Chapter 61: Choice

( Alex POV )

He had awaited this moment for a long time. Alex had planned to do this a long time ago, but Julie had interrupted all of his plans. It wasn't something he could say that was good or bad, he knew why she did it and he would have done something similar if he was in her place.

Still, after all that, he definitely planned to have her killed. True, she could be an ally during the later dangers of this world, but she tried to kill him and he returned the gesture. If she survived, the next time they meet will be as reluctant friends.

They will never start becoming allies that would risk their life for each other, but both also knew that fighting amongst themselves will only waste resources.

Alex looked at the sleeping Fire Boar and Lily, and waved at her. "Stay here, look after Pork. I will be back in a bit."

"Be careful," she warned him with her usual cold look.

Alex smirked. "You do care after all."

She only pouted and turned around.

'Tsundere~' thought Alex, but he decided to not say it out loud. Instead he just waved his wand and the earth below him crumbled into a pit that he fell through.

As he fell through the image around him changed and he saw a young man, who couldn't have been more than fifteen years old. He knew him very closely, this was his previous body in his first life. He had dark hair and blue eyes, at the time he had a nervous look as a girl with dark hair and similar blue eyes was on top of him in a compromised position.

"S -Sister… I don't think this is a good idea." Said a distraught Alex, looking around nervously, "What if mother and father find us out?"

The girl smiled. "Don't worry my cute little brother, they won't get back from work till later-"

"WHAT US GOING ON HERE?!!" Their parents screeched as they caught them with most of their clothes off and kissing.

Alex looked at this memory of his with a cold look in his face. He just criticized his younger self, he should have been careful and not let his sister push for these risque things.

He shook his head, dismissing the memory, Alex knew that this was just another illusion, and he also understood that this was the moment his life turned around. The family estranged them and he couldn't look at his sister the same. He never could quite pinpoint where these 'games' of theirs were taken too far. They both knew what they were doing was wrong. But… *sigh*

The scenes around Alex changed and now he was standing in front of a bedroom, his sister's body hanging by the ceiling and a note at her feet. Her face was purple and blood came out of her nose.

'Right, this thing also happened… no matter how hard I try, some things just can't be forgotten.' Alex sighed, because the memories were gruesome and would have hurt him greatly in his 1st life. He already was prepared for this.

Plus, now that he looked back, his actions were truly born one out of lust. There was barely any romantic love involved with his sister, he loved her as a sibling and at the same time wanted her for the good looks. Of course, back then he would never admit it, but now he could read through it like a book, the emotions and feelings of the time were so clear.

"Sorry sister," he apologized, taking a glimpse at her suicide note. It was an apology for her brother at the shame she brought on him and their family. "You always thought that it was your fault our parents looked at us like that. But I never blamed you, again… sorry… if only..." *sigh* "What the hell am I doing? Talking to a stupid illusion."

He dismissed the notion, a feeling of anger bubbling up for a second before it was ruthlessly crushed down. To him, when he looked at his past self, it didn't even feel like him anymore, just some young people doing stupid decisions.

As his feelings get buried deep inside of him, in a place where no one could see them. After that, immediately the world around him turned dark and he saw that he was falling.

'Another fake.' The image changed again and this time he had hit the ground, pain filled his body, but he had predicted this already and had his gear enchanted with Feather Falling and Floating.

This was the real trap, he had been under the illusion while falling. To him it had seemed like not even a minute passed under the illusion, but his physical body and craps showed that it had been around an hour. His sense of pain had been ticked and hadn't felt anything even when he hit the ground.

Suddenly the room lit up, the source of light was unidentifiable. The stone walls seemed to be in pristine condition and clean.

BOOOOM!

Suddenly vines erupted from the walls and went to strangle Alex, but he chanted something under his breath and the room was covered in darkness, stopping all of the vines in their tracks.

'Knowing every trap that came from here on, it's really such a cheat.' Thought Alex, before using Earth Magic to take a shortcut.

The Magic wouldn't usually work, but this spell was made in the future that would bypass this system of defenses.

