21. These People Are Insane!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Lance unloads the whole clip in just a few seconds. He didn't hit a bullseye with every shot, but he still hit every target. "Is that good?" Lance asked as he unloaded the empty clip from the gun and loaded a fresh one in. He puts the safety on and puts the gun back into his inventory.

"You are an enigma!" Elandra shook her head. He may not have a perfect aim, but he is still really good. "Okay then," She turns around and waves for Lance to follow. She leads them through the grounds "The animals where you will be going will vary in species. You will probably face more Saber Wolves, but if you see the Beta, you should run. They are much stronger and faster than that Alpha you fought."

"How did you know I fought an Alpha?" Lance stopped dead in his tracks. He knew he never mentioned fighting an alpha, so he was confused about how she knew.

Elands stops and turns, she pointed to herself, "Captain". She then points at Lance, "Recruit!" She turns back and continues walking. "Your biggest threat, other than the recruits, are the Drankons. They are nocturnal and are usually hibernating this time of year. But they can wipe out all of you recruits in a single night. So stay alert!"

The pair come to the empty field, Elandra points to the ground, "Stay!" Then continues walking to the other end. She chose a field that was about fifty meters long with marks every ten meters.

'Am I a dog now?' Lance had an ugly look on his face.

Elandra stops a few meters away. She pivots around and throws a small dagger at Lance. He quickly jumps back as the dagger sticks to the ground where he once stood. "Next one, catch it!" Without pause, she drops a dagger out of her sleeve and throws it.

The dagger wasn't too fast, but it did give Lance a bit of trouble. He caught it, but he grabbed the blade and cut his hand.

'A skill quest' Lance was excited now. He didn't see this skill in Elandra's status window, so this skill was a shock to him. He threw the dagger back at her and she caught it with no problem. Lance took a glance at the progress bar and saw it go up. 'This may be pretty easy.'

Elandra threw the knife back. Lance caught it again, but cut his hand open again.

The couple was throwing the dagger back and forth. At some point, Lance was able to catch it by the hilt. Their throwing speed even increased. Elandra pulls out a second blade and they began tossing two back and forth. Their speed increases even further. The blades are flying so fast, they could barely be seen by the naked eye.

Lance threw the dagger in his hand back at Elandra. She naturally caught it and puts them away. "That's enough for now. The others will be arriving soon, and the choppers are due any time. I expect to see you tomorrow." Elandra put her hand on his shoulder and hands him several daggers. After he accepts them she headed off towards the office building.

Lance looks behind him and watched her head towards the office building. 'Is this all because I'm gaining her favor?'

'I don't think it's as simple as that. But I haven't got a clue as to why she's singling you out.' Vixen was getting more and more jealous of Elandra. She was doing her best to hide it.

'By the way, what are Drankons?' Lance headed back to the barracks to tend to his hands. He thought about drinking a potion but decided he best save as many as he can.

'In your world, they would be considered giant lizards. But their appearance is different. They have long claws that are as sharp as razors, and several rows of teeth to shred their prey into bits. Their eyes see heat waves, so it's pointless to try and hide from them. And they also have a vicious breath attack.' If she could, she would show Lance a picture of the creature. Unfortunately, she couldn't do that. At least, not yet.

'So in other words, Run!' Lance couldn't help but be a little afraid. The alpha gave him some trouble, so if there was a beast that was stronger than that, well...

'Hahaha, yeah. That would be the smart idea'. Vixen couldn't help but laugh. She figured he would be dumb enough to try and fight the damned beast. But luckily, he was thinking normally.

The other recruits arrived on time as usual, and they all fell in line. They were all told by the Captains what today's training was gonna be. And after they finished their speech, the choppers landed in the field. The recruits were all ordered to board them and then they took off.

The helicopters flew over the forest in a triangle formation. The recruits were looking out the windows. Some of them never left the city before, so this was all new to them. The city slowly disappeared over the horizon.

Elandra was in the copter with Lance and a small group of recruits. "Once we land, you will all be on your own. You will either make it back, or you won't. We won't be sending out a search party for anyone left behind. So stick together, and make it back in one piece."

The recruits all nodded and looked at each other. Lance could see the distrust in their eyes. He was planning on leaving as soon as they hit the ground anyways, but now he was certain that it would be his only way to survive.

The choppers all started to descend into a clearing not too far from the forest. Once on the ground, all the recruits disembarked and fell in line. Elandra pops her head out of one of the helicopters, "You have one day, Starting now!" She closed the door and all the copters take off.

Lance was the first one to start walking back to town. Since he lived in the wilderness in his past life, he knew how to use the sun and plants to figure out his rough direction.

One of the recruits grabbed Lance's shoulder and spun him around, "You're the captain's little pet, ain'tcha? Why don't you give me all your supplies, you won't be needing them, will ya?" The man was an older guy, in his mid to late '30s. He was a native Galorian with short black hair and a medium build to him. "Oh, and those swords look nice! Why don't you hand them over? We can make sure you make it back." Half a dozen other men were standing behind him, and they all began laughing along with the older man.

Lance obviously wasn't gonna give the guy anything, but before he could walk away, he heard the screams from behind the group. Most of the other groups were killing each other. Some put up a fight, but ultimately, the weaker ones and the ones without a group, all started to fall.

Lance was too focused on the fighting happening to notice the man swinging at him, 'Lance, Watch out!' Vixen had to warn Lance of the incoming attack.

The older man took a swing with his big fist, hoping to knock Lance out quickly. But he was up against someone he didn't prepare for.
