?" Ren who was relaxing off to the side against a tree opened his eyes hearing a wheezing sound in the air. Glancing upwards he called out. "Seiki heads up." Hearing Ren Seiki looked up as well and spotted his Zanpakuto.
"How did it get up there?" Reaching out his hand his sword began to curve itself as it flew towards him. Fuyumi on the other hand spotted something suddenly flying towards Seiki's face while he was distracted. With one swift stroke, she let off an attack cutting the flying object in half before it reached him.
Catching his Zanpakuto, Seiki looked down at the ground and saw Kunai lying there. "That thing almost stabbed you, you know." Putting their fight on pause Ren stood up as well realizing something was wrong. "No one is supposed to be here. And why would they attack me all of a sudden."
Asking these questions an entirely different conversation was going on back with Team 10 and 8. They had formed a circle like formation covering each other's blind spots. "We can't see through these trees and were at a disadvantage not knowing where the enemy is hiding." Kurenai spoke to Asuma who was standing right next to her.
"Im aware and we can't just sit here doing nothing." Looking over at Asuma, Ino begins to weave hand signs. "What are you planning on doing?" Asuma began to weave hand signs as he responded to her. "Evening up the playing field." Finishing his hand signs he took a deep breath as he spoke.
"Wind Style: Dust Storm Jutsu!"
So both groups have ended up attacking one another unknowingly. Not the best situation I must say but then again it allows more PLOT.