It didn't take long for him to reach a throne room with a skeleton sitting in it. The room was quite majestic with a red carpet, giant pillars and the stone was smooth and clean. Everything was so clean that it made Alex contemplate if the Dream Mage had some OCD.

He wouldn't be surprised as Mages got more and more intelligent as their brain adapted, they usually developed something like this. For example, his control tendencies already were getting worse, even though they already used to be pretty bad to begin with.

By now even if the mortal barrier and the world was destroyed by Gods wouldn't surprise him, it would kill him since there was no countermeasure against it, but he wouldn't be surprised.

He went towards the corpse which was now just bones and broke his skull with a mana bolt.

"Hmmm…" a parchment dropped out of it, he then levitated it toward his hand and a rune was in the piece of paper that looked extremely normal.

*RUBLE!!*

Suddenly the room started being destroyed, Alex looked up and saw a giant boulder aiming at his head. 'This would have caused most people to panic, but…'

Fwish!

The giant boulder disappeared, being just another illusion. If he had gone the regular way, the traps would have been real and he would have thought that this boulder would be too and hit it with a giant spell on instinct.

The spell would hit the upper part of the building and collapse with the eight of a mountain on top of him. Legendary or Not, that will definitely kill you.

Still, Alex was unbothered by it and instead looked at the small note in his hand.

[Warning! The Dream God is trying to send a message to you!]

[New Class Available!]

[3rd Legendary Class Option Opened]

'This bastard thinks he can have it in the palm of his hand just because he saved me once. As if I don't know his true nature.' Alex grumbled before chanting a long ten verse spell under his breath.

<Anti Divine Presence!>

Alex's body shone in a dim light, making it unable for anything with a divine lineage to get a clear trace of him. Though this would only last for a couple of minutes and the Mana required to cast the spell was enormous.

He could feel the Dream God's presence lingering around him. But Alex decided to ignore the thing, he couldn't banish it, though he was uncomfortable at the thing observing what he was about to do. It wasn't like he had a choice, and he couldn't banish the thing.

'Advance Rank Up'

[You have three Available Classes that would allow Legendary Rank Up]

[Absolute Ice-Blood Mage]

[Soul Mage]

[Flesh Mage]

All of the choices would make for fantastic options, especially in Alex's hands. He had the knowledge of millions of players with original ideas from his last world.

The Flesh Mage would be considered the worst amongst the three options, but he knew that one could create an army of Humonculous, each of them their own person with different skills and spells.

A guy had tried to do something similar in the game, but he was killed before he could complete his dream of a hundred Legendary Rank harem homunculus. Yeah, there was a reason so many people liked the game back in Alex's first world.

Absolute Ice-Blood Mage was something that Haruto hadn't heard of even in his 1sy life, he knew of Absolute Ice Mage, since that was his previous Legendary Rank Class in his game character. But this new class was an unknown to him. Though he knew that he got it when he had the Ice Goddess Core.

Soul Mage… that was very strong too, it would be touching into the realm of Gods. Life and Death… he knew that this would earn the ire of certain Gods. This Class had been something that the Dream God had been conducting research on. So not only would he have to finish the thing himself, meaning that after Legendary Rank he would have to create a Legendary Class spell to advance a level.

Whereas if he chose Flesh Mage, he could easily get all the spells from someone who had used the same road before and reach the peak of Legendary Rank by just using Exp.

Alex knew that if he wanted to be anything special, there was only one choice that would put him above the others. After all, the Interface powers of getting Exp and such will no longer become special in comparison to Legendary Rank abilities.

For example, Camilla could get all of the memories, skills, and power of anyome she killed or was killed in the Shadow Island. It worked similar to Alex's Exp, except that it was superior since it absorbed the enemy's power, skills and mana to make them the user's power.

*sigh* Alex looked at the Dream God's presence observing him. "You know, for some thousand year old being, some of you are really nosy on mortal business."

Then he chose his Class… the one that would pave his road to power. The choice that couldn't be taken back.
