In The Beginning!

Once upon a time, in a suburban neighborhood, there was a married couple. They were very well known throughout their small community, not for their good works or accomplishments, no. They were known solely for their sex drive. This was Sheely and Jona McDoe.

No matter where they were and no matter the occasion, the couple would excuse themselves to have a 'discussion' with one another. Everyone knew what was actually going on, of course, as they weren't exactly subtle, so what came next was no surprise to anyone. They announced that they were going to have a child soon.

Little did they know, they were about to experience true hell. Soon, sightings of low level monsters were reported around the area. They had small numbers and weren't particularly strong, so the local government took care of them with no problem. However, more reports started to come in, much more than they could handle. Monsters such as goblins, hobgoblins, trolls, and giant salamanders had become common sights in the community.

Something had to be done so they evacuated the area, but the monsters seemed to follow the evacuees wherever they went. They had no choice but to put them in a nearby facility called Fort Duskguard where they would be protected until further notice.

The further along Sheely was in her pregnancy, the worse and more vicious the attacks became. Then, the day had finally come when everything was calm. There were no attacks, no monsters, and nothing seemed out of place. Everything was finally back to normal and they could go back home. Well....almost.

"Hey, Jona, what should we name this little monster? I was thinking Shelby if its a girl and Sindri if its a boy. What do you think?"

"Hmm, how about John or Jane? I think that works just fine."

I just look at him, he knows what I want to say. I swear, John McDoe? Does he even think before he speaks? He's lucky that I love him.

"Moving on, how long do you think we have to stay here? I haven't been to work in over a week because of these attacks, and you could go into labor any minute now." my husband says worriedly.

"I don't know, I just hope I get this little monster out of mEEEEEEEEEE OH MY GOD ITS TIME!"

"REALLY!? NOW?!"

We don't waste any more time and go to the parking garage to get the car. Monsters or not, I'm getting this baby out of me. Goblins? Run them over, momma has got to go!

As we make our way to the car, I noticed that the sky started to darken. The clouds had become a thick miasma in the sky. My walking speed starts to slow, my heart rate begins to rise. No, not this, not now. This can't be happening.

By the time I realized what was going on, I had stopped walking and and stare at the sky in despair. I know what comes next, we are all going to die here today.

*Crack!*

A crack begins to form in the sky, like the fabric of reality is breaking down. What should be an impossible phenomenon, happening right in front of me for the second time in this miserable life of mine.

*Crack**Crack**Crash*

Shards of our puny reality fall to the ground and break one after another, revealing the abomination that took my home from me. A Metaphysical. With the head of an eagle, the body of a lion, and the tail of a snake, it moves forward. It cranes its ghastly head around in search for something...someone. Before I could even remember to breath, someone takes my hand, I look over to find my husband looking at me...

"We have to go, now." he says in a low voice to not alert the creature of our presence.

I simply nod and follow behind, numb of any pain I felt before due to adrenaline and fear. We can still make it out of this, we are still alive! We start to run as we round a the corner to get away from there as fast as possible. An alarm sounds in the facility. It seems they finally realized what's going on.

We hear explosions in the distance as we make our way to the car, but before we could make it, another explosion resounded. The shelter we have been staying in...was no longer there. All that remained was rubble.

There were no screams, no alarms, no gunshots....Silence. A deafening silence that wrung alarm bells in my head, only to be drowned out by my panicked breathing. In the distance, that THING is looking at us. It had found what it was looking for, and without any prior warning, it shot towards us. Its talons ripping concrete and metal alike as if it was paper in a shredder.

I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe. Closer, closer, closer. Every second felt like an hour, my life has flashed before my eyes more times than I can count. Before I knew it, the chimera was already in front of me, but unlike in anime, it didn't give me time to power up. Its talons shot forth like a spear thrown by the goddess of death herself, straight for my stomach.

*Shluck**Slice*

"I...Love.....You...."

"no, no, no, NO, NO, NO!"

My husband, the love of my life, lay there on the ground with a hole the size of a basketball in his chest, painting the floor with blood. I fall to my knees, this wasn't supposed to happen. We can't die like some shitty protagonist's parents to give him a sad backstory. I look up from my husband's body and look at the beast in the eye as prepares to attack once more.

*Slice**Slice**Slice**Splat*

Just as I had finished preparing myself for death, three blades of wind sliced its head, torso and tail into three separate pieces. A girl with blonde hair and a big black witch hat came into my view.

"Wow, got here just in time." she looks around, seeing all the destruction, "well, maybe not, haha..."

Just as the "Savior" got through saying that, I remembered that I was going into labor.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH" the pain hit me all at once as my soon to be born child claws his way out of me.

"Oh crap! Are you going into labor!?" the blonde says panicked.

Hmm, If I remember correctly, I'm supposed to be dead. I was finally able to get some good sleep and now what do I get? Reincarnation? I'm going back to sleep.

Yeah, sure, as long as you shut up.

[Affirmative]

I feel something pulling me and the top of my head is cold, maybe I should have said no? It was too late for that however. In a matter of fifteen minutes, my head was already out of the opening and the rest following closely behind. Does it usually happen this fast? Ha, that's what she said. I crack myself up.

"Hey lady, your kid just kinda popped out on his own, do you want him?" I hear a girl say.

"Ha...Ha.....Ha, yes, Ha...cough!"

I can't really see anything out of my newborn eyes but I think that's my mother speaking. I feel the girl hand me off to her.

*Twitch*

Unbeknownst to the three of them, the tail of the chimera was still able to move on it's own. The snake had found it's target, so it coiled up and got ready to strike. As soon as it found an opening, it shot forward like a bullet. Fortunately or unfortunately, Sheely's motherly instincts kicked in and snatch the newborn out of harms way, and the snake bit her in the throat, ripping her head off.

"Dammit! {Wind Blade}!" Three blades of wind shot forth and cut the snake to shreds.

She caught the child in her arms and stood dumbfounded. She thought that she had killed it, this death was on her, and now she is holding the parentless child in her arms. The child seems to have fallen asleep comfortably in her arms. Blissfully ignorant of the todays events.

"{Fly}" I fly to the entrance of the facility in silence to wait for the rest the Saviors to get here.

"Now, what am I gonna do with you?"

And so starts the journey of The Gamer in this chaotic world.
