Rebecca was seen standing on top of the school's roof with Sally and David 24 hours after hearing about the first phase of the exam.
David was dismissed by the nurses three hours before meeting Rebecca on the rooftop. The group was discussing their plans.
" The plan everyone in the school will think of is simply waiting until the end and stealing pages from tired students. "
David spoke with his hands behind his head, his body still aching from the poison of the beast. Rebecca nodded in agreement.
" I agree but there must be a time limit during the phase. I doubt the government will just let us stand around waiting patiently to strike, "
Said Rebecca,
As David and Rebecca became quiet, a soft voice spoke out, catching David by surprise.
" How will we notify the government that we have three pages? My teacher didn't specify a way. "
Said Sally,
David looked at her in shock. It was the first time he'd heard her voice. David stared at her until Rebecca spoke.
" That was probably on purpose. My teacher was also very vague. Only going into the exam's basics, I don't know if you pass as soon as you get three pages or if you have to hold out until the timer runs out. "
The group goes quiet as they all look around the school's rooftop thinking to themselves, until David suddenly takes a deep breath and walks toward the door that exits off the roof.
Rebecca and Sally look at him confused before Rebecca shouts out to him,
" Where are you going?"
David keeps on walking ignoring her question. He grabs onto the doorknob and swings the door open before looking back at Rebecca.
" You two can come up with a plan and fill me in, after all, I'm going to be the workhorse during this exam, I need to go get tools, "
Said David walking through the doorframe and heading down the stairs, the sound of footsteps rippled out covering the stairwell in noise.
Hundreds of thoughts ran through David's mind as he took a final step down the stairwell and walked into the school's main building...
I need to go get some type of weapon. A small pocket knife will do. The only problem is people can remember me now, so I can't just steal one.
I walk out of school with my hands in my pockets. My body is still sore from fighting that assassin then getting ambushed by that beast. I'm sure there must be a blacksmith or someone who sells weapons somewhere in this massive city.
I start walking through the city on the sidewalk looking around. I'm at a strip of stores. A crowd of people is gathering around all holding a variety of weapons. I stare at the crowd confused until I scoff at myself and approach them.
Looks like everyone had the same plan as me. They came to these stores to gather weapons and supplies, but this works for me. This crowd will make stealing so much easier.
I slip into the crowd making my footsteps step at the same time as the people around me making my footsteps silent, I look through the crowd before seeing a rack of knives being displayed right outside of a store, I slowly walk through the crowd approaching the rack,
I take one more step before my right hand flickers, grabbing onto three knives. I quickly slide the knives into my pants, before I slip back into the crowd.
I start walking away from the crowd until I feel a gaze focused on me, I glance towards the sensation and look through a clear window, I stare at a woman with pink hair standing behind a counter, she's wearing a blue vest with a pink shirt underneath, the rest of her body was covered by the counter,
We both lock eyes until she grins at me. Before hopping over the counter, I smack my lips as I slam my foot onto the ground and start sprinting through the crowd. My shoulders slam into the backs of men and women until I cut left running into an alleyway.
I start running through the alleyway, both of the walls on my sides are red brick, I look up before noticing a fire escape ladder connected to a four story building, I look forward and see a brown wooden crate, I leap up into the air landing my left foot on the crate before I jump up reaching my hand above my head.
My hand grips onto the metal railing as my body sways, I pull my body up before hooking my heel onto the stairs and I roll onto the escape ladder.
I push myself up and start running up the escape ladder, I run up to the very top but the ladder ends before it reaches the roof, the roof is to high for me to jump up and grab onto,
I start looking around before I notice a ventilation pipe connected to the side of the building. It goes up to the roof. I stand on the top of the railing and take a step back before leaping forward towards the pipe.
I reach out as both my arms wrap around the pipe as my body sways from my momentum. My arms begin to slide down the rustic pipe before I slam my feet onto the pipe catching myself from falling.
I start climbing up the pipe before I kick off the wall and push up onto the roof. I lean onto the pipe next to me breathing heavily until I stagger forward walking towards the middle of the roof.
" You sure do move fast. I almost lost you there, "
My eyes widen at the sudden voice. I start looking around the roof but I see nothing. Is the woman's ability a hiding one? I continue to look around confused until a shadow is cast above me. I look up into the air and see a woman hovering just above me with a grin on her face.
She can fly? Why would a cashier have such a strong ability? I dash back coming to a sliding stop. She chuckles at me as she descends landing her feet on the ground.
" There's is no need to be jumpy but I'll admit, it was funny seeing you struggle to find where my voice is coming from. "
She says covering her mouth, but despite covering her mouth I can still see the grin between her fingers.
" I apologize for not finding you sooner. I didn't expect a cashier to have such a strong ability such as flight? "
I reach into my pants as I pull out the three knives. I didn't expect to use these so soon, but if she gets me up in the air, this fight is over with.
I drop one knife to the floor, as I grip the other two tightly, I stare at the woman before I notice something when the sun reflects off my blades.
There's a crack in these knives, right at the hilt, it's a perfect straight crack. If I swing these knives at something they will surely shatter after one blow. I look down at the knife I dropped and see the exact same crack in the blade.
These blades aren't deficits, these cracks were purposely put on them. I look at the pink haired woman, staring at her grin before I drop both the knives.
" You can have these knives back, I don't see the value in them. "
I say kicking the blades towards her. They slide across the ground as sparks fly out of the blades scraping across the floor. She looks down at the blades before she squats down picking them up.
Those blades are meant to be a trap for students in this upcoming exam. Those blades will shatter if anything hits that large crack, either the school or government put those blades out for sale, testing one's knowledge of weapons, I need to warn Rebecca and Sally about the weapons near the school, I doubt knives are the only deficit product on the shelves right now,
" It seems you noticed that our products are deficit. You must be used to working with knives. "
She said to me holding onto the knives bunching them up in her left hand, I doubt this woman is your simple cashier and she knows about the knives, she probably works with the government or a school but she looks around my age,
" So, do you work for the government or for a school? "
She grins at my question before she shrugs her shoulders. She starts to strut towards me while juggling the knives in her left hand.
" I don't want to tell you, that'll ruin the surprise, you have a good head on your shoulders, so I'd like to ask you a question, what's your plan for the exam? "
She wants to know about my plan? So is she a student like me? It would make sense, she is around my age. I grin at her question before I shrug my shoulders.
" I'm going to do what everyone else is planning, wait patiently until the other students tire themselves out and steal their pages, "
She shakes her head walking closer and closer to me. She stares at me before she abruptly starts heading slightly left walking past me.
" There's no need for us to fight so soon, but for giving me these knives back without any problems, let me tell you a little secret, the first phase of the exam will have a one hour time limit, "
She says to me, my eyes widen from the new information but before I could say something she had already leapt off the roof and landed in the alleyway.
If the first phase is one hour long, that means it's going to be a survival game, so stalling until the end is the correct method, but I have no reason to believe what she said. She could have been lying to me, making my group practice the wrong strategies.
But I still should go tell Rebecca and Sally about the weapons and the potential time limit, I still have time to find a weapon, telling them this information is far too important...
